  1. you've got to have the intellect of a dung beetle to call this type of thing 'entertainment'.. what century is it?
  2. LOL I didn't look here for 5.5 hours and there was about 240 new posts to read like most, I think this is the case at hand: deal is done. Perhaps not on paper but done. PJ stage management decrees that official announcement occurs at the exact right moment that moment is not right now therefore some time has to be bought with some excuse therefore the 'family discussion' line is trotted out. It makes no sense that he would not have already established the family situation by now, that would have been the first box ticked (after how many dumptrucks full of cash do I get, of course). As if he would have made all this gather steam without having it ticked first, that would be moronic. Also having 40,000 ppl mad at your family is not the wisest thing to do. He may have needed some other assurances to do with our finances, staff, draft picks etc assumedly PJ and the AFL have given him this and it's done with now. The amount of media ppl and others on this forum with their 'sources' is just overwhelming now... even with our collective MFCSS there are only about 2 posters even holding out. The discussion around assistants doesn't interest me for 2 reasons: a) Roos will know exactly what he's doing and b) just the fact he is who he is should mean we can get whoever we want unlike having to pick scraps off like the floor like we have had to the last 7 years. His price as many have pointed out is a moot point becuase he will pay it all back in spades My friends we may get to the point again where we are proud of our club and attend games optimistically. We may even like some of our players. We may even be able to heap carp on our Essendon/Collingwood/Carlton mates after a win. The players at this moment would be hammered at a bar somewhere, on this strength of this news just getting pumped for next year already. No more unknown assistants to guide them, we have the real McCoy - the guys like Frawley and Jones that have been around a while must be thinking geeeez it's about time! EFFING excited PS: Round 1 2014 at the MCG please
  3. 30 yr contract, the name of the club is being changed to PAUL ROOS, just what I heard guys source is usually impeccable
  4. that's crazy talk it's Roos' own words and the known fact he has met with the leadership group that has caused the build-up it's got nothing to do with that pillowbiter Lynch
  5. and we were one of the pawns necessary to sell the charade that he would be going anywhere but Carlton - who had already arranged an outrageous amount of money that no other club could match, to paid to him by an absurdly wealthy supporter through a salary cap loophole. Cash is king and everything is smoke and mirrors.
  6. the latest news is that basically everyone in the country reckons it's a done deal but it hasn't been officially announce yet
  7. Roughead just won the coleman with 3.1 goals a game If Jack does that every week he's won me over that's for sure
  8. I honestly just want to punch the face of any moron who spouts this rubbish. I have been clenching my teeth at it for 5 years since we drafted Watts. Stop for one second PLEASE and use your god-given brain: 1. Toumpas was rated higher universally and every club would have taken him at pick 3! (just like Morton, Watts etc) 2. We are not in the business of recruiting blokes based on who they are mates with 3. They are 1 year in to 10-12 year careers how stupid are you to pass judgement already 4. Every draft there are players taken at lower picks than others that end up better, it doesn't just go in perfect order you morons 5. How can you determine the impact of the development program/coaching at one club vs another 6. How can you determine the impact of being in a top8 side vs a bottom 2 side? 7. Toomp has actually been OK anyway! He has gotten better as its gone on 8. MOST IMPORTANTLY - WHO CARES? It has happened already and it cannot be changed FFS! What is to be gained by whinging about it constantly, just support your players FCS smarten up, you embarrass all of us
  9. and he is a surplus asset who can get some badly needed midfield quality in exchange
  10. performance was fairly indicative of the last couple of years - held up well for large periods but were absolutely monstered for one period 13 goals from 37 inside 50s is a great result (league average is bout 3.8 per), now imagine Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Fitzy in that equation if we can manage to get it in there more next year. Toumpas, Viney and Trengove to go up a notch, another elite draft pick, hopefully snag one or two others through trade, we might be OK under Roos
  11. FYI on the commentary G.Healy said re: Roos '50 and 50 adds up to 100 and we'll hear more about it tomorrow night'
  12. geeez we did not need that quarter. Massive second half coming up with careers on the line
  13. as they have been doing for a while, out of respect for Neil Craig, they are just waiting for the season to be officially over, which it will be in about 4 hours time
  14. First order of business: Tell Jack Watts he can't have players under his command that have a non-committal attitude, and as such he will be traded for the best midfielder available Second order of business: Appoint Nathan Jones captain with Grimes and Trengove as his VCs.
  15. I hate to be a wet blanket here but I think many of us are vastly over-anticipating what Roos is going to do for us. If it was 1991 and we had 22 of him it would be a different story! The fact remains we have major list problems. By my count we have 7 genuine footballers and a bunch of hopefuls, and a staggering number of aloso-rans like Tapscott and Strauss who seem to have no 'special' quality for any coach to unlock. The 05/06 grand final teams that Roos coached had Kirk, Goodes, Hall, Barry, O'Keefe, Bolton, Buchanan, Kennelly, McVeigh, Crouch etc. It remains to be seen to what extent they were a successful team because of Roos himself. We certainly do not have a group anything like that at this moment in time. Of course it is a big step in the right direction but let's not get carried away and raise expectations too high, particularly early on. He still needs to rebuild his list, instill a new gameplan and mould the players into the team he wants, erasing years of bad habits in a group with zero confidence and very little heart. For one thing I don't see how he can 'fix' the issue that we have a list full of blokes that make outrageously bad skill errors with staggering consistency. What could of course make a big immmediate impact is if Roos' signature creates the opportunity for us to draft in an established quality midfielder or two. However, I for one will be looking at 3-4 years from now in a team headlined by Viney and Hogan for any genuine on-field results... (but you never know...!)
