  1. Brayshaw has ben ok. Harmes and Vander zero. Max winning again Viney and Vince ok . A lot more from Jonesy needed.
  2. Boy they look miles quicker than us. Our lack of speed evident early.
  3. Any chance the MRP might get back in touch with reality and sort Gibson out. Whatever happened last time has meant zero. 4 weeks might help get the message through.
  4. Leadup TV prior to tonight's game, just corny crud. Carey and Ling J.sus H Christ. The host whatever his name is , well lets just say different and McAveny should be doing the races from Hong Kong. Is this the best 7 can do?
  5. Hang on a minute , it is Leuenberger being discussed for first round compo right ? Hasn't exactly shot the lights out as a player has he? Realise the AFL generally ignores precedent and couldn't give a stuff about such matters, but wouldn't they be creating a future problem for themselves here?
  6. You forgot professional corkers, kneedroppers, coathanger merchants amongst things they are allowed tog et away with ,that others ( exFreo ) cant.
  7. Amateurs , need advice from the Feds.
  8. Interesting council on sports. Prefer Knox next door. Football in the Eastern Suburbs used to account for roughly 60%+ of all players playing the code in Victoria at one point, not sure of the stat nowadays. Some pretty big footy clubs and sausage factories ( from Auskick ,underage groups and seniors) often responsible for recreational activities for 300+ players per club, plus girlfriends, wives, parents and supporters. Sporting clubs cover the length and breadth of society, often provide outlets for disadvantaged kids and broken families . Generally very solid social citizens often massively overlooked by councils and their funding whilst the clubs pick up a fair bit of the social responsibility for them on weekends. So pretty good look from a tuned in council. Take a bow.
  9. Swans position is interesting . Buddy and Tippett soak up a large portion of their cap. Bottom three sides would seem to want to get around the three top draft picks. Maybe our pick could help Swans trade in the locals without to much pain as surely they wouldn't have the cap room to do much more experienced player/FA trading. So wouldn't surprise if things headed in that direction.
  10. Trade Max ? Can't believe it, but such is Demonland. We are all different that's for sure. Personally , love the way Max is playing. For the moment would like to get him and Hogan re-signed on decent contracts as a priority. It is crystal clear that it remains the midfield and another big forward/ goal kicker that needs to be sorted. Back half keeping a side to 4 goals is a fairly decent effort.
  11. Frost was 4-6 on May 8th! So what's with the 4-6 call today?
  12. Hope they sign up big Max soon . Taken a while to get him to the alter, but producing the goods now and is a very big unit. Apparently very popular around the club, has some aggression and just might turn into a protective leader IMO.
  13. Hope he continues with his great form. Unlike many, didn't freeze in the headlights.
  14. Don't agree with the Viney comment, but as a senior player feel Dawes has not delivered so far, I understand he was out with a calf injury for an extended period, but he has failed to impose himself on any game and goal tally is meagre . If this doesn't change Hogan can expect even more pressure applied to him as other sides would be like to worry less about Dawes. This is the rub, collectively our forwards don't give one another a chop out. Prepared to exclude Gartlett and Hogan from this, but our other forwards and those who rotate through there must impact the scoreboard or what is their role? Was going to also say that we could have had too many inexperienced players in NB, Stretch , Harmes and Brayshaw but that's a non argument against Essendon who had just as many juniors. Its the good old senior blokes who lack the grit shown by senior players in the top sides, who when the game is up for grabs, just grab it by the throat and get the job done. How Roos must note the difference between us and the swans in this regard.
  15. Reckon Roosy might go back a couple of years and put our first pick on the table and see what it shakes loose. Worked then.
  16. Uncle who played for them. Froggy Crompton lived around the corner, Ray Nilson lived up the street. Barassi. Best player I've ever seen. 1964 was there. Scully's performance and media's approach to it. ( Oops that's two things) Healy's defection makes it three. Loved Bluey Adams and Donny Williams charging up the ground, Big Bob Johnson was a star, but could miss them from 5 metres out.Went to a match against Richmond one day when we were terrible and every kick in went to Robbie Flowers wing, where it was just him and his opponent ( who wasn't a bad player, think his name was Palm). Don't know how many marks he took, or how many possessions he got but it was amazing.
  17. A Weideman on our list. If he was any good , how long would that last for? Somebody else might want the pick though.
  18. If they'd kicked 18.7 we wouldn't be home yet.
  19. I think we all know he can play, but today was a learning curve for him. Delivery was so bad, that at times it seemed to me that he was confused as to what he was supposed to do to rectify things and make a contribution. Maybe this led into a drop in confidence and I addition Max falling all over him must have made it a fairly ordinary day for him. Coaches will work through it with him. Hope that at some time during the week he says stuff it, that's not going to happen again. I think he's got the talent and constitution to deal with today and drag a few positives out of it. A lot of his game today was influenced by his team mates IMO and not in a positive way.
  20. Watched garland closely today. Sad as it is, reluctantly beginning to agree with STMJ and Titan.
  21. Very quiet on the iron horse on the way home. Just the normal third quarter induced depression permeating the carriage. Just who were our four 'occupying' the centre square during the first 15 minutes of this period and what were they thinking? Looked like a pretty fair job of opening the gate from where I sat. High quality match losing stuff. IMO big Max was good and a real handful for them , but where was the blocking and necessary work ethic to get the pill and then use it properly. We really can fall down when it gets to the grit and getting your hands dirty stuff. Some sides have people like Mitchell , Judd, Ablett ,Fyffe , Kennedys and Swan who just love thrive on this sort of stuff. The tougher it is , the more they love it. Unfortunately when it gets really down and dirty for us, we find new ways of screwing this up. Prior to this of course we played like millionaires and bombed away wildly ,but even so still were somehow in the game. To the bombers credit they worked for one another, sharked Maxy's hit outs, blocked ,scratched and scraped , played with fierce determination and they were away. Truly depressing stuff. I wish Viney had been let off the chain to find his own ball rather than worrying about bloody Heppell and I wish big Max had been instructed to mix up his pattern of hit outs a little earlier than the last quarter when he began to knock the ball our way. Whoever deals with coaching midfield blocking has some work to do, the four in the middle need to stay tuned in and toughen up and if one way of tapping the ball is not working , how about we get our sh.t together and capitalise on our advantage. Appalling stuff from the coaches box today.
  22. You might want to check how Treloar went on Cotchin on Saturday before we all go head over heels.
