Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
Agreed mate, before the season I had making 2nd week of finals as par. Last year making finals was par and we shot a bogey, this year we've made par as far as I'm concerned so if we hit a birdie or an eagle it's all bonus for me (I'm a golf novice so if I've muddled up my terms forgive me). Weed has been a revelation for me, I didn't necessarily doubt him I just wanted to see it before I believed it. I did have lingering concerns he may be another Watts or even Lucas Cook but those have been violently laid to rest. What do we do next year when TMac, Weed and Hogan are all fit? Send TMac back? A nice problem to have.

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization
People were saying this about Brisbane 2 or 3 years ago, they've got themselves into a decent position now. The Gold Coast will be fine long term and the comp will be better for it

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization
The introductory of free agency was completely bungled. What they should have done; - Increase rookie contracts to a 2+1+1 with yearly club options on players from year 2 to year 4 - Reduce the salary cap floor - Players become restricted free agents after their 4 year rookie contract - Players become unrestricted free agents after 6 years in the system (not necessarily with the one club) - Clubs own players contracts and have the ability to trade contracted players without their consent - Harder policing of the salary cap and 3rd party payments - I've seen it suggested Tom Lynch's sister has been recruited by the Tigers AFLW side and been nicely remunerated for it - Consideration could have been given to "franchise tags" Too much was given to the AFLPA and now the AFL will be pushing [censored] uphill to try and give any power back to the clubs. Possibly with a large salary cap increase at the next negotiations the players might be willing to give something back.

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization
Our first pick is going to the Crows so the further back it is the funnier it gets.

Tom Lynch, free agency and equalization
Free agency was introduced to allow players with tenure to be able to move to their club of choice without impediment. It had nothing to do with equalisation.

Open Mike with Mark Neeld on Fox Footy (4/9)
He was given a directive to be tough on the players, that much was obvious. He went too far (or too hard too early in Sheahans words) but I wonder if part of that was because it didn't really come naturally to him and he was acting out how he thought he was expected to act. To be honest thinking about that time just makes me feel sick, I'd rather let sleeping dogs lie.

Open Mike with Mark Neeld on Fox Footy (4/9)
My favourite part was when he got kicked out of a Yoga retreat in Ko Samui the day after being sacked as Melbourne coach.

That must be what impressed Schwab so much in his interviews. "I have no idea what he's saying, he's a genius"

Finals Tickets
Our game will definitely be the following Friday should we win. Collingwood has to play in Perth Saturday night, if they lose they're not going to back up the following Friday when they could be scheduled on the Saturday.

Which club champion presents our Premiership cup on Grand Final Day?
RDB is the obvious but I was thinking the other day Danners would be a great option. Maybe one can do this year, one next year?

Finals Tickets
Full members also get half price GF tickets (~$200 instead of ~$400). Prelim tickets are around $200 these days so basically if you go to 1 final per week your membership pays itself off. I know people also scalp their GF tickets to pay for their annual subs but I haven't been game to do that - hardly anyone gets caught using other people's AFL memberships but knowing my luck I'd be the unlucky one who loses out the year before the Demons make the big one.
