WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
satyricon replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
Had a bit more of a think and a read......if he gets fit he can be a damaging midfielder.....but he can also teach......Premiership winning player again.....the Footy Dept seem to be building a theme/team here -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
satyricon replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am usually supportive of what the Footy Dept do, but this one if true has got me 'baffled' -
.,....a choice.....to be a Melbourne Supporter....or stand in a corner facing the wall, chain smoking and having buckets of cold water thrown over you, whilst constantly turning to look back over the shoulder with the "Ride of the Valkyries" blaring out on a continuous loop.....we have only 'lost' Moloney and Rivers at the moment, we are only allowed a certain number of players...hopefully we will have what the Footy Dept wants......if it works great, if it doesn't I for one won't be bemoaning anybody we let go this year...
-
The one inclusion I am enjoying is Wines, assume we have somebody from the recruiting department on this board, so it is a given we are going to get him.....Pedersen is not a given now either once the Roos offloaded McIntosh

I was waiting for today's hairshirt for MFC supporters to wear, who cares, is there any danger of us looking forward for a change, I am sure the Cats supporters are not thinking about how Byrnes is going to tear them a new one when we play them next season...I agree with Oucher as of the end of the Trade/Drafting period, it is the players we have on our list that matter not other teams......
-
If I wasn't so amazed by what you wrote, I would be disgusted, last season Nev had worked digilently or diligently as it says on the MFCs ite, he was ready to go when he did his ankle and was out for four months, to get back into the side (yes I agree pretty easy last season), shows he is more than a show pony, he could have easily coasted with his rehab If he can get through unscathed this pre season, and if he does it will be the first time by the way, he will be able to show what he can do

What? do you mean because he is still a teenager of about 15 he is not AFL standard
-
So we are all looking at drafting a young (youngish) mid again, who have no experience at the top level, when we have Taggert, Tynan, Gysberts, Couch, Evans etc already who we can develop.....assume at 4 we will, as all seem to be mids, but think we are still looking for another experienced mid (if we find one) rather than have too many youngsters As for Pickles Evans, had a really good chat to him at the B&F, he has had issues with stress fractures, spent a lot of time with specialists to try to source the problem, thinks they may have found the problem, but pre season will determine that.......doing a law degree at the moment, so has his future mapped out....but to quote 'really loves playing footy' so is hopeful the injury issues are behind him

Gentlemen, this is commercial radio, the good cop/bad cop routine....imagine this, SEN, both say everything is fine at all 18 clubs, the AFL and everything in between, discuss for next four hours.......Trade Radio at the moment is the same with that [censored] Barrett as the bad cop..........everybody knows Brisbane blew it with Buchanan etc.....but hindsight is a wonderful thing......

I give myself the occasional break from Demonland, came back on today and actually thought this piece from WJ was excellent....of course reading Bluey's post reminded me why I give myself a break occasionally....sigh

Why is Fitzpatrick a mystery? Even though he battled diabetes during the season, he played fwd and ruck for Casey (yes I know it is only Casey), came 3rd in the B&F there, was named as emergency, came in for last game and didn't embaress himself We have a good selection of (a) proven and developiing ruckmen and (B) a group who can step in for a chop out (a) Jamar, Martin (who had a year cruelled by injury) Spencer (who got better the more games he had), Gawn (b)Clark, Fitzpatrick (see above) Sellar I think we will trade one if the opportunity arises, possibly Martin (by all reports he is open to a move) But we certainly don't need another one
-
Recruting the 'right' players is not reliant on just a good recruiter, it depends on the picks, the depth of the draft talent, club needs, the player not getting injured etc etc......it was not a put down, why are we even looking at it, because a few of the consistent put-downers on this board says that everything that has gone wrong lately rests at the feet of Barry Prendergast What is your definition of a top team? the last one the won the premiership, consisting of rejects from other clubs that were recruited by supposedly good recruiters...ie Essendon, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Richmond

Jesse Hogan & Dominic Barry now Dees!
satyricon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was pre listed with GWS one of the many concessions they have/had, not sure how it works but we now have him, maybe the Club site will explain it in a video or something, it gets too complicated as long as the Club says he is OURS...that will do me -
Jesse Hogan & Dominic Barry now Dees!
satyricon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is a hint there, Barry is Indigenous, watch the video on the MFC site, I am over the moon, another sweet left foot, grunt with Viney and silk with Barry...could be anything -

Is this official? Can't wait for an 18yr old Hogan to suffer at the hands of Demonland. -
Has the MFC shot itself in the foot?
satyricon replied to Demonsterative's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am a poster on Demonland I will believe anything said on "On the Couch", SEN. by Damian Barrett, by Paul Roos, by Grant Thomas and anyone else looking for a cheap headline I will have my opinions formed by a mixture of the above I don't know why Shannon Byrnes joined, nobody else wants to? Give it rest, we are in day two of the trade period, let's wait till the end of November and see what the list looks like And for the record, being on Twitter whilst Barrett was rabbiting on yesterday I bombarded @traderadio and @barrettdamian, asking him to back up his theory that NOBODY wants to come to MFC with facts.....did one get read out.....NO!!!...strange that -
Haven't we done this to death, or are some posters just bored and thought wny not give a few people a kicking AGAIN........and read the review....Cook had an interrupted season....... If he gets delisted then the Footy Dept will have their reasons, if he doesn't same applies....nothing written on here will change that

http://brandonhays.c...e-culture-myth/ http://www.stuff.co....of-team-culture You will also find that this Culture thing started when Leading Teams became more involved with AFL, now let me think do they do their consulting for free...I think not....perpetuate the myth...that way it is needed
-
Sir, I doff my hat to you, beautifully put, you can try reasoned argument on here, it doesn't work, they need a cliche to continually beat the MFC players/coaches/footy department/administration with

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
satyricon replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's ok lets pass on Jack Viney who is a gun junior player with no guarantee (although he has shown a bit) and pick up another couple of untried young players........then when they fail or get picked off by another club we can all whinge.........why not just wait and see what eventuates...4 pages of speculation and bluster fed by an article in that fine publication the Herald Sun.,..damn Barry Prendergast leaving...now poor old Tim is getting the kicking
