  1. also Machiavelli's post suggesting that by talking up a near-future successor coach we open up the floor for ambitious assistants to get on board. If we said Roos has the helm for 5 years then some with senior coach aspirations might shy away. Makes ense to me. As others have said, it also works for us, should the unthinkable happen and we want rid of roos early we don't want to be paying out like 5 mil on his contract... obviously. I'm at peace with it now.
  2. Yeah but to be fair, Roos has the swagger and confidence of a bloke that has a shirtload of runs on the board already
  3. ROUND 1, 2014 FRIDAY MARCH 21st 196 days until we see a Roos MFC team with Hogan at FF
  4. I hope not, I would rather have a win to start off the Roos era
  5. Trengove, Gysberts, Blease, Strauss, Morton and Grimes.. these high draft pick midfielders recruited over 3 years, at this stage... none have become a genuine elite midfielder. I'm thinking the new Roos era needs to install established, quality leaders in the middle for Viney and Toumpas to play alongside. It's basically a given that we will appear on paper to lose some value for our picks but for US the value will be a lot higher than just more talented kids coming in and struggling aimlessly. I know Roos himself is supposed to be a big factor for the development of the kids, but he is only one element in this. Jones+Toumpas+Viney and 3 experienced recruits, hopefully a couple of McKenzie, Blease, Trengove and Kent and we are getting somewhere. The time of playing the kids should end now IMO.
  6. Jones averaged 23.1 disposals per game in 2013, which is ranked 51st in the competition.. our next is Magner at 108, Terlich at 119, Sylvia 127, M.Jones 129. Trengove as a pick 2 in his 4th season came in at 170th. So you look at that and it is obvious we are STAGGERINGLY deficient in terms of 'blokes that get a lot of the ball'! I would go as far as to suggest we should trade BOTH our early picks to get 2 or 3 solid midfielders in, it will make an immediate and signifigant difference.
  7. It felt to me like he already knew they would both be staying
  8. I suppose it depends largely on what happens - if the best case unfolds and we are say, in the top 6 or so at the end of 2016 I suppose he would be likely to 'bat on'
  9. still struggling with the 2 years factor
  10. meaning what? it's financial protection for us in case he's gotten nowhere in 2 years?
  11. someone tell me the two years bit shouldn't dampen my excitement
  12. yes and it's got to be sobering for the likes of Grimes, Watts, Howe and Trengove who are well down the rankings on where they 'should' be
  13. since the '50-50' comment it has been 150 hours - 2085 posts.. so that's an average of a post every 4:20 minutes 24/7 for 6 days.. really makes you realise how massive this is for a lot of people
  14. the majority of your posts are embarrassing stuff
  15. if we're offering $8 mil WCE would have to be offering at least $10 mil to go to the filthy old hole that is Perth then again they have more money than God so who knows
  16. at the time of the Judd charade, some cretin got on here and said he had heard from Judd's grandma that he was coming to the MFC. It has since been used a gag for people with their dubious 'inside' knowledge
  17. RF's bookeeper: the best insider since Chris Judd's grandma
  18. it's also the fact that basically every single commentator in the media thinks it's done
