  1. He reeks of something that's for sure. He was at the club for NINE years, and he cracked the top10 of the BnF ONCE, when came 7th in 2008. How can you be considered a good leader if you vastly underperform year in, year out.
  2. we can only hope he brings the same level of quality and success that he did in 5 of his 157 games for the club
  3. you have to wonder how these sort of things come to pass.. who is making these decisions? hard to imagine this has Roosy's approval stamped on it reeks of amateur hour
  4. I'm an unabashed fan of the thumper. Not since Jack Watts have I seen a bloke be so unmercilessly crucified by his own supporters for no reason at all. Mind you I've done some Watts bashing, but not in his first year FCS. I've seen Thump do some things that I liked very much and I reckon he'll be a good one
  5. just got home from the prelim to find my MFC membership letter it has Jesse Hogan photoshopped in a melbourne jumper alongside Viney, Grimes, Trengove, Jones and Frawley seriously that is embarassing also stiff to Garland, Jamar, Sylvia, Watts, Clark, Dawes, McKenzie, Howe even Terlich, Matt Jones and Tommy Mac, all of whom have earnt a spot before a bloke that has never put on the jumper I know it is not a big deal, and that Hulky represents a type of potential we have not seen at the club in a very long time, but sheesh...
  6. Totally agree The crybabies here are upset though cos he got injured and they want wins right now
  7. please provide evidence of this resentment re: Trengove/Grimes also, Robbo and Bruce were pathetic leaders JMac wasn't, but I am getting very sick of the revisionist mythology around what happened at the end of his career. He was 33 years old FCS, the club did the correct thing in the interests of itself before a player, after he left he played 13 games for that GWS rabble, big woop, in what universe is what we did anything other than what we should have? So if a 33 year old wants to go around again even though he is finished we should just say 'yeah OK that's fine whatever you like'. It is a classic example of how the media and anyone else who wants to take a shot at us can take any piece of history and point at it to explain why we are so [censored]. In reality, the end of JMac's career has ZERO to do with anything. It really blows my mind, at the time of Bailey's takeover the majority of us here couldnt wait to see the back of the old Daniher gaurd that had let us dowen badly for years, saying how great it was we were slashing and burning the dead wood to make way for talented kids. Of course everyone just changes their tune now, it really is sickening.
  8. ah no, you've included his first 2 years as a new draftee which obviously brings the average down. Three seasons prior to this he played most games. Nice try though.
  9. sheesh the bloke played 23 out of 25 in 2012, this year he had a few injuries.. that happens in football.. there is no reason to suggest it will happen again
  10. if it were up to me no other consideration would go anywhere even close, N.Jones sole captain for 50 good reasons
  11. my God how can you guys speculate on draftees like this.. if there's one thing I've learnt from the excrement of the last 7 years is that you read this write-ups and watch these highlight videos and pontificate and suppose a bunch of things and it turns out that when they get to the club and start playing in the big league it all stands for JACK SQUAT if you don't believe me read this: 4 – MELBOURNE – CALE MORTON Claremont, WA, Tall midfielder/forward, January 18 1990, 191.5cm, 78.7kg Melbourne won't believe its luck that a player some recruiting managers regard as the best in the draft will slip through to No.4. But that's the way the cards are falling, with Richmond certain to take Trent Cotchin and West Coast likely to pounce on Chris Masten ahead of Morton. Under this scenario, Melbourne will gladly snap up Morton, the youngest brother of Mitch (Richmond) and Jarryd (Hawthorn). The only other player who is a chance for Melbourne at No.4 is East Fremantle's Rhys Palmer. Bio: A genuine utility, capable of playing onball, off a flank or as a key position forward. Noted for his ability to read the play and strong work rate. He was exceptional for Western Australia during the 2007 NAB AFL U18 Championships, averaging 25 possessions and nine marks per game, earning All-Australian honours and the Larke Medal. Recorded a 15.1 beep test result at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp. From Hale FC. Pick #3 - Melbourne - Cale Morton, 192cm Pick of the Morton boys, Cale shapes up as a versatile tall wingman/HBF/HFF/CHB with the right match-up/FF....basically wherever you want him to play :thumbsu: Good mobility and agility for his size, and while not quite in Buddy Franklin territory has some nice tricks for his height. Very clean hands and showed in the champs that he is very sound overhead as well. Has good awareneess, makes good decisions and in combination with a penetrating kick which is elite standard already he has a high hurt factor. Pick 2 - Cale Morton - Wingman/Utility - 192cm 75kgs - Claremont - Tallish wingman/halfback with superb skills and a lovely long kick of the footy . Is very much an outside player who tends to be the playmaker or handball receiver but he doesn't miss too many targets. He links in well in this role and can kick a goal from outside 50. Needs to build up a bit body wise. Has good endurance and his pace is ok. He knows how to find space and is a one touch player. If he isn't receiving a handball he is running to space and getting a mark. Great talent.
  12. what if being with us for 3-4-5 years before moving on just stuffed their development, you can't be sure of such a thing not much else for Blease? I can think of a good half dozen brilliant goals he has kicked, that is certainly something
  13. but you're going round in circles again ignoring the basic question- how can you make the assumption that all those players would have been rubbish elsewhere as opposed to it being our fault for not making players out of them
  14. you've recognised the only one that matters Bailey sent us on a course where losing was not only acceptable but encouraged. It sullied our reputation and turned the passion of the group to water. That's what has led to the disgraceful position we are in now. "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it"
  15. wow we are getting Gaff, Swallow, Martin and LeCras, Roosy will be rapt
  16. Let's just say you are right about Strauss, Cook and Gysberts and they all should have gone 5/10/15 picks later. That doesn't even change anything.. because surely we should be getting some success stories from the second round anyway. Other clubs do this. See what I mean? Whatever way you look at it we are still scoring at close to zero percent strike rate after several years of above-average quality picks. This is being discussed cos GNF said JW is entitled to consider leaving because we haven't provided a club that is of league standard and I have to agree with him. I really hate to say it but you know there has to be a feeling amongst current players and future draftees that Melbourne is NOT the club you want to get drafted to. Not if you have dreams of being an a-grader anyway.
  17. OK go ahead and substantiate your claim then instead of just saying it and claiming it is gospel. 'A round or two' you say, so show me some evidence that the general consensus was that Blease and strauss should have gone in the mid 30s or even as low as 50. Kidding yourself.
  18. I'm not saying we got them either right or wrong. I'm saying the end resultant spudfest has nought,to very little, to do with the selections process
  19. nope I can only pay Cook on that, so that's 1 out of 45.. in any case the bloke never played a game.. that's some real bad luck there isn't it, or would have another club got him on the park? again, you need to apply logic. In 45 swings of the bat you have to connect every now and then.
  20. well obviously not according to Mahoney we do have the strongest hand
