AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
I reckon that if we trade up we’ll possibly throw in a future first (GCS pick) so we can get a high first plus a pick that could get us Dovistan (otherwise Pickett). If we just go with 7 & 8, then there’s every chance we’ll grab Dovistan with 8. As you can tell, I’m absolute dog [censored] when it comes to this sort of thing 🤣

2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I’d be happy for us to get Grlj, if for no other reason than to see what BT does with his name, and Dovaston… if we missed Grlj, I’m starting to like the look of Oliver Greeves. I haven’t seen any footage of him playing, but I like what I’ve read in Twomey’s Phantom Form Guide… “Greeves was unavailable to test at the Draft Combine through illness, with the midfielder ruled out of participating. The midfielder has put up some very good performances this season, and it's his capacity to go forward and be a threat that has clubs considering him early on as well. He kicked 4.2 from 35 disposals in Eastern's preliminary final, and also had 24 disposals and a goal in the Ranges' Grand Final win. A bigger-bodied midfielder who can easily shift forward and be a marking target.”

Oliver Green F/S
I actually like the look of Oliver Greeves.

2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I’m hopeful we might pick up Harry Dean, just so we can give him the nickname of ‘Stanton’.

State of Origin is Back
Actually my bad Macca…turns out he was born in Victoria and then went to NZ.

State of Origin is Back
He’s from NZ isn’t he? 😁

Rumours
What’s the likelihood of us taking Yze as a rookie? He was showing a lot of promise towards the end of the season at Casey.

RIP Amber Whalan
Thanks mate… no problem, I’ll try to find it myself (I’m a lazy sod 😁). EDIT: found it, but unfortunately it’s behind a paywall, and the usual trick I use for the Age and Sydney Morning Herald (turning off Java script in the browser), doesn’t work 😞

RIP Amber Whalan
It’s a bastard of a disease that sadly doesn’t discriminate when it comes to the victim’s age or situation. It’s so wrong that someone in the prime of her life and with a young family who love her, should have to suffer so much and be taken from those who love her, far too soon. Do you have a link to the article @Redleg ?

Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025
I thought that was a very good article which was a little more honest (transparent?) than anything I’ve read coming out of the club in recent years; however, my inner ‘Nosey Parker’ would love to have read the reason for Clarrie’s supposed storming out of his meeting with King and what was actually said at that point of the meeting (particularly Clarrie’s parting words). There’s a lot of talk about the new recruits such as Mihocek and Steele and the influence they will have on the playing group, not to mention May’s commitment to teaching the young up and coming players that will replace him in the not too distant future. However, the big unknown is whether King is capable of successfully implementing the plans he sold to the interview panel… I live in hope! I’m looking forward to season ‘26 with a reasonable level of excitement!

Realistic 23 for 2026
Hopefully we pick up Lachy Dovaston in the draft.

Farewell Christian Petracca
I don’t think it’s baloney at all… for all we know, I could be as old or even older than you 😉, although if the 1947 in your profile name is your year of birth, you do win by 5 years 😁 In this case I believe ‘trite’ is appropriate… particularly as the comparing of a footballer’s onfield performance (or lack of) with ‘being in the trenches’, is somewhat trivialising something as serious as trench warfare. Anyway, it was a tongue in cheek comment and is definitely not the first time this point has been made on Demonland over the years. Let’s just leave it at that.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Well, you actually didn’t mention anything about ‘discriminatory’, and as the Oxford describes that term as “making or showing an unjust or prejudicial distinction between different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, sex, age, or disability.”, I’m a little unsure of the point you are making. I doubt that you’re much older than myself so can you explain what your last sentence means. I certainly wasn’t inferring anything at all…merely commenting that the expression is ‘trite’ (if that’s what you were getting at).
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
It was a joke…but just out of interest, in what way was it rude? It was not directed at the poster, but at that phrase which is so often used and so inappropriate, in describing a footballer.
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
As you should be! You’re most welcome.
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
While I agree with the rest of your post, this trite old phrase should be put on the banned forever pile!

Grading the Trade Week
Does it really matter what these media pundits say? Not worth wasting energy on, in my opinion.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
And let’s not forget Noah Yze is a possible rookie (is there room for him?). If we trade 7 & 8 up, then I like the look of Robey. If we go with 7 & 8, I’d be hoping for Noah Hibbins-Hargreave or Grlj and Dovaston.

Grading the Trade Week
I haven’t seen it actually stated anywhere, but are GCS taking on all of Trac’s contract? If so, that really softens the blow of the Clarry ‘deal’, in which case I’d have to say B+ to an A-.

Letter from the CEO Post Draft
The part of the letter that I find a bit dodgy, is the bit I’ve quoted, regarding Clarrie… requested? Really? Takes me back to the old Bellbird days…Charlie Cousins, did he fall, or was he pushed? (oh, and Andy, you may want to consider a minor change to the post’s title 😉)

Farewell Christian Petracca
I don’t know the truth or otherwise of this, but someone in one of the Dees groups on Facebook just posted that pick 8 was off to West Coast. Anyone know anything about this?
-
Rumours
Yes, that was me and I apologise… however, in my defence, there’s still no mention of us making an approach, just that other clubs are showing interest; I’d love to see us take him.

Sharing My Ongoing Cancer Experience
A couple of more clips from that gig a few weeks ago follow. We will play another show on Saturday week 25th and then our 10th anniversary show on Sunday November 23rd. I’m still feeling the effects of chemo, even though I’m now almost a couple of months free of it… the peripheral neuropathy is here to stay, I’m having constant vertigo if I’m getting up from bed or from reclining on the sofa, my taste buds are still screwed and my energy levels are somewhat depleted. Other than that, everything is hunky dory. Anyway, here are a couple of tunes on my Instagram… https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOvVCLik5Cp/?igsh=MXJldXBmYTBjeGIwZg== https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOA7AQ-E5Fs/?igsh=c3V3Nzl3NzU0MzZ2

Welcome to Demonland: Changkuoth Jiath
I gave him the nickname of ‘The Difference’… now my son is certain that I’ve lost the plot! 🤣
