  1. yes they are, but usually at home. GWS took the foot off and never should have lost/drawn that game. The saints couldn't believe how lucky they got getting draw. But...... use it as a wake up to start off as they finished on Sunday.
  2. The Age is reporting this morning online that Viney is strong chance for this week. They may do a T Mac and match harden him in th AFL, or maybe avoid Etihad and next week in Qld.
  3. The context in this interview was that he had forgotten how hard the game is after such a long layoff, and he would normally have come through Casey to get that adjustment back, but they chose to get him match hardened in an AFL game instead. Works for me.
  4. Does Petracca know what the word professional sportsman means. Basketball injury 2 seasons ago cost him a pre-season and a wasted year then too. I'd be asking for a refund from him. Furious. These are the issues that separates the men for the boys.
  5. Great post. But remember the kids barely 21 if that. (How good at public speaking were you at that age, or any of us for that matter) He has leadership and professionalism all over him. Oliver, Viney, Hogan and TBD.... will lead the club as a group and the sooner the better
  6. In line with Mahoney's comment on SEN today. he also said Viney was only " a couple of weeks behind T Mac" Just reporting what he said.
  7. Josh Mahoney said tonight to KB, Doc and Dermie on SEN that TMac would be playing next weekend - " AFL or VFL".
  8. Repeat history and expect a different outcome? = definition of insanity. Lets hope he's flexible. The football world's microscope will be well and truly switched on next Tuesday night.
  9. Good post H as H. That's my memory of the Geelong games as well. I also was concerned after Brisbane, but after the first 1/4 against North for the first time I sat back and felt the team was in control all day and confident of a win, although tricky at times. That instils some confidence that last week won't be a repeat, but it does get down to selection and match day coaching as well. People are talking up North, yet they only beat the Blues in Hobart. Commentators are fickle and many its the first thing that comes into the head. Its a bit more complex than that. If Viney and T Mac were available I would be very confident about Anzac Eve. Its tricky drawing form lines on anyone exepcte GWS at present with confidence.
  10. Couldn't agree more. SWYL. Jones is capable , and does, some fantastic things each week, but not since Todd Viney have we had a true on-ground leader. Some say neitz was but the evidence of fragility over the early 2000's puts that in context. Selwood, Hodge, Barassi, Riscuitto, Worsfold just never allowed nor accepted fragility. Jack Viney's loss was immeasurable and I can't have him back soon enough to instail the missing component on ground. He is the key.
  11. I had 50 on hawks at $2.20. $110 collect tonight..
  12. Re-read the article. Its not overly analytical and doesnt' rate the ruckmen. Discusses a few but very superficially and lists the best 9 Which includes Max. Year 10 English Comprehension needed for this post. IMO
  13. Agree. He did a Jack Viney today. In the HFF members side a hobbling north player received a decent side bump from Salem while waiting for the ball up and pushed him over just for fun after the Roo player just got to his feet. A mean streak?
  14. Rapt they won but why on earth would you think north is winnable?
  15. Definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and expecting the same result. Demons v Roos has to be even money at this stage.
  16. The result makes the Lions game even more important this Sunday. Given the saints ( a rabble today ) beat the Lions by 4 goals last , what does that suggest would be an acceptable result Sunday? If its under 6 goals I'd be worried.
  17. Agree. I've had the teeth out and there's an element of shock in the procedure. He needs a couple of weeks minmum. He'll be there when the whips are cracking for sure. Just not yet.
  18. Fully Agree. We only played Lions in Rd 22 last year, and should have creamed them but didn't. This was the game that cost the finals. Whilst there were good signs last week, the Lions are better also this year. A narrow win will be seriously concerning. A huge win, maybe not that much meaning - unless backed up again against the Roos.
  19. I like Deespencers team. That' s why there should be changes. The loss wasn't close looking at the game and the stats. We should have won by 6 goals. Address the problems now, not at the end of round 4 when the team is 1 and 3 (and that's assuming a North win which is no certainty.
  20. Watts - the 2nd best outside 50 pass in the AFL. Taylor Walker was No.1 last season. Crying shame to lose that key skill set, but he had to go I guess for the FD to make a statement on behaviour..
  21. Possibly and hopefully ProDEE. I was interested to compare the attitudes of Sunday with the last game of 2017. The team seemed on from the start this time . But... lapse in 2nd 1/4 and my view of poor on-field/coaching box inability to recognise trend and address quickly remains. This is the major flaw in the football dept. The next 3 weeks will define the season. Again... no Viney and I get worried.
  22. This is the fear with wagner. 3 turnovers a game. Poor dispoal efficiency.
  23. Interestingly, in the Age today, 10 out of 12 tip Melb. to win. The only 2 for Geelong are the only ex-players - Carey and Bob Murphy. What might they know others don't? I trust their judgement more, but hoped to proven wrong. This story will run and run until Sept. Viney's on-field leadership will be sorely missed.
  24. The missing piece is between the ears and killer instinct
