  1. Yes.... I'm flying down from Sydney with my youngest son on Good Friday, but I'm not sure that I want to do the drive to Canberra... not to mention the fact that the old hip pocket can't afford two weekends' worth of accommodation on the trot.
  2. Only too well... so we obviously need even more of the oppositions best players out
  3. They need to penalise Harley Bennell for his indiscretions, so why not have him sit out the opening round as well. In my mind, he's their most dangerous player as far as the MFC is concerned.
  4. Yes those personally affected should contact the club and let them know how they were affected, but I think that you will find that the real issue is not just today's effort... it is symptomatic of the MFC's poor public relations over a long period of time.
  5. I would say we could probably get odds of 1-10 that the MFC do monitor Demonland and read these kinds of threads... so it would be nice if you, yes YOU MFC, could provide some kind of response here in this thread addressing the issue and stating what YOU intend to do about improving YOUR performance. It certainly wouldn't be the first time someone from the club has posted on here.
  6. I was just thinking exactly the same thing rpfc. Take-over bid on the cards?
  7. Or the similar conversations everyone used to have about Jones, Jamar, Pedersen, Jetta, Green, Frawley and on it goes.
  8. And winners over a pretty much full strength Hawks.
  9. Jeeeesus...the original post was a simple question, asking what D'landers would consider an acceptable performance in season 2015. I wouldn't have thought it would be so hard to just give an answer/opinion (positive or negative) in just a few words.
  10. It's an expression that has been picked up from American football, to the best of my knowledge. From the AFL Positions WIki page: "A player who is really good at setting up attacks from defence, due to their quality ball skills and decision-making abilities, may be referred to as a Quarterback (this slang term is a reference to American Football)." Call me a traditionalist, but I hate, no, despise the adopting of these terms which all seem to be taking away from the unique nature of our game.
  11. Maybe he had a craving for some ice cream from Slips Ice Cream Parlour... although he may need a time machine.
  12. You don't know anything, yet you make the definitive statement: "for so long we were going to take Ollie regardless of what else happened" Anyway, don't worry... I'm just nit-picking. Wines/Toumpas draft is history and I am not prepared to write off Toumpas just yet as this will be his first season that he enters with the benefit of being fully fit.
  13. We very rarely see anything but you know for a fact that we were strongly linked to Wines for so long? Yes, there were endless rumours flying around on Demonland, but I saw no concrete evidence at all.
  14. That's not true... for so long many on Demonland were convinced that the Dees were going to take Wines as he was Jack's mate... I don't ever recall seeing anything from the club in regards to Wines being the favoured option.
  15. Yep, you really were upset WYL - absolutely devastated: "Now Mark Neeld has some tough cattle. Lets go..." Yes, you changed your tune in a later post in that same Welcome to the MFC - Jimmy Toumpas thread, but that was two years later.
  16. Well OD, he was actually condemned by many for his poor decision making (trying to do too much on his own and turning into packs and getting pinged for holding the ball) as well as poor disposal by hand and foot... in fact, a lot of similarities to what Tommy Mac is being lambasted for. I thought yesterday that despite not having a lot of possession,Toumpas actually went in fearlessly when he was in a position to do so and we know his disposal by foot is very good... so I think that once he is completely up and running (remember was recovering from hip problems and appendicitis last year), he will start to show improvement.
  17. Exactly right on both counts... so, as we obviously cannot go back in time and change when he was picked, why don't we lower our expectations and accept him as a reasonable player who could improve and may yet make it. He is not A grade talent, you are right, but neither were Nathan Jones and Mark Jamar when they arrived at the club and after their first 3 or 4 years everyone was calling for their heads on a plate... Jamar went on to reach AA status and Jones is now close to elite.
  18. It was pretty apparent that Roos and his team were trying things out in the first half (experimenting with players in different positions to where they might be expected to be played), so it is very encouraging to see that we won the second half of the game which was when the team were probably set up in a more "conventional" manner. I thought that rather than appearing disinterested or lazy, Dunn was really feeling the effects of the conditions more than most (or was he possibly ill?)... he looked very uncomfortable, was perspiring profusely and was having trouble gripping the ball as a result. I think we'll see a different Lynden Dunn next week.
  19. Yep... hopefully they'll try a little harder against West Coast on Sunday
  20. Yep, Port were kept right out of the game last night
  21. Fair enough I guess, but I don't think I would be throwing JKH and Gawn out just yet... and I wouldn't be writing of Matt Jones just yet either.
  22. Seriously? After a single NAB Challenge game you are able to glean just exactly where we are at?
