Meanwhile, Casey who have played (and won) 5 games, together with Collingwood (3/5), Sandringham (2/5), sydney (2/7) sat out byes, and Southport (⅞) sit atop the VFL ?. Didn't Ross Lyon try that with Free a few years ago (and also at Geelong) - and it didn't work out at all well for them. As I recall it was the stimulus / knee jerk reaction to introduce the prefinals bye. Which in turn has slightly reduced the advantage of finishing top 4 vs 5-8.

If we beat everyone below us for the rest of the year the premiership will be a cakewalk. The other games won’t matter one iota.
