I agree if he were at WC or Sydney he would be in the top 25 players of the afl. Anyone who thinks MFC issues has anything to do with the list or recruiting are kidding themselves its player development (including culture) we have struggled to get the best out of our talented and not so talented for many years

So do we just send them back to the store and they do it?

Wow wouldn't that be something if that eventuated? Would prefer dangerfield to Goddard though if we had to choose. Think it's all a bit of wishfull thinking but pretty sure any one would take that in a heart beat

Think we had the 19th man in the last and made no diffirence. Win the contested footy and keep possession and you will win games with or without umpires as all good teams do!

Can someone update on these jumpers? I have one purely for the reach logo but with the EW disaster no longer want it what are my options don't really want the new jumper with new logos either?

Yeah it's a very tough one I'm 32 years old have been a mad Melbourne supporter since my dad took me to the 1987 final. I have 3 kids all of which I signed up as Melbourne members from birth. My wife is passionate Carlton but understanding my live for the dees happily let me do so. My eldest daughter now 10 gave up/lost interest in us 4 years ago and is now a bulldogs supporter (well after tonight she is thinking of following Carlton with her mum) My second daughter now 7 has no interest in watching Melbourne or any of there players she wants to follow Richmond (this started last year) My son 2 years old I have not signed up again just yet I probably will just not a high priority right now but I would love for him to want to barrack for Melbourne but geez gonna be tough to keep him onside! I have a few nieces and nephews that are Carlton and collingwood who constantly hang it on my kids for following the dees. My 7 year also said tonight "dad did you know in my class no one barracks for Melbourne" I said really and she said "actually dad I don't know anyone at my school that barracks for Melbourne" very sad indeed

Back on topic I would be very dissapointed if this club ever tanked again I am ashamed that I ever cheered for my team to loose thinking it was best for the future! Well guess what getting all the best draft picks doesn't automatically mean you get the best afl footballers. I want this club to want to win every game they play no matter who they play no matter were they play at all costs! Draft picks mean nothing to me anymore!

Good post. I have mentioned quite a few times in previous years he reminds me ALOT of Goddard, naturally as observers we compare players with past/current players they are appear most similar too. Goddard and watts have alot in common most notably there draft number and the huge amounts of critism both endured / are enduring early in their careers. Alot including myself thought Goddard was too soft and slow. I know the guy personally (know his sister/family really well) and followed his career as a junior he killed everyone he played on rediculously easy, was a great cricketer and basketballer could easily have played either at the top level also. Goddard is now one of the top level footballers going around with not many positions he can't play. I very much see watts the same type of player, I'm pretty sure he won't be the stay at home key forward more like half midfielder with a touch of half back and a pinch forward flank. He will be a very good player and if he were in a top 6 team now he would be talked about as the next great player.

I have no problems with gysberts at all he is a poor mans James hird in the making and I'll take that anyday. have faith people we will have our fare share of duds but trust me they arnt all duds and there will be some pretty good talent when they reach there mid 20's

This sponsor has to and will go. I think we are staring at the darkest day in the history of the club we are on our knees and every person outside the club is circling too lay the boots in on what a shambles we are! What happens over the next week for this football club is criticle for our future, the past 4 years have been very very tough with so many highs and lows but we had the one man that united the club no matter what he is no longer with us and I'm sure his legacy will have some effect but this is getting serious and concerning! I will never give up on the club I love but we need this club to perform on the field more then ever starting this week!

Pretty much a throw away line from Matthews as he tends to do from time to time. Clarke is worth every cent IMO he didn't have a great game yesterday neither did 20 others. But he made a contest chased and tackled exactly what we want from him. Once the game plan and skills are excecuted as per coaches instructions he will dominate games, he is big strong and fast with a good leap and grab. Love it how everyone lays the boots in when your down guess that's human nature easy to talk about the negatives rather then positives. And come on Ben Hudson really?? A better recruit that is such a bulls$@t statement he will not play anymore than 2 years will Brisbane benifit significantly during this period and challenge for a flag with Hudson in there best 22 come on no offense to Hudson but come on lethal

I'm an AFL silver member with MFC support have been for around 8 years probably a year or two of becoming a full member. How much do MFC get out of my membership? The only reason I'm hanging onto it is once I'm a full member I have a chance to get grandfinal tickets

I unfortunately won't be there either today recording it on tv and will definetly make the round 4 game. I recently purchased the new MFC reach jumper with the number 11 on the back if I were going today I would be wearing that with pride! RIP big fella
