  1. A phrase I am not used to saying at the end of first quarter: "In the bag" Some real positives from the game: Jeffy: is showing some real effort. Tyson: looking improved. Smith: (before the injury) looked poised and will only continue to improve next year. Salem; played a beautiful game.
  2. 6. Oliver 5. Brayshaw 4. Hogan 3. Salem 2. Harmes 1. Tyson
  3. Ridiculous suggestion, it would create more problems in his foot than it would solve. However a bionic foot might be an option, amputating his whole foot and replacing it must only be 4 to 6.
  4. Clarrie is terrific but better than Barrassi or Tulip yet? All I know is I cant wait to see if he is. Frost can be a player, he is really good at getting the ball and breaking the line and can be taught the last bit (not kicking in hope, usually to the opposition).
  5. Why would we rest anyone who is fit to play? The ladder is more volatile than Trump's twitter feed. Our absolute priority is to win at least 3 more games. Then we can think about what follows. Hogan causes headaches for the opposition and effectively won the game for us Saturday by winning his one on one. We just cant take the Suns lightly.
  6. 6 - Gawn 5 - Brayshaw 4 - Oliver 3 - Hogan 2 - Salem 1 OMac
  7. I liked Jack, was sad to see him go and would like him to do well (except against us) however the game against the swans was the first time I watched him without my Red and Blue glasses on. For the first time I saw what a lot of posters were talking about when he was with us. He will need to improve on that outing and Hinkley was being kind to suggest he added anything to their structure.
  8. Absolutely thrilled he has another chance, good luck Jack you deserve a bit of that after the hands you have been dealt.
  9. How hard is it going to be to penetrate our defence! Roos would love it.
  10. No they may be right, pick 27 only then.....
  11. An interesting historical question which have more to do with cricket or just a lack of co-ordination when the grounds were first built. Perhaps the best question is why wasn't Etihad built to the same size as the MCG?
  12. All quiet on the Western Front, just being dificult or something else in the way?
  13. Robbie57 replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
I had hoped he would rebound, a quality person who did everything the club asked of him. Loyal and clearly respected by his teammates. I wish him every success.
  14. I thought they were making the sandwiches for the trade period. I dont think we should get Hibberd if all he wants is peanut butter as we need to be an allergy free team. Mahony is apparantly baking some sausage rolls as well always a winner.
  15. I have no idea about his talent but I am wary of any Essendon player who has been on the sideline. First I am not sure a year off is either mentally or physically a good thing for a player but their routine changes (the holiday pics only confirm this in my mind) and they start the off-season a long way behind everyone else. Second they must carry some mental baggage from the whole saga and there is no reliable precedent to judge how they will perform/react. The fact he doesn't want to go back suggests at least some baggage and having seen some ex Essendon players talk in the media its clear they still have real issues about the whole saga. Third we dont really know if the baseline of their previous performance was affected by the program at Essendon. Finally Goodwin maintaining a connection to his Essendon days just seems to me to be a bad idea. He needs to build something new with his team at Melbourne and find other players with the qualities he requires (and admired in some players at Essendon). So I would not like to be giving up a pick to get someone with all those issues. Its hard enough being an AFL player. If we get him gratis so be it. We have taken a risk with Melksham and I see no need to double down now.
  16. Oh dear just finished pages of the usual craziness. What is missing in the media stories is the insiders saying "he will go" to the contrary they dont think he will. That suggests to me he is not in the category of those who did go. We had an 8 day break and let him have a break, sounds like good management to me and doesn't look like a nervous club. More imporatantly unless I have missed something recently we are winning games not solely based on him which is terrific. We have a future which is clear to see and it will be dificult to walk away from that. In my opinion unless there are strong personal reasons to go he will stay. On another topic whilst Prestia is on the ground he is someone we would want I am concerned at the number of injuries he gets. However our recruiters are not putting a foot wrong at the moment.
  17. Funny how the circle turns I grew up with a particualr view of his name but now it seems a virtue, a hard at it player.
  18. ....transfer it to Hogan for a 12 year deal.
  19. A snapper or a flathead?
  20. Why would anyone trade for a player at risk of disqualification (however short)? Just doesn't make sense to do it.
  21. I'd expect Gawn to be signed up in the next Month.
  22. I love what the club is doing with the players ..... They must have loved it. Will the hulk be at the game.
  23. Just reading the tea leaves here but I think we are really into Brayshaw which is why we cant get the deals done because we want to hold onto pick 2. I suspect if we had pick 1 it would be used on Brayshaw by Roos (he has mentored him this year as has Alistair Clarkson).
  24. Saints going to trade for 3 picks in the top 21 so there is no certainty that he will fall to us at 2. Given that announcement and Roos views on the draft we can expect that our picks will be traded.
  25. This may be worth a thread on its own but can we get rid of Bradshaw from the commentary. He drives me nuts saying the obvious and the down right wrong. At least chappelli can blame his age for his failings, his anti sledging rant in which he claimed it didn't happen on his watch was breath taking. Anyone else want Bradshaw removed?
