  1. The comparison between professional sportspeople taking PEDs and someone taking an E doesn't hold water. There are so many differences the two don't even stack up. Professional, counselled sportsmen desperate to succeed vs the general public taking rec drugs? Nah. I appreciate the personal sympathies towards your friend Jobe, but had he and his teammates shown some spine and simply googled the labels on the vials before signing the disclaimers, or answered the ASADA questions about what they had taken truthfully, this might not have happened. It beggers belief that not one of them googled the drug name against the publicly available list of banned substances and took a stand (Zaka excepted perhaps). The victim in this saga is the integrity of the game, not Jobe and his teammates. Ignorance is not innocence.
  2. Very good RTG
  3. Given the alleged family health situation, do you blame him? Put yourself in his shoes. If it were me I'd put everything else on hold.
  4. Sure. But my point is that big men take time. I don't know if McInerney will succeed, he's coming from a long way back, but he has shown good improvement this year. The club would know him inside out given he's at Casey, so they would know of his potential.
  5. Dunno about that. There's a high % of AFL footy fans that are women, many more than other male dominated sports, more so than cricket or soccer. I know of many footy mad mum's that have determined their kid's preferences. Likewise most draftees want to be in the same state, the same city as their family. That would be the true 'overwhelming' factor. Whilst Jeff might have a soft spot for the Dees and say he'd like his kid there, the reality of family unity might not lure the kid far from home. But here's hoping he's a gun and chooses the Dees, hey...
  6. Waiter! I'll have what he's having...
  7. Except one is on our list and fully fit and the other one isn't either and might possibly be in the mix for a trade. Plus, I'm guessing I don't need to tell you that the shin bone is not connected to the back bone. Whilst Fyfe could be a fantastic player again after 2 broken legs, he is not the "best player in the comp" anymore. How may players have broken a leg twice and recovered fully? I'd rate Hogan as more valuable than Fyfe in a trade. But I'll agree to disagree and leave it at that.
  8. I would've thought you have enough hobbies to keep you distracted Special, given your wide list of interests!
  9. Hawks first rounder this year for Mitchell. Hawks second rounder this year and next year's first rounder for O'Meara. They may have to give up a reasonable player, possibly a trade of picks as well. The problem for the Hawks is that their picks aren't going to be that high in the first round, around 14ish.
  10. Isn't he an F1 car driver? Or the last winner of the Tour D'France?
  11. Side track somewhat, but Chris Fagan as senior coach??? FMD...
  12. He got a mention in The Age write up about Casey win. Can't find the link, sorry. They mentioned his development over the year and indicated he might be on the radar of a few clubs. As we've seen with Max and previously with Stef Martin, ruckmen don't usually hit their peak until around 25.
  13. Absolutely. Freo need to hand over 3 + a big name such as Fyfe, but cant see that happening, or 3 + next year's first round pick.
  14. Your 'logic' is entirely lost IF Hibberd comes to Melbourne. According to you that would include us as a destination club. Probably on a par with Carlton. We know SFA detail about the discussion around a Hibberd trade, I'd prefer it that way than players or agents do pressers about it before the club has even finished the year. Players making a song and dance about their preferred destination does not in itself define a 'destination club'. Didn't Beams nominate Brisbane as his destination club? 'Destination club' is such a meh term anyway. All clubs attract players.
  15. This year's fist rounder (Mitchell) and next year's 1st rounders plus high second rounder they get for Hill to Freo (O'meara). Vickery will cost them a packet of twisties and a coke zero. Hawk veterans have taken big pay cuts to make sc room
  16. In the past, but he was also very useful as a key back at the time, which illustrates his diversity and potential. He was raw and showed glimpses of the future. For a team as hopeless as Brisbane to see him become a handy player speaks volumes. We chose Mitch instead and are the poorer for it, but that's an alternative reality, hey?
  17. 'Successful' is an arbitrary term jnr. Not fact.
  18. Thank you markc for putting some perspective into this thread. All the very best mate.
  19. Without any real leaders? Please don't tell me you consider NJones or Vincent as leaders. Imo we have zero true leaders. The next gen will be best served with leaders guiding them to maximise their potential. Not on our list, but imagine our youngsters with Danger, Mitchell or Roo leading them. Brilliant. That's what I want Goodwin to achieve.
