  1. Petracca Oliver Gawn Jones OMac Hogan.
  2. Unpressured turnovers. Defensive setup at stoppages. Being outmarked badly. Fixable, but not gretat to watch.
  3. Dees annihilate Pies in QB game, leading to Buckley being sacked, and Eddie losing out in a board challenge to his presidency. Dees finish 5th after Home and Away season. A suprise B & F winner - someone like Salem, Brayshaw or Hunt. We beat North. Weideman replaces Pederson on or after round 12. One of Dion Johnston or Spargo become established starting 22 small forward.
  4. I hope he returns to his best and tears it up for Port, but not against us. Just one of those quality people that make the whole club a better place. And if he and Watts get a run against us, I actually hope we cheer and clap when they come on. After that I will feel happy to treat them like the opposition and abuse the carp out of them.
  5. BACK Jetta OMac Hibberd H-BACK Lever Frost Hunt CENTRE Brayshaw Oliver Lewis H-FWD Melksham TMac Petracca FORWARD Hannan Hogan Garlett FOLL Gawn Viney Jones INT Salem Pederson Tyson Neal-Bullen Vince could easily replace Salem, but see him not starting 22 at this stage. This excercise shows up one missing link - our forward line is still one player short of being able to trouble the best opposition defences. IF Weideman develops that will solve the issue. TMac goes back to defence and Frost moves to the bench or Casey.
  6. I am a fan, and reckon Goodwin/Roos mantra of "from the contest out" might rapidly improve his game. I dont have the sense of him being a turnover king. But he is definitely not a primary target.
  7. Connors has said this not because it is TRUE. He has said it because the more he says it, the more likely these players will recieve higher offers, and his 30 pieces of silver might become 31 or 32. It is propoganda designed for LEVERage.
  8. I am still as grumpy as a Scot at a charity donation, but I can't believe some of the stuff being proposed on this thread. Hulett, Trengove, Kennedy and White look the closest to being delisted. Apart from them, even as bad as missing finals is, it would be a total waste of the Roos era to start swinging the hatchet anywhere it can strike blood. Our list doesn't need some wild, unfocused slashing - it needs a surgeons precision to help a very talented list improve. Possible to trade - IF we can improve our list: 1) Frost or TMac as much as I don't want to lose either of them. Might get us a Lever type defender. 2) Salem or Tyson if we can use them in conjunction with other draft numbers/current players to recuit an A grade midfielder. Probably not possible, they are probably not enough currency to get what we want. Garland might move on to coaching, and Spencer will get a gig somewhere else. With some recent rookie elevations, I actually can't see too much more movement than this, so no more than 6 list changes.
  9. THAT voice. Once heard, never forgotten. Seems a life time ago now, being drawn to his voice on the radio. He was one of those rare people of his generation who had followers - people turned on the radio just to listen to him. RIP, Harry.
  10. OK, so moving away from the strange views of some of our posters, who sound like opposition suppporters trolling the site, back to the thread. Is JL important? Yes. Leadership, kicking skill, experience. Is he perfect? No Is he declining? Yes.
  11. Leadership, off ball setting up and positioning, articulate and inspiring when he speaks in public. A great addition to the Dees. His day today was very ordinary and he will cop a blast from the coaches for his work rate at times. But still worth every cent over 3 years.
  12. Goodwin is a younger coach, not old school at all. I reckon we might see a talented player up for trade in order to get what we need. Not sure who, but maybe even someone like Tyson or Vince, even though I prefer them both to stay. But to get some outside class we might need to offer something up. White, Trengove and Kennedy look gone, and Garland shaky. I can't see a big trade period coming up in terms of numbers, but can see the possibility of a big in or out happening.
  13. How quickly I have forgotten the brilliance and skill of Aaron Davey, Travis Johnstone, and Adem Yze. The footage of Robbie still gets me teary - still the best Dees player I have ever seen. There is something divine or ephemeral about him that makes all other players look like orange cones. The physical impact of Barrassi, Neitz and Shwartz. Ash, you have made my night - thanks for all your work.
  14. What a player! Everyone talks about Eddie Betts and Steven Milne as the best modern day small forwards. The Wiz was their equal and x3 for excitement. Thise 3 years 1998-2000 were incredible football and he was a big part of it. And he played well in finals, a rare gift. He is up there with Jakovich, Schwartz and Jurrah as players who made you go to games.
  15. Zak Jones seemed to be a really good player on another team, but not one I had any interest in apart from being related to Nathan. But this year he has produced some real dash, and his kicking is on a quick improvement path. Considering we keep rotating ANB, Harmes, Kent, Stretch, etc.... in and out on form, I reckon he is ahead of this lot so could be in our starting 22.
  16. Jeffy has been huge this year. And the best thing is he has been consistent. Opportunistic, great defensive pressure, reliable and accurate.
  17. I still have a deep, cold, inner hatred for all things Collingwood that will not fade or die. It's in the blood. My great-grandfather was a passionate Dees man who despised Collingwood during the 1920's, my Nan followd on, my Mum remembers the great Melbourne-Collingwood rivalry of the 50's and 60's, and I simply hate them. For modern rivals we probably don't have one due to our lack of success, but I hate Essendon. The 2000 season with their Sheedy-instilled thuggery, hubris and arrogance ended on GF day when a brilliant young Dees team was beaten into the turf. I just want to annihilate them. Even more since their doping scandal. I was at the MCG the day Whelan hit Hird hard and although I don't like footy thugs I do remember standing and celebrating. I wish they had folded to be honest. GWS is an interesting one. My daughter and I go the Dees-GWS match each year calling it our "annual booing of Tom Scully game", and enjoy giving it to him (along with about 20,000 other Dees supporters) every time he does near the ball. But as a team they remain irrelevant to me.
  18. Agree totally with this. Wagner showed enough and another preseason should add more. The more I see of Joel Smith the more he comes across as a real smokey who could be something unique. Add to this that Weideman is effectively our first round draft pick this year as well, and our inward changes are Lewis, Hibberd, Wagner, Weideman Smith, and draft position 47. Very happy with this. Oops, forgot about Melksham who, although came to us via last year's trading, is in effective also an inward for this draft/trade period.
  19. Yeah, I know, just makes me feel sad for Grimes who I greatly respected. We burnt a lot of potential footballers from 2008 - 2014 and at times Grimes rose above all the junk and represented the Dees with dignity and strength.
  20. I know that Jack Grimes' limitations as a footballer made his time at the Dees over. But to see "delisted" next to his name just feels wrong to me. For an ex Captain who gave his all during those horrible years I wonder if there was a more dignified way to help him exit. Feels a little bit North Mebourne-ish and clumsy.
  21. Matt Jones is no longer a list clogger. After 2015 he went away, worked on his fitness and skills, and came back in an impressive condition. From memory, he played round 1 this season. His kicking has improved, his game awareness has improved, and he does one thing well that Roos loves - he plays the role assigned to him. He is another one, just like Jetta, who has improved out of sight under our new player-development emphasis. I don't see him as best 22, and younger players will overtake him easily, but I would not be letting him go while we have a handful of players who definitely offer us nothing.
  22. No way he will leave. He is a WA boy through and through, and Freo's next captain. As a professional footballer, his manager would be remiss in his duties if he didn't explore options, but in the interviews I have seen with him he doesn't seem motivated by money. Perhaps the current status of the Freo list may pose questions for him but not enough to leave.
  23. I would expand the thanks to include our president, Glen Bartlett. I know he is low profile and his public speaking can be boring, but his quietness, behind the scenes ground work and business acumen have done a lot of unsung work for MFC. The fact that he lets Roos and PJ do all the public stuff, and he is happy in the background shows a wisdom and dedication to teamwork that shames oth3r clubs like Collingwood etc... These three men - Roos, PJ and Bartlett - have done moer for us in 3+ years than all the falsse dawns of Barassi, Stynes etc...
  24. His physical presence and maturity in our backline is what allows MacDonald to fly formarks, Jetta to dodge around people, and players like Wagner and Hunt to develop. I love him as a player and reckon he would be a fairly decent human being as well. Daniher almost single-handedly stuffed his career up, and to see where Dunny is today is a huge tick for hard work, perseverance and resilience. I wish the Dees had some more like him. Is he Matthew Scarlett as a full back? No, but then Matthew Scarlett was the only Matthew Scarlett. We are so much bett3r with Dunn in our 22.
  25. I still have to do a double take thinking that the grandson of a Collingwood Weideman is playing for the MFC. I hope he hecomes a gun, but a bloody Weideman....
