Farewell to Our First Pick in 2020
50 is worthless after that it depends on how we use it to assess value.

Farewell to Our First Pick in 2020
Sounds like a play for a trade but if not seems like a good idea if next year's draft is dominated by F/S etc.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Yoko is the band getting back together? The rest of trade week is like watching paint dry.

Farewell Sam Frost
I think I have defended Frost more than most over the journey and loved his frenetic runs, I will be sad to see him go. However sheer speed from the backline is not what we need but rather consistent and reliable ball movement. It's trite to say the ball in the air travels faster than anyone can run. If you look at richmond it was all about ball movement out of defence with kicks that retained possession either directly or to advantage. Frost doesn't fit that bill and if he wants overs then sadly he must go. The additional issue with his runs was he left the defence one short. I think that was the May heated discussion. A clearing kick to advantage leaves the structure intact.

Goal Kicking Coach
Interesting, I get the difference in ball movement but not sure this is the right approach to set shots (although it might explain the around the corner kicks from dead in front). If you look at rugby the all time great goal kicker Johnny Wilkinson just practiced with a set routine and to my eye it seems that is the best approach.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
I will defer my rage , facts are always awkward.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Was Darwin our zone? If so we go to all the trouble of having home games there and now we are cut out.

Goal Kicking Coach
My absolute bugbear. If you are playing at the top level set shot kicking should be a gimme in the 45 arc from the center of the goals 40 out.

Does the Tigers win give us hope?
If you look back it was not so long ago they were Ninthmond. The coach was under constant scrutiny, "can he coach?" was the media and supporter's refrain. As noted elsewhere it was only a few years ago that they cleaned out all assistant coaches and gave him one more chance. A solid list with a few stars but not stellar. Players like Grimes have improved with sheer hard work. Ninth at the bye they didn't drop their heads. I look at where they were and think we certainly can emulate that outcome. Houli in a post match interview stated how much the players love Hardwick and how he believes in them. Before last year I got that sense from our players. Last night their recruiting of two high profile players Lynch and Prestia really paid off. Perhaps we need to be bold again in that space. At this time of year we tend to focus on our woes and holes but are we that different to the old Ninthmond? I have some real confidence we can do it if we hang in there. I look at what the Tigers have done and see no reason we can't do the same.

Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
Makes sense to me. GWS will not be able to meet the demands of all of its 26 yo brigade who will want to cash in for their last contract.

Jordan Lewis Announces Retirement
Whilst I have been quick to bag the club this week, points to them for including Clarko in the presser and to him for joining in. I am sure it would have been appreciated by Jordy . I see he asked for job offers can the club take note.

New Captain
It's off topic but I do. He is not Rance but he is a very good backman when fit. Of course my opinion is that of a supporter but I think most commentators at least shared that view when we got him. That said I accept on performances this year he wouldn't get to average. On topic he is not yet qualified to be in the leadership group.

New Captain
May made a mistake and I think will come good next year, that said I don't think he should be in the leadership group given the events of this year.

Ross Lyon Sacked
Serve them right, I have never thought that either Scott brother could coach.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
After they decide which PP they are giving to GWS who are clearly struggling at the moment.
