  1. They need it though. The Gold Coast is a sporting teams black hole. Never should have been contemplated by the AFL and this will be an ongoing saga.
  2. Please expand. I'm not sure your statement proposal makes sense? Oh I forget - this is demonland
  3. I saw that too. A brilliant bit of 'clickbait' by Channel 7 to hold viewers through the ad break. Sheesh.!
  4. Half a Mill. for what he delivers? Has the world gone mad re: value?
  5. Well said. Even these days visit sydney and still see how miniscule the swans vovetage is. I was there tecently and couted 13 pages of nrl before a seans article in the sunday paper.
  6. Tigers will maul them.
  7. I attended the Cats game on Friday night and felt the crowd was nothing short of embarrassing for Geelong. Plenty of west coast support. You could fire a shot through parts of the ground close to start. Now going to pies prelim with a smaller crowd but more that Friday's probably. I fear the atmosphere for a GWS GF. The AFL will have to do what they did in Week 1 and have amplified crowd noise when GWS kicks a goals.
  8. Great post. Lyon is seen by the industry as a coach that gets good teams up to GF level. He does not take basket cases to do a re-build. Note Saints and Freo. He may see the Dees in this light. Good list that can be made great? And the Roos and Pert links
  9. Yes it is hard to call. But I'm not hearing the football director over there and footy manager getting the Axe. Which is wrong IMO. But 1 is Premiership teammate of Goodwin, the other a long term team mate. Who Knows?
  10. You're kidding right? As ceo i expect pert to be involved in all aspects of club. Especially given his own playing background etc. Good signs. No sacred coes.
  11. Agree with this comment above by Kelpien but Geez Jade - tell us something we don't know. Was obvious for all to see this year.
  12. No its not. Richardson knows the job. I like the way the club is so far handling outcomes of review. I'm happy to wait for AGM and a full report
  13. I suspect the inner sanctum of the Board/Executive/Richardson knew the role but needed to allow some to leave first to free up the responsibilities before announcing a role for Alan that intuitively means a number of others will be moved/or move on.
  14. Top notch coaching by Buckley last night. Down to 2 in last 1/4 with 4 goal lead managed perfectly. If only we had those types of thinkers inside Dees box.?
  15. He got heavily involved with medicos ( not in a good way) when jack had his foot problems. he;s not a doctor and should have stayed out of it. This was the early debacle I am referring to.
  16. Fully agree. putting the club second.
  17. Thanks for the comments on this. If Buckley can change, anyone can. I have faith in Pert and the Board not to sit on their hands after this year ( and last year's heroics)
  18. Good observation AH30. I also felt Garry was taken by surprise, and if so, then the club should be commended for keeping this quiet (up till this morning anyway)
  19. I was too wary of posting on this decision for obvious reasons but you have covered my view well. Very disappointed in the club not having a sensible and compassionate discussion with Nathan to guide him to a worthy and respectful retirement. (they may have tried though - who knows) Now we could have a car crash for him next year. I don't buy the earning the extension on leadership given our woeful performances under him at key moments in the recent past - Final round 2017 is the highlight in this regard and round 1 this year. Will be partly mitigated by skipper change.
  20. Not what I saw yesterday. I thought I was watching dees vs Tiges in first half. Huge collection of clearances and disposals (like us) to no effect on the scoreboard, although they did slow the tiges down after 1/4 time.
  21. I'm with Wiseblood on this. Each season generally 3 teams drop out of the 8, and 3 new ones go in. 2019 - demons, hawks and swans out Lions bombers and dogs in for example. Doesn't happen each year but reliable predictor There will be opportunities next year. Ball's in clubs court though. Skipper, fitness, game day coaching, strategy, list clean up, skills etc.....
  22. Just left the H after seeing first half of tiges snd lions. Tigers are everything we are not. Well drilled plan with all players buying in Foot skills sublime Forwards excl catagna all can kick straight for goal. Have natural forwards. Reiwoldt lynch rioli martin. - we have t mac Run wide and center ball more often . It was a pleasure to watch Agree about player quality. But just left the game. No way did i see any resemblance in style to tiges. More like Lions at present who seem to constsntly bomb to forward contests which are being picked off by tige defenders.
  23. Agree in full joeboy. Well done and thanks for all your efforts this season
