  1. Did any of you that attended also attend the R17 game at Glenferrie that year that saw Hassa Mann snap a goal to put is into the finals? I've recently received timecoded vision of the last few minutes of that game, nothing to write home about but it's good to see some of those guys especially Barassi and Mann who were only really names and pictures on a page come to life. The quality is pretty decent and it includes Hassa's goal to put us in front. When I have the time and can figure out how I'll upload to youtube and link it here for you.
  2. Of course those things are key (I should add I'm no marketing/PR guy usually that stuff makes me sick but in this situtation I'll make an exception) but I would've thought when looking to expand our supporter base a logo/emblem is the thing that catches the eye/attention and gets people looking at your "product" a bit more closely. What they see after that will determine if they become a supporter/customer or not.
  3. Being Melbourne and being the first is great and plays to the rusted on supporters but I doubt it will help expand our market share and grow our brand which is what a logo/emblem in this situation is about. I see no problem keeping the current emblem (maybe watered down a bit removing the flame, southern cross, script etc) for corporate use and creating a new logo with the Demon mascot for branding.
  4. I find it hilarious the southern cross has become some white pride Aussie icon. Do these idiots realise it is identifiable with the entire Southern Hemisphere? Pretty sure Brazil's flag also sports the southern cross it is not uniquely Australian.
  5. Some kids like that stuff, I loved the fact I barracked for the Demons as a kid they were fierce and evil in a cartoon way. Fact is if the team is good it probably doesn't really matter.
  6. I'd like to see them keep the emblem for corporate use but also have a "mascot" Demon emblem for branding. Pretty sure the Cats dot his and it works well for them. Having said that the current Demons they use (Checker etc) are fine for the kids so not really a big deal. My main interest in the survey is the word association thing and relaying my concerns re: the inherent problems within the club, the need for a complete cultural overhaul and the fear that Jackson, Roos and Bartlett while the right people may not be in for the long haul and may leave the job half finished and ready to fall apart after they leave.
  7. It's worth a shot but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  8. Get your hand off it mate - if you want to send some personal well wishes go through the club and encourage others to do the same, or cut and paste the posts you think are appropriate to send. We support our players but we support the club as well and sometimes we start thinking/posting about the effects on the club but it doesn't mean we stop caring about the players involved.
  9. So you did sign up after we signed Roos? Fair enough.
  10. How about you join up as a member? From memory you've said you won't sign up until we get a proper social club which is never going to happen. It's the 21st century not the 50's anymore. You spend so much time on here so you obviously care about the club but refuse to support them over some petty nonsensical issue. If I'm incorrect I apologise but I'm certain that's not the case.
  11. Hope it's nothing too serious for him - whenever they talk about vague "health issues" you always think of the worst especially with the crap hand this club has been dealt recently in this regard. From a selfish point of view if he is not going to play for MFC again (which looks exceedingly more likely as time passes) hopefully the club is able to work through his contract and start planning the future and present without him.
  12. Yeah but who's Peter Ryan anyway??
  13. Yeah but it may affect (effect? I always get those two confused) what we get back in return.
  14. Why do they do this to us. Just be quiet go along and don't say they'll be back until they're back.
  15. Yep and they're only 1 flag from equalling us on the premiership ladder and bundling us out of the top 4.
  16. That bloody Wilkes or Maister or whatever his name is will probably cause us headaches again.
  17. Tragic, just tragic - to go so young, I am just at a loss for words. RIP Dean
  18. Some recruits come in and play good footy from round 1, but for other clubs they go on to improve and find consistency whereas at Melbourne they rarely go beyond the level shown in their first game/year and rarely find consistency - this has been the case for as long as I've been watching the Demons (since the late 80's) - look at guys like Bruce, Yze and Green for instance all burst on to the scene in their rookie seasons but never developed beyond that level and never found the week in, week out consistency that saw them drag the team up with them in big games.
  19. He looks like a fantastic pick up and is a looong term prospect being such a young kid. Anyone know how he goes pushing forward, does he hit the scoreboard often or is he more of a stoppage/half back accumulator?
  20. From memory you know what you're talking about on this issue (physio?) so I'll direct this to you - what are the chances of the injury recurring? i.e. It would appear there is something in his training/running style that may need to be altered (notwithstanding the collision in the Geelong game) to prevent the stress on this part of his back recurring.
  21. It's more about the structure and options going forward he would provide rather than him winning games off his own boot. Without Dawes or Clark, Hogan would have provided that big option up forward to structure the forward line around and provide a hit up option coming through half forward.
