  1. Given the Pies have to clear salary cap room, pick 13 for both is appropriate.
  2. Was a tounge in cheek comment RM...... thought the exclamation mark made it obvious. I'll put 2 or 3 next time or a smiley face Here's another article: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/the-dawes-split-family-loyalities-for-afl-grand-final/story-e6frf9jf-1226152128016
  3. Stef Martin plays best as a solo ruck. Not as a fwd, not as a 2nd ruck, not as a backman. He will only develop if he gets the main ruck opportunity at MFC (hope not) or another club. Until then, he's only depth to us. Simple.
  4. FWIW, Chris Dawes' dad was a Melb Uni lecturer and now owns an antique bookstore and I believe his grandfather was one of Victoria's first Supreme Court (?) judges. And here I was thinking Neeld was chasing a dumb gorilla from the Pies!
  5. I do like the idea of Hogan in the mini draft. However, I read somewhere (not sure where) that there is likely to be a number of good KPPs in next year's draft. I would have thought this year we should focus on quality midfielders, whether they be from the draft or trades or FAs. There will be more KPP RFAs next year as well. No point loading up our forward line with highly paid gorillas if we can't deliver it to them. It may or may not be the best example, but the Dorks lost last week with arguably the best KPF (Buddy) in the comp. Did any big fwds win it for Sydney by kicking a bag? Champion midfielders go a long way towards winning premierships. Viney, Toumpas, O'Rourke please.
  6. A future what? Going on our current form over the last 5-6 yrs, we will be playing Jack Viney's son when this happens. Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
  7. You know RR, that's exactly what a lot of people said about Clark before we landed him.
  8. Neither is worth much. At the end of the day, they are both unwanted by their current club, regardless of brownlow votes, grand final medals, etc. Byrnes was snapped up by Melbourne. Moloney is being shopped around to every club by his manager, and it appears no one is all that keen. But if you say so.......
  9. Minus the points lost through getting Byrnes and any other FAs. Byrnes FA points = Moloney FA points, I would think.
  10. Unconfirmed reports that we've offered Martin, pick 3 & 4 for rounds of sandwiches.
  11. No chance. Malthouse is as loopy as Sheedy. Dunham is just a rank, 2-bit journo.
  12. Mono, I have non-Dee supporter friends who were saying the same thing about Bailey in '07.
  13. Not so sure that the Bummers are any closer to a flag than the Aints. They are closer than us, however, but still not really in the ball park of top 4, which is where a team must be to win the GF. Goddard went for money, lets face it. Good luck to him. Your comment on Dawes is very valid.
  14. Pay for sub and it will come up automatically in a much easier to use format. Not an app, just a mobile 'skin'.
  15. Not shooting the messenger, but... I thought that one of the AFLs aims about having the F/S nominations BEFORE the trade and draft period was to separate them and remove all possibilities of draft tampering. Dimwitreau and Underson came out specifically and stated that draft pick deals linked with F/S nominations would be seen as such. It's one thing to play hard ball, but totally another to be warned, still do it and then think that it's ok. Are we prepared to forfeit draft picks in 2013 as a penalty? The AFL community is small enough that everyone involved knows what goes on, including the above mentioned. If you play with fire, don't be surprised when you get burnt.
  16. He contributed something towards the win, but had more turnovers than a McDonalds hamburger pattie.
  17. Ah yes, Robert Walls, that highly esteemed journalist. Believe what he says if you like, but I won't. As I said, I don't think much of Brock, but I don't bother getting all emotional about him and overplaying some fictional vendetta he supposedly has against us. In fact, i quite enjoyed watching his second half of the season.
  18. Not sure if he was involved in bruise free football comments, Demonstrative. Didn't Robinson and Armfield say those comments? Please link us to a direct quote from him on this, if you can. Being on the Blues list at the time is not the same as being involved in those comments (which incidentally, Garry Lyon agreed with at the time on Footy Classified). Apart from the stupid tanking comments in that interview, where else has he taken "many opportunities to undermine the club" since he left? I hardly think a joke tweet about Silvia is 'undermining', lol! Also, McLean sought out the trade to Carltank, as opposed to being put up for trade. He initiated it. Most on here agree that he saw the writing on the wall at the Dees and looked for greener pastures. Doesn't mean he has a gripe. While I certainly do not like McLean as a character and think his comments about tanking were plain stupid and foolish, I cannot understand why some here are so hating and emotional towards him. As I said earlier, he is not smart enough to have an intentional agenda to undermine the MFC. I think he is a dumb, loose cannon, but the AFLs tanking investigation will make him look the fool in due course.
  19. Errr..... didn't he donate a large whack of soldi to the debt demolition? In fact, didn't he donate twice? $20k and then $10k, or the like (someone can correct me on this). But I don't think he's that p!ssed off with MFC. This is not stabbing us in the back, its meant as a prank on Col. I don't think he has the intelligence to have an agenda, and i honestly think his tanking comments were a matter of his mouth working before his brain engaged. He'd probably take the words back if he could, cause he knows how silly they make him look. His tweet is a dumb joke. He's a s*** stirrer without much brains. Read it as that and let it go.
  20. Unfortunately for Brock, his cheek has regularly proven to be somewhere between dumb and offensive.
  21. If we pick up Byrnes and Knights as FAs, that would probably cancel out losing Riv and Beamer as FAs. ie. no second round picks for Riv and Beamer. That's roughly the way the AFLs FA points system works. I can't help but wonder why Port are considering trading Butcher. He was seen as the future of their forward line less than 12 mths ago. I'm thinking perhaps his body is shot somehow. No doubt, our medicos will do their due diligence and test him out first. We don't have a great track record with managing chronically injured players. If not, Hogan sounds like a good option. Other than that, I really like your thinking DrD.
