  1. Freo haven't exactly named a weak squad... looks like they may be taking this a little more seriously than one might expect: 1. Hayden Ballantyne, 8. Nick Suban, 9. Matt De Boer, 10. Michael Walters, 11. Tom Sheridan, 12. Jon Griffin, 13. Tendai Mzungu, 16. David Mundy, 17. Hayden Crozier, 18. Luke Mcpharlin, 19. Connor Blakely, 20. Matt Taberner, 21. Michael Barlow, 22. Tanner Smith, 23. Chris Mayne, 24. Max Duffy, 27. Lachie Neale, 28. Brady Grey, 29. Matthew Pavlich, 30. Zac Clarke, 32. Stephen Hill, 33. Cam Sutcliffe, 34. Lee Spurr, 35. Michael Apeness, 36. Alex Silvagni, 37. Michael Johnson, 38. Jack Hannath, 41. Paul Duffield, 46. Clancee Pearce
  2. Not complaining at all LDvC... I initially expressed surprise that Jetta wasn't there, but then my inner "grumpy old man" escaped his cage and couldn't resist responding to Demonland's comment re "fan site"... I too believe D'land and all admins do a great job.
  3. In which case, the fans responded in the poll with a resounding "No" vote (74% or thereabouts) to not including new recruits (Lamumba was on that list) and Watts had more votes than Dawes (7 vs 2). Alas, poor Nev was slotted away in the Others vote, so we will never know if he earned a place of not.
  4. I know it's just a banner, but I have to admit to being a little disappointed that Jetta didn't get the recognition he deserves. For a long time he was a popular whipping boy on these forums (along with Dunn and Watts among others), but last year he turned his game around and was probably the most improved player on our list (even moreso than the Ped). I certainly would have had him ahead of Grimes or Lamumba who is yet to play a game in the red and blue... yes, I know he's in the leadership group, but I would have thought players have to earn their place on the BANNER!
  5. Sorry, but I disagree entirely with this. By all reports, Hogan has had a relatively solid pre-season, has been doing all that is required of him and has not been experiencing any issues with his back. The MFC would know that they have the veritable snow flake's chance in hell of making finals, so they may as well go as hard as possible in the early part of the season in an effort to win a few games (or at least run a few good teams very close) and to boost memberships and they also know that the best way to do that is to hit the ground running and with some confidence/self-belief. . Injuries can happen at any time as we have already seen. These guys are professional AFL players who essentially live to play the game and to win regardless of the game's significance, so why hold them back?
  6. The thought did cross my mind as I was typing that response :-)
  7. It should be awarded a 9 point goal... just like in cricket if the ball hits the fielders helmet (if placed on the ground) a boundary is awarded.
  8. Well, I'm going to go against popular thought here and suggest that we will win against Port. We ran them close last year and I believe that with a half decent forward line and a back line that will actually be able to move the ball forward quickly, we are in with a real chance. Oh, and Toumpas will give Ollie an absolute toweling.
  9. Hopefully, once those players you list are gone, there will be a winning culture instilled at the club and their absence won't make a difference.
  10. A person's sexuality should not be an issue.
  11. Perhaps NB, but I thought that the Suns looked good already, and once they get up and running, they are going to be scary good...I only hope we catch them on a bad day in round 1.
  12. I thought he was moving very freely (just not match fit yet)... perhaps yours was a case of "wishful viewing" MD? ;-)
  13. I put this through Google Translate using "gibberish" as the source language and came up with the following: Dank seems like a full blown nutter, nearly reaching Picket Fence levels if someone says Jimmy (Toumpas) in the same sentence as Ollie Wines.
  14. He's done nothing so far... I'm actually starting to feel quite worried about our chances in the opening round... the Suns are looking very slick indeed.
  15. Deos it rlealy mtater Dasicytuter as lnog as it can be raed?
  16. Lin Jong is going to be a good player for the Doggies.
  17. OD, they were the team I chose to follow when I first arrived in Sydney in 1979... was not much later that they folded. I then followed North Sydney who folded, then Souths who folded (but were miraculously resurrected and won the GF last year). I am officially the kiss of death!
  18. Easts Bulldogs are a very good team (my son played against their U11's team in his first season). My son is in the U13's this year... not sure if they'll be up against your lot (they weren't last year in the U12's). His team were runners up last year against Cronulla in a very close game, so we're hoping to go one better this year.
  19. I'm inclined to go for the glass half full view, simply using the weight of numbers law... ashdemons22 also said: "Newton looks solid and found it allot pencil him in for round 1".
  20. Maybe Dunn was still rattled by the clown on a bicycle who had collared him after he nearly took out a motorcyclist with his car yesterday? (j/k J Mc)
  21. I think you will find that the AFL's own code makes it clear that the players are responsible for what goes into their own bodies (isn't imparting such information a part of the player orientation?)... so unless the AFL plans to rewrite their own code, I doubt that they can really go against it.
  22. It's bad enough that we have to have a thread once again dedicated to putting the boot into a player who is no longer a part of our club... but then to have it somehow morph into yet another put the boot into Watts thread? Spare me.
  23. What I was responding to was the "what if" scenario of the players getting off because they were "duped" and didn't know what they were being given.
