  1. All of the players should have been made to put on a hairshirt, face a corner and have cold buckets of water thrown over them, for crying out loud, what do you want them to do!!!!..they went out and had a drink did they!!!!!...what did they drink......surprised they had the 'bottle' to show their faces in public.....please, they are human beings perhps they just needed to sit down have a beer and relax....don't forget nobody died on Saturday...a bit of reality please
  2. It is very interesting that a past player who actually loves the Club is not allowed to vent his feelings or frustrations, a find that a bit rich on here
  3. I couldn't make it to Skilled on Saturday (some would say thank god), and planned to watch the game in a local pub, but I live quite near Vic Park so popped along to watch Casey Reserves, Jack Fitzpatrick kicked six goals and did some sublime tap work in the ruck, and Kelvin Lawrence tackled anything that moved in a Frankston shirt, according to Jiice Newton who was also at the game, he had 18 tackles upto 3/4 time.......Casey won by 160 points, went away thinking that Fitzy and Kel would have a good future at MFC if they keep going like that. Popped along to the pub with my partner and watched the future dissolve in front of us, I wished that Kel Lawrence was playing alongside Jordie Mac a couple of times during the next two hours, but then reality set back in....I have never had such a high and low in footy in all the years I have been playing and watching...in such a short space of time
  4. This post is one of the reasons why I have kept my powder dry since Saturday, I am as devastated and disappointed as everybody else, but drivel like this disgusts me even more If you are going to post try and at least make it something intelligent
  5. Yes some are impatient, you must remember the glass is always half empty with MFC supporters, Fitzpatrick is back again this week at Casey so hopefully his atrocious run with injuries is over
  6. What you need to do is recognise a bald head and a 'sleeve' sitting at a cafe in Mitchell St Darwin, Chunk Jones was very gracious/annoyed/amazed/etc etc when I went up and spoke to him......then continued along Mitchell St and bumped into Dean Bailey.......stalking on holiday, nothing better
  7. 1. All 'supporters' to take a deep breath 2. Dean Bailey to be given at least another year 3. The team has a crack in the last six games 4. Hope we don't make the Elimination Final as the flak the team would get from the 'supporters' if we lost would be unbearable, "I have waited seven generations to see them play in a fina!!!!!!" etc etc 5. Topics on Demonland not to be based on baseless facts 6. Have the young coffee maker who made my coffee on Level 4 of the Olympic last Sunday to be there every game, it was perfect...one can dream
  8. I actually tried to concurrently use them in unison but I went adjective over verbosity trying it....is subtely a small tv for submiraners...a bit of subtle humour there
  9. Oh no the sky is falling!!!!!!!....what a load of twaddle some of this topic is, if you were at the training run on Saturday morning, as I was, you would have seen Viney, Schwab, Connolly and Bailey standing in a group chatting after the session finished, myself and partner got a cheery good morning from Cam Scwhab as we walked back home past the G, perhaps he was looking at which light tower to hang himself from, and that was making him so cheerful Also the pre game function in Darwin on the Friday night, Connolly, Viney and Schwab all on the same piece of grass without punching each other. At the moment the Club is an easy target for the media, and as DB said it is a 'blood sport' to some journalists, listen to some of his replies in the video on the website from yesterday, he is over some parts of the media The Junior Mac issue was buried months ago, Sheahan to sell a couple of papers, has resurrected it, it was handled badly, everybody said so months ago, move on nothing to see here Greeny is in his first year as captain, he is learning on the job, it is not just the coin toss, why do you think that Beamer and all the rest are appearing in front of camera so often, the Club knows Brad was thrown in deep end without the full exposure to the media, it won't happen again. My well placed sources tell me only bad news sells newspapers. Consider this, it would have been quite easy for the Club to say sorry Brad has other commitments and can't make the show.....but it didn't
  10. Are you going for a record to see how many topics you can fit this statement into? I thought it was the Australian Football League, not Victorian Football League
  11. Careful, that is a brilliantly written, well though out piece, agree totally, we may be able to set a trend here...
  12. Hello, I just got back from Darwin after watching the team run themselves to a standstill in stifling heat to record a great victory. Yesterday I went to the G hoping we wouldn't get smashed, if we cut out the free kick and 50, Maric miss and a couple of silly turnovers we would have had a close game. We had ten players 21 and under. We ran out of legs in the last quarter, and it blew out a bit but we didn't give up, at the moment there are the top 4 and then the rest who will lose to the top 4 and depending on sets of circumstances will either win or lose against the rest Hawthorn are 3rd because they are crap right..... Positives Howe, Martin and Watts making saving marks in the back half (education continues, Frawley not giving up on Franklin when he had the right to. Everybody relax take a few deep breaths, not this year, but next when the 'kids' have a few more games in them, we have Davey, Bail, Grimes to bring back in if we need them....etc etc..and then the year after.....keep the faith
  13. Importance of the game - Every game is important, just like to see a Melbourne win Who will win - Melbourne Why - Because I will be leaning over the fence from my front row seat at TIO imploring them to Match ups - McKenzie will go to Rohdan to begin with, Rohdan is seriously lacking match fitness, and bury him everytime he gets the ball. Frawley will go to Scultz and the rest will sort themselves out Talking point - which Melbourne and Port will turn up - it could either be one of the best games of the season or one of the worst
  14. At the beginning of the season how was Daniel Nicholson rated, he was a rookie...it is all about opportunity....I actually asked both Dean Bailey and Todd Viney about Tommy Mac, if you ask a question you will be surprised...you actually get an honest answer....T Mac is a rookie, his first two years at the Club he couldn't get a clear run at it because of injuries....they offered him a place on the rookie list and he accepted. Forward to the start of the season.....he again picked up a slight injury but after discussions Kelly O'Donnell, because we now have some really good tall defenders. suggested to the other coaches that Tommy Mac may make a good midfielder. he has a good footy brain and clean hands.....five or six games in. albeit in the VFL, he is BOG with 31 disposals The one thing I like about the present FD is they think outside the square with a lot of players......before Roh Bail got injured he was playing a run with role...halfback seemed his natural place........I actually knew this was going to happen because I had asked Josh Mahoney what he thought Roh's future at the club was and he said as a run with...so his pre season was already planned before the end of the last one..... If Tommy Mac makes it....great, because he is being given every opportunity to do it by the Club...if he makes it at Melbourne even better...
  15. A post from a few months ago, Tom Mac again looking like he is progressing after the weekend, all this from a Footy Dept that is failing at every hurdle according to some
  16. Bennell I can uderstand but why Gysberts and Strauss, if there is a change it will probably be Tapscott for Bennell only, if you listen to Mark Jamar on BTG , consistency is the key
  17. This is only a rumour, but it has been confirmed not only by Eddie McGuire but also Andy Maher...that Tim Harrington has decided that the best thing for the Melbourne Football Club going forward is not to enter into any negotiations with any players or player managers till just before the start of the 2013 when Jack Viney will be the only player on the list. This will give the Club not only room within the Salary Cap to pay Jack a salary equivalent to the GDP of a mid sized Eastern European country but will also stop the speculation and rumour mongering that has been so prevalent in the last couple of months. When asked for a quote, Tom Scully who has just signed with the new South African franchise that the AFL introduced out of the blue halfway through the 2011 season....said "no comment".... .....on the coaching front it is believed the MFC is going to give Ron Barassi one more moment in the sun and appoint him coach for the 2012 seeason with Tom Hafey as his fitness coach.....as for the playing list with the success of Daniel Nicholson this season it is believed the club is looking at affiliating with Ricmond Central who are in the 4th Division of the VAFA and the nearest club to the MCG to provide the playing personnel for 2012 until Jack Viney is ready to play... I have discussed this post with a few ex MFC players, some insiders who are very close to the club, and the cousin of the hairdresser who cuts the hair of the Auntie and cousins of one of the present players and they all agree that this must be true..
  18. Yes why have a positive thread when we can revert quite easily to negativity and kick a few players of the team we supposedly 'support', sigh.....if you are not interested in a topic you do have the choice not to read it
  19. Just rpfc expressing his opinion, that means the rest of us are wrong
  20. Totally agree, apart from the reflux issue which I don't have, I think with some watchers of footy there is a bit too much alcohol or other stimulants involved in the watching......I would trade my soul to get Murphy at the DEES....
  21. It is a case of damned if you do damned if you don't..... coaching panel applauded for bringing in young players to replace players who Demonland posters don't think deserve to be in the team.... then the criticism if the young players have not got enough experience or body size etc etc to carry out the game plan consistently The players are given a game plan....it does not involve over handballing, turning it over, kicking or handballing directly to an opponent...this happens with the pressure......we have been missing not only a few of the stronger bodies but also the stronger minds at times during the season When Sean Wellman coached last season, our defence still leaked goals when they were under a constant bombardment or have you forgotten And just to test your theory, for every good player who turns into a good coach, there are others who don't or who are perceived as not doing well...ie Voss in Brisbane, they have been a basket case for two seasons......Hird managed to coach 5 losses on the trot, Primus and Port... We all do need to get a grip sometimes, being a Melbourne supporter has been a long and rocky road, and to use the footy vernacular the Club dropped the ball for quite a few years....We have now picked it up again and we are running with it, unfortunately the road is not flat, it is full of bumps, hills, obstacles etc etc If at the end of the season if the Club decides to clear out the Footy Dept then so be it...but until then yes be disappointed, yes be frustrated, but if you must vent your spleen...please take a deep breath and actually try and put forward an argument that is not full of holes....in my opinion of course
  22. The function is before the game on the Friday night, would think after the game would be too exhausting for everyone, believe there is quite a contingent going, we arrive the Thursday before....but don't partake I'm afraid
  23. I have already tweeted my thoughts to the Club, I think the interview with Jim and the Tribute on the Club site are all class, and everybody involved deserves a big thank you.
  24. Art, this topic is spelt Nicholson, not Bartram....but off topic for a moment..agree you can't pick one game, Bartram has been the model of consistency in the last two years, yes he has his perceived shortcomings but please.......as far as Nicholson.....great pickup in the Rookie draft....could be anything....
  25. You can be assured that the Club monitors this site, but as for 'true' supporter feedback I am not entirely sure this is "rue" as some of the views on this board are not balanced opinion and can get quite emotive and destructive But the Club does monitor and can see what is on the supporters minds, hence the output from the Club on the Club website and new initiatives appearing all the time I am sure if you look at the topics poosted on this board they range from who should be delisted (which usually starts after the first NAB cup game), to why do the bumper stickers fade in sunlight, so the Club gets to see a lot of output both good and bad. I would not go out of my way to advertise my presence if I was from the Club, as it lead to such things as Nathan Jones taking a break from all the vitriol he received on Twitter after the Collingwood game And no I don't work for the club
