Why Melbourne Must Hire a Coach to Solve Their Forward Woes
JV7’s dad, was an awful set shot kick early on but presumably through hard work and persistence was OK at the end of his career. So there is hope as long as we hope and don’t write off.

What's needed in 2024
Surely given all the kerfuffle that is going on in recent days, we need an in depth period of self reflection, and recommitment. Who amongst you is genuinely serious about getting the best out of yourself and from the team as a whole? Not who would like to, but who really wants to? Who is prepared to make sacrifices - personal, recreational, physical - for team success? There seems to be far too much self indulgence at least in some - I probably sound like a cranky old bugger (which I am) but if you are not prepared to go all in full time maybe you should look elsewhere or get another job?

He may have just burst? (Sorry - out of here) 🙄

Why Melbourne Must Hire a Coach to Solve Their Forward Woes
Just spread and break up the defence, even if nobody is ever going to kick it to you, they might to someone else !

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
Welcome to Demonland Shane. Just be warned and aware this can be a bit of a madhouse sometimes so take with a grain - no perhaps a big sack - of salt some of what you will be reading here. There will Inevitably some who will label you a failure, waste of space or worse unless you come close to the Coleman, the Brownlow and the Norm Most of us here though will support you and give you every chance to prove yourself Welcome

Sydney-focused Split Round to Open 2024 Floated
Just saying that Alice is a shorter trip than Perth or Brisbane, and really much the same as Adelaide and Sydney as far as travel is concerned. And 2023 aside, Alice is usually great non confronting weather. 👏 The AFL call it split. Maybe they can’t spell s**t?

Why Melbourne Must Hire a Coach to Solve Their Forward Woes
“Because of slow ball movement, our forward line was typically congested with defenders and our forwards weren't leading into space or moving much at all.” Good point, however the reverse could also apply - forwards failing to lead into space (or indeed to lead at all resulting in clumped packs) results in mids not able to find a decent target and hanging on to it longer waiting for an option. Either way significant improvement and change is required.

Too Tall?
mo64 - interested why you refer to JVR as a legitimate swingman. I haven’t ever heard of him playing in defence. Certainly Petty, and perhaps Smith but unaware of any others on our list.

Sydney-focused Split Round to Open 2024 Floated
I guess it would guarantee a top 4 spot for the first week.

Sydney-focused Split Round to Open 2024 Floated
Can’t open the link Is it a sort of pseudo-gather round as well as the one in Adelaide? WTF are they not playing a full schedule? Fans are desperate by the start of season. And won’t Tigers Blues be pi55d off not having their “traditional blockbuster trailblazing stupefying heart stopping etc etc” season opener?

Melksham set to play on in 2024
I may have asked but don't recall an answer. Did Jake have a 'conventional' ACL repair, or a LARS which was popular especially among senior players back in the 1990s - said to have a much quicker recovery though questions on long term (ie years) endurance? Some as I recall were in full training within 6 months or so. Also do we have any idea of the terms of Jake's new contract? Certainly wouldn't expect it to be near the level he would have been offered without the injury.

Any word on Angus?
He wasn't asked the right questions because the gutless AFL (yes, specifically you Gil and Dill - get a mirror though no doubt Gil spends hours daily preening himself)) did not want the distraction and embarrassment of appeals / court etc. Just plain gutlessness.

Trade Rumours 2023
…. and maybe his forward craft? That turns out well. 🤗 What could possibly go wrong? “Our aim is to continually improve the list, and get the right balance between talls, mediums and smalls, matching pace with strength and blending experience with youth. Of course character and leadership are also paramount “ May I please have the job as spokesman?

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
I have little doubt that repeated “easy misses” creates excess mental strain on the next shot. Try as they may it is hard to put these behind you - self doubt sets in. Still these are supposedly the best of the best and mental resilience should be part of being a top level player. Happens in golf to all us hackers, but even at the top where we see a lot of genuine mental self belief - but Greg Norman went through this. Has McQualter been appointed as a line coach, or not specified assistant, at this stage?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Fact is we went into both finals with threadbare C- forwards yet still were within a couple of better shots at goal, a shonky ARC and a spot of luck from getting into a GF. No I am not at all satisfied that we weren’t able to nail it this season but we came bloody close with a very powerful headwind.

TMac & Brown
Serious question that I don't have an answer for. There have been "knee people" advocating / advertising over the years (very expensive) stem cell intraarticular injections to help "restore" knee joints. Do any of our physios or orthopaedic / sports medicine people here have any personal experience or considered professional thoughts on these treatments. As I have read it there are a few enthusiasts and many who think it is the work of charlatans. Just interested. I would presume were it in the mainstream it would have at least been explored for Ben at some stage.
