  1. lol at the compulsive non-conformist who just had to vote for Kent
  2. I really hate these endless sagas and hence I have pretty much steered clear of this entire story Can someone do me a solid and give me the current update in a nutshell of what is happening thanks
  3. six including Hogan, then there is Toumpas and Barry. Also got Dawes this year. looks to have been a balltearer of a drafting/recruiting period at this stage, you have to give credit to Neeld for what role he played in that.
  4. it's not all about being disappointed in his actual output - it's his pathetic attitude that is the source of the chagrin
  5. JOnes was a first rounder.. what did he have to overcome apart from going bald at an incredibly young age
  6. haha yeah I remeber being down at Casey, it was a praccy, intra-club I think, he had a set shot on goal the first time I ever saw him.. it was one of the worst kicks I have ever seen and I wrote him off right there and then. Officially taken back.
  7. maybe getting drafted at pick 50 instead of pick 1 makes a bloke less full of himself and more part of a team
  8. I don't buy it On paper there should have been success from Hird, Voss and even Neeld and they have all failed. All that other stuff is circumstantial
  9. here it is again.. what in the name of god does my personal strength (or lack of it) have to do with ANYTHING? Are you suggesting it is fine to bag him as long as you are a tough guy yourself?? That doesn't make ANY SENSE. I wasn't lucky enough to be born with the physical gifts to get me to the AFL. 99.5% of us weren't. BUT WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT ME, ARE WE? We are talking about Jack Watts, taken at number 1, paid hundreds of grand, spent years with elite coaches and facilities supporting him, defended by his supporters and colleagues for years and he does NOT give his all for the jumper. Daniel Nicholson can't kick - or am I not allowed to mention that unless I am some sort of laserfoot myself. Get a clue
  10. I don't know why people make these statements about coaches based on nothing. Yeah OK he was a good player with a good attitude, we have absolutely zero idea what sort of assistant coach he might be
  11. it's not just that, it's also his wavering commitment to making any kind of physical contact or running beyond jogging pace
  12. the fitzdog! really has been a solid first 14 games in an absolutely shizen side. There is something there for sure
  13. how do you guarantee he won't just hop a plane home if he feels like it
  14. and by then he'll be bigger and stronger and more experienced too, should be a complete animal currently ranked #1 amongst rising stars for clearances and cont. poss. per match - the two most important stats there are for mine
  15. Paul Roo's has always been one of my favourite coach's
  16. the way he plays it wouldn't matter if he was built like Tarzan or Jane, never makes contact with anybody
  17. Agreed, it is hard to look at Geelong and not wonder to what extent they just got incredibly lucky to have 7 or 8 top shelf players in the same side, like the Hawks of the late 80s. I'm sure it has a lot to do with strong culture and good development too but you have to wonder
  18. Jack Watts working hard in the final stages of his gym session take it easy mate, we don't want you to run out of energy on match day again
  19. oh I really CBF getting into it AGAIN but every single other one of those non father-son picks was highly rated by absolutely everybody and taken at the pick they were supposed to be taken at. Anybody who thinks we made some sort of error in the selection process is just a straight out FOOL. Seriously. Think about it, it makes zero sense. Yeah OK maybe we should have taken NikNat instead of Watts, do you think Watts would have gone a single pick later than pick 2 for WC, absolutely no way. Do you think JW would be the same limp-wristed disappointment at WCE I somehow doubt it. The problem is OBVIOUSLY that the machine that is the MFC is incapable of producing star players for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, the promising young talent that is Jack Viney has the rotten luck of developing his career in this most dysfunctional machine of ours. To that end, it is very difficult for me to swallow all these 'superstar' predictions because the facts are that we have ZERO runs on the board for making this sort of prediction. I had to edit, cos the 'I' word was censored. That's right, the 'I' word. WTF is this, sesame street?
  20. Hogan in the mix certainly helps. One pitbull quality midfielder winning the ball from stoppages and a freak full forward slotting them consistently could go a long way to changing the group mindset.. here's hoping.. and praying.
  21. i'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you either way... I would love to think that a kid like Viney could dominate proceedings on and off the field that it really sets a tone for everyone else, removing the peahearted, weak, lazy attitude that has been festering for years - but I think it is unlikely without others helping. The thing that is scary is that when they were drafted you would have backed all of Morton, Watts, Scully, Trengove and Grimes to be the types to set this type of culture, all were touted as such... but obviously they have made zero difference thus far as we still play like we don't actually care if we win matches or not.
  22. and go at least a month without committing a crime of some sort
  23. i've seen plenty of highly rated draftees come out of the blocks well at the MFC have not seen a single one this century go on to be a genuine league elite. We have had 6 drafts in a row of getting premium selections and we have failed thus far to turn any of them into the 'real deal' sadly I can't help but wonder why it will be any different for JV
