  1. Why? Hawthorn are ruthless at this sort of stuff themselves. Refer Hale, Gibson and Gunston from Adelaide last year. Instead of being the hunted I think we should continue with going after good Out of Contract Players. Clark, Dawes and Byrnes shows we can do it. We should have the cap room and help the players we want get the best deal, improve our list or at worst clog up other clubs salary cap. We could become real pests now. Wouldn't stop at CR either, lets get after some of those good GWS and GCS kids nicely tuned up for us after two years in the system and who may want to come home. Anyone out of contract at Carlton?
  2. If he gets a run next week, his performance might give an insight as to his first game prospects. Hope he makes it, but if he doesn't he'll get his chance before long as he looks a polished and potentially damaging unit. Would like to see Blease , Toumpas and Byrnes causing a few headaches for others and running into spaces created by Dawes and Clark. Having a couple of premiership players in the forward half shouldnt do us any harm. Re other selections Misson has indicated Clark and Trengove should be right for round one. (JT could end up the sub perhaps) Blease and McDonald would be walk ups. So just maybe, we could go in with a decent looking outfit to start off with.
  3. Concur. Why do we not have Blackmores as a sponsor?
  4. Don't think the AFL does transparency!
  5. He did well IMO. He's not the only bloke on our list with a few things to work on. Lynden Dunne is 25 and has had lots of time for example and perhaps there may be a bit of a contest for a spot coming up here. Only a practice game but you can only play against who they put before you.
  6. Very pleasing stat and a good answer from the kid. Tappy also good . I hope the pressure is now on for spots.
  7. Some blokes just get a better run with things re injury than others. Gawn, Evans Taggert and Davis in the same boat to some degree. Would be more concerned re those that haven't had any injury and haven't fired a shot. Some get a crack over the weekend. Would be nice to see a couple stand up and move past the potential stage.
  8. Went ok last year Dunny but I haven't given up on Troy Davis yet and hope he continues to put pressure on the back six. Gets a bit of a chance to present this weekend, like Fitzpatrick and others and I hope something good pops up.
  9. I think thats at the spirit of it and other clubs/AFL may 'smell a rat' at our proposed revised tactics. At draft time we knew he was a proposed 2014 player did we not, notwithstanding that recent events may have shown him to be more advanced. The other side to it is that its likely we have to burn a kid currently on the list. Sorry much as part of me would like to have him on the list, dont think it's the right way to go about it.
  10. The $500k was a total w..k! But the door was left adjar for a soft , easy , typical AFL quick fix. We just have to be smarter with this sort of stuff. I can't imagine Neeld finding himself in this predicament.
  11. And something exciting to talk about. Reckon Viney , Toumpas and a couple of others might start turning the lights back on.
  12. Agree. Being totally non aligned, I just see this discussion as a vehicle for perpetuating a 'flogging a dead horse'. What is done is done . I acknowledge the Gardner administration for what it tried to do and I acknowledge the current administration in the same manner. Its pretty much a thankless task. Who knows who lagged? Might come out in the wash and if it does we can all make our own judgements then. For the time being , is there a chance we can pull our heads in, get behind the joint and support the club and the young and encouraging playing group we have. Who knows we might start getting somewhere if we moved in the same direction.
  13. Would like to see something from him too because have found it difficult to know if he can play or not. Max certainly is the right size, but he isn't on the park for the third year running due ongoing injury which puts a cloud over things for me. ( I note Tappy takes a fair bit of heat on this subject too so I hope they both prove me wrong) Jamar has had one good season and these days seems to be tap ruckman only getting very little of the pill or kicking goals. He is also realatively short for a ruckman these days. Spence gives it a shot and has some grunt but also been there a while and yet to take the next step and impose himself. So time for one of these three to step up soon or we need to improve through recruitment for me.
  14. Tynan and Davis are also options down back. I like Col and he's shown he can play some really good footy for us. Some good signs last night.
  15. My kingdom for a decent ruckman! Hurry up Max.
  16. Some say perhaps even faster and earlier and even assited, but who cares, he's gone and its been done to death. Seems the truth and integrity was the biggest loser with this whole episode. Sound familiar? Take Toumpas anytime and I haven't even seen him play.
  17. "And we had to swallow some pride by letting a great servant and a bloke doing his job take the fall". Some might say he screwed up. I think I agree with them.
  18. Its over, many of us don't like it in some respects ( for me its the AFL 's missed opportunity, Gillon another 35-40 yo AFL wizzkid who I wonder if kanckers have dropped ? Plus a very dodgy position vivs a vis club. Nothing at all so far to make a call on him other than limp party line) but time to move on. Had a chance to get t right but blew it maybe. I doubt if therewill be any more answeres Fitzpatrick and co have not implicated other clubs. Some may call it spineless, but there you go.
  19. Hard to find a good goat. Ease up!
  20. Good kid. He'll be ok! Tough as goats knees and he'll hurt people!
  21. None of the above. Very tall athletic ruckman to deiver to Grimes, Viney, Jones,Toumpas and maybe Frawley. Giddy up!
  22. Big call. He might be second best.
  23. We've put in a couple of premiership players, Viney, Toumpas and Hogan and a couple of other hard nuts. Happy for the games to begin.
