  1. It does significantly change the perception though and influences the public/media pressure on the AFL to hand down a punishment. I don't know whether it was done purposefully or she had just failed to double-check her facts but each sin is as bad as the other in her profession. Overall I do like Wilson - she does report on many things others won't and clearly has people high up in the AFL leaking her info however I don't like the fact that she editorialises her reports with emotional hyperbole ("pathetic and disgusting") and seems reluctant to divulge any info that may paint her Tigers in a bad light. I also don't like the fact she will mount arguments based on facts that she refuses to discuss and expects people to take her word on certain things, something she does often on Footy Classified and on 3AW in particular.
  2. Our target should be 40K this year and 50K next year. Not impossible with decent on-field performances. Need to set stretch targets instead of aiming for 37K, stretch it to 40K this year so we can build on that foundation next year and aim for 50K which is the minimum of where we really need to be.
  3. Might as well shut the site down then
  4. The thing is that often those "B" games end up being better from a neutral perspective than the ones involving the "blockbuster" clubs. However Channel 7/the AFL go the "safe" option and fixture the bigger clubs in prime time/FTA slots as they have the larger supporter bases and due to the fixture being finalised in October it is impossible to say which matches will be the best ones the following year. The other issue is that the ratings figures do not seem to support the notion that Carl/Coll/Ess games in prime time/FTA draw bigger ratings but what it does give these clubs is exposure on a much larger scale to be able to grow/reinforce their supporter base and sell sponsorship at a much higher cost. The AFL needs to put in the effort to provide Channel 7 with the evidence that scheduling the same clubs each week does nothing to improve their ratings and may actually hinder them in the long run as 1) neutral supporters get "blockbuster fatigue" and sick of watching the same teams each week and 2) it is in their best interests to promote a healthy competition and the "Any Given Sunday" mentality of the NFL so that viewers will want to watch games regardless of who is playing due to the nature of the contest. They should also be told none-too-subtly that no-one gives a stuff about which players girlfriend is dating which other player, who the WAGs in the stands are and the contrived puns of the commentary team and would prefer genuine commentary and analysis. They are clearly doing this to appeal to the female demographic but it just makes them sound stupid and out of touch and the majority of females I know watch the footy for the game and not for all the other rubbish. The other issue in regards to this equalisation strategy is that it is not "tax" as the rich clubs would prefer to frame it but rather "compensation" due to years of getting shafted by league decisions.
  5. If it meant a fair draw instead of an unequal FIXture then yes, absolutely.
  6. 2002 we had Robbo and Bizzell playing CHF/CHB respectively. You don't win flags with two undersized good honest players in those key positions. We would have been shown up by the Pies or Brisbane big time (even though we did get that win against the Lion that year at the Gabba).
  7. Being able to do it every week would make him a star.
  8. Too one dimensional, could be a very good option up forward but definitely not "star" material.
  9. My dad also signed up again this year for the first time in 4 or 5 years.
  10. I'll never get the mentality of morons going out looking for fights. I've been drunk/on drugs plenty of times but never had the desire to punch anyone. I'm assuming it's because they're usually too drunk/stupid/ugly to pick up but they way they deal with it is just so cowardly usually king hitting someone who is not expecting it or picking a fight with someone when they have a group of mates backing them up. I think any assault especially on an innocent or unsuspecting person should result in jail time even if only a few months, there's just too many [censored] running around out there knowing there will be minimal consequences for their actions.
  11. Was that the "Dublins Jim" video from the early 90's?
  12. Let's see how they go against Freo again this year, got a sneaking suspicion they won't get over them as easy as they did on GF day. Swans should give it another shake as well and Collingwood won't be too far off if Buckley can get them playing as a team. I wouldn't write off Geelong either.
  13. Don't worry mate the level to which people on here argue over the semantics and minutiae of meaningless and/or offhand comments is quite bizzarre. I look forward to any further info you might wanna share.
  14. I didn't see them in action, but round 1 is still 4 weeks away with 2 more practise games in between. By the time round 1 rolls around these guys may be right.
  15. His running was exceptional to get the ball off and then run forward to create an option and get the ball back again. I thought Spencer was OK as well and am surprised by the knockers on here. He had to ruck almost single-handedly with his only chop-out coming from an 18 year old kid who played in bursts.
  16. Where did you see the info about the free trial pass sue was it on the app or AFL website? I couldn't see it on the app on my iPhone.
  17. Then don't post. I actually hope Lyon is able to provide Sylvia the leadership and kick up the bum he never got at Melbourne and he is able to get the best out of himself in the twilight of his career. He could be a very good player if his application was as good as his natural talent and being a follower of Australian Football as well as the MFC I want to see guys like this get the best out of themselves. I also wouldn't mind seeing Freo do well next year as I think they are a great disciplined unit who also have the flair to be entertaining. The fact that Sylvia was an automatic selection and probably our 2nd best mid behind Jones yet is struggling for a guernsey at Freo shows just how behind the best teams we really are and the culture change required to get to the top, not just thereabouts. I'm sure most of us are already too well aware of this fact but when presented with real examples the evidence is stark.
  18. One thing to be wary of when streaming from iPad to AppleTV is interference - I was having problems with my NFL Gamepass earlier in the year and figured out it was because the baby monitor I had set up in the same room was interfering with the wifi streaming. Even after removing this I still had problems with lagging/quality so ended up just watching through my laptop plugged straight into TV (NFL doesn't have an AppleTV app yet unlike NBA, NHL & MLB).
  19. What was the quality like? I've read reviews saying it varied from unwatchable (couldn't tell teams apart) to no worse than channel 7's SD feed.
