  1. Another very fortunate Richmond win that will add fuel to this ludcurous talk of fhem being a flag contender. They will get absolutely smacked in the finals again. It's time to move ahead of Richmond and North next season. Bog ordinary the pair of them.
  2. Correct call. Heartbreaking circumstances in what is a tragic event, regardless. Footy is well and truly in the back seat for a man who loved the game as much as anyone.
  3. IF you're going to play two legitimate rucks, why would you gamble playing Jamar after Gawn/Spencer worked so effectively? The potential downside is far greater than the potential upside in that decision. If it was coming off a loss, maybe, but coming off the best win in god knows how long?
  4. It's obviously naive to think that this is isolated to the Suns. That being said, it's something that clubs should be allowed to deal with in-house. I don't think this necessarily requires a heavy handed approach from the AFL, beyond education programs. Players place their careers in major jeopardy, which if they care about their career, should be deterrent enough. Let's not kid ourselves. Young adults will experiment with drugs, irrespective of their legality. There was a time where it entailed a toke of a joint or the drop of an acid tab. Times have changed and there's only so much you can do to halt change. In the club environment, advise the players of what is and isn't acceptable and deal with them accordingly, but do it in-house. Don't demonise these young men as though they are major exceptions to the rule. In terms of the broader discussion, dealing with alcoholism and its associated incidents is at least as pressing an issue. Stricter implementation and enforcement of serving times, lockouts and closing times would be a good start, and I'd be all in favour of lengthy jail terms for one punch kills. Anyone who resorts to alcohol fuelled violence, as a general rule, has a history of such behaviour. They should be treated with zero tolerance Incidentally, I don't think we are in any position to be casting judgement on poor culture. MFC's culture of the last decade hasn't exactly been the blueprint for success.
  5. I'm opting to take a deep breath and see how we go this weekend. Let's not forget this club's history of ripping hearts out of chests.
  6. The line is 23.5. I reckon we can get within 4 goals of them, so coin has been laid down. The last time I did this was against Richmond. Hopefully it's a similar outcome.
  7. Nothing short of deplorable from the Swans in the second half. Richmond took their opportunity though, so credit to them.
  8. I feel the same way about Richmond.
  9. An expert. Every public mouthpiece seems to have an opinion on Watts v NicNat. What better way to settle the debate than to match them up on one another? Tongue in cheek, for those of you playing at home.
  10. Watts v NicNat competing in the ruck. It's a pundit's wet dream.
  11. When was the last hiding we dished out? I really think we could slaughter the Bummers to the tune of 10+ goals with the way the two teams are travelling. It's a nice looking run home, but nothing is a certainty. I'm just enjoying the feeling of being confident we can win any of those matches.
  12. The best performance of the year with two clear best 22 players to come in, both KPPs. It's a head scratcher. I'm wary of seeing the ruck combination jeopardised, but it worked against a pretty weak opposition in that department so Spencer might be the unlucky one to make way for Hoges. Whether Gawn has the juice to run out a game in Darwin against an in form NicNat is a big question mark. But going too tall is also a danger with a slippery ball. I can't see Roos dropping Dawes and honestly, I thought he competed pretty well on the weekend. Bail probably the weakest performer so he makes way for Garlo. Out: Spencer, Bail In: Hogan, Garland
  13. Geeze, he's added some bulk. Good on him. Hope everything pans out well.
  14. What a story it would be if he was to finish off the season in this fashion and make the AA team.
  15. This is where DLand needs a tagging option. Update required, praha.
  16. The question I am now contemplating is whether this is THE game. The one to look back upon as when the rise started in earnest. I know many believe that has already happened, and that is true in that the wheel has already turned from the debacle we once were. But in terms of genuinely going into each game and believing we can win, was this the one? I thought GC in Round 1 might've been it, until it was revealed that GC were a trainwreck themselves. I reckon this is a big win in more ways than one, I'll say that much.
  17. It's hard to think of a bigger steal in recent times. He's become one of my favourites, if not my favourite. The skill. The swagger. He's a very welcome addition.
  18. There's something about Goodwin I like as the future head coach. Maybe it's blind faith but he gives off a quiet, confident aura. He won't panic when the going gets tough.
  19. You gotta love the way Toump-ass plays. To everyone else he's Toumpas. To Sandy, he's Toump-ASS. But he's still a million times more tolerable than Dwayne.
  20. This sums him up perfectly.
  21. Selwood is a [censored] for sure but I don't believe he would say that.
  22. Haven't read the whole thread but Jeffy deserves another mention. 4 goals in a performance we're almost coming to expect from him. Love your work Jeffy.
  23. It was the icing on the cake to have this toolbag calling such an epic win against his beloved Cats.
  24. Decent game. 19 disposals and a few important score involvements. If he can bring that every week there can be no complaints.
