I like the fact he's getting more of the pilli in the VFL. He is at least showing that he is willing to be more mobile around the ground. He'll get a recall next week. Unless we smash the Brions, which seems highly unlikely.
-
Agreed. I would've liked to see him play tomorrow but not to be. If the aim is to finish the year with a flourish, we shouldn't be locking out a senior, experienced player in strong form. Need to test how he and Maxiumus can work in tandem and try to assert some dominance out of the middle against the Saints.

He does and he doesn't. His block list on Twitter is infamous, in that anyone who questions his stance on anything seems to earn themselves a block. He tends to get extremely defensive when he is challenged, which isn't the hallmark of someone who doesn't take themselves seriously. I admire and enjoy his passion for the game. But he's pretty much comic relief on 360 for me. I listen to Buckley, Whateley and others for educated football talk. This is all drifting away from whether we've improved or not I'm willing to reserve final judgement til the end of the season, but there it still a mountain of work to do. The Cats game fooled me. Fool me once etc. It will take 3 or 4 consecutive performances of at least that level for me to be convinced the corner has been properly turned.

I agree with alot of that. I don't mind Robbo on a personal level and he's good to listen to in a pub conversation sense, but I can't respect him as a serous voice on anything, including footy. He's ignorant on almost every subject not involving Melbourne nightlife and football, and he's a shocking writer. It's absolutely amazing that he is employed as a print journalist, let alone risen to become chief journalist. I'm not knocking him for getting there, but it's just amazing to me because he can't write.

The improvement can be questioned, but my god what a dog's breakfast of an article. You could tell me a 12 year old wrote it and I wouldn't blink. No cohesion whatsoever. Just a bunch of stats and stating the obvious with the odd metaphor randomly thrown in to sound clever.

How did you end up following the Mighty Dees?
P-man replied to Frosty Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
1. How did you start following the Demons? My old man. 2. Who was your very first favourite player and why? Garry Lyon. He was the first Melbourne player I watched that had real star quality. I think he's a bit underrated if anything. He was a mighty player in my memories of him. 3. Best moment as a fan? 2000 finals series Freo comeback of 08 Inflicting Roos worst loss as Swans coach (oh the irony) - "The Dees are gonna be something!" Salem's sealer against Essendon last year 4. Worst moment as a fan? Wow...how long have you got? 5. Anything else you would like to share? Dad passed away a couple of years back and I wrote about it here. The response to that post was pretty overwhelming. There are alot of good people here who deserve to see their team have some success. Demonland is an invaluable asset for us interstaters who have scarce contact with fellow Demon fans, and I'm very thankful to those who run it. -
I would agree this is pretty much the reasoning. I don't buy into the theory that Roos is playing him for this reason, but Howe's trade value arguably goes down further by him being dropped than by letting him play poorly. It's more difficult to mount a case for a player deemed not good enough to make the best 22. Henderson isn't playing at his best right now, but he's still getting game time and his trade value will remain high at the end of the year.

Didn't Toump also have 11 or so tackles today? He's clearly being given instructions on developing all parts of his game.
-
I love Crossy, but his lack of kicking skills have been more apparent of late. Not keen to look up the stats for the game but he's been turning it over quite a bit the last few weeks. I'm happy having him there given the lack of on-field leaders but I also wouldn't be totally opposed to seeing a kid blooded in his spot once we get close to having a full strength list towards the end of the year.
-
OD, you're becoming a bit picket fence-like with your Toumpas posts. You don't rate him. We get it.
-
No.

I agree and appreciate that. But to be honest I've revisited that position at least 20 times. Like most of us, I'll stick with them like a bloody sap. But I'll defend to the death my right to express my disdain for the way they waste my time and money by turning in dog performances like that. Any self respecting AFL side should've belted that Essendon side into oblivion. We're back to being the second worst, if not worst side in the league. It's unbelievable really.

Yeah, I'm being tested. It's just one sh!t sandwich after another. I read the reviews but really couldn't find the desire to capture my own thoughts. We were dire. Goal kicking accuracy aside, we were absolutely dire. Again. The rest is painting outside the lines. Reading Redleg's post that he wastes his time investing in the club really hit home. Some of our most dedicated supporters are genuinely questioning why they bother. As they should.

I've had a gutful of this club.
-
Putrid and predictable.
-
So Plan A is bombing it to an outnumbered contest. Plan B is...?
-
Truly terrible. Embarrassingly awful.
-
Decent game of rugby so far.

They are our bunny, at half strength, missing their captain, with a shattered psyche. We are pretty much playing a lame, brain damaged rabbit with one eye. I'll be a little upset if we lose.

Never seen that Lucky Stars program before. Terry Wallace reading out the "prizes" given to Liam Picken for appearing on the show is one of the more awkwardly funny things I've seen in a while ("mmm lovely").

You can't seriously be so naive as to think Abbott has prevented any deaths. Relocated some deaths, perhaps. Sorry, I see you use the term "Team Australia". Anything is possible.
-
Some of the commentary is warranted, but I think some are pre-empting his exit and that is affecting their judgement and comments. He's not nearly as poor a footballer as this thread is painting him to be. Certainly he's not been at his best of late.

What is your favourite TV/Radio commentary team?

Wrong crowd, mate. This is the "let's all bash the living suitcase out of Howey" thread.
