  1. Classy midfielder would be much higher on the shopping list. Get a mid who can deliver the ball lace out and suddenly weideman and TMac will look at lot better
  2. Personnel won't change the opposition getting out the back due to our high press which results in multiple inside 50s but no scores. Once they get out they just stroll into open space which contributes to their accuracy. Most teams are scoring from the back half this year I think whereas we are still playing a forward press type game. Sometimes it might be better to allow the opposition easier exit from our 50 but choke then further upfield instead of pushing everyone up to cause repeat entries but then clogging our forward line so we can't score and the opposition having half a ground of free space when they eventually break through the press.
  3. Also kicked 2 goals. How did TMac go that day?
  4. No way he'll win the Brownlow. Couldn't poll last year when he should've been leading at the halfway mark, the umps either don't like him or don't notice his work. Agree he has had a good season after a bit of a rough start. Some of his deft tapwork is sublime.
  5. When were competing against 8 other clubs for player signatures it will out us at a distinct disadvantage. Dingley is seen as the boondocks and Casey is another half hour away. Im not from that side of town and every time I have to drive to the southeast suburbs it's a nightmare. Why would players choose that when they have other options like Collingwood, Richmond, Saints, North, Carlton, Essendon all much closer to civilisation.
  6. Casey is not feasible, it's simply too far from where most players will live and will put us at a distinct disadvantage trying to recruit players and will put our current playing group offside (ala St Kildas move to Seaford)
  7. Weideman actually had a decent game despite his two misses. He is the least of our problems and I was heartened to see his performance early where he was clunking some marks and getting to where the ball was.
  8. Don't worry though, the AFL will fix a problem they created which noone asked for by creating a Wildcard Weekend to fill the gap during the bye week before finals. Hell, soon they'll revert back to the 1900 model of "everyone makes finals" and we might actually pinch a flag again.
  9. He was the main forward in 2017 also when Hogan missed a heap of time with injury/personal issues. Being the main target doesn't add up as the reason, it's either psychological or physical (his toe injury).
  10. So in your mind you don't think we were any hope of winning? Strange considering we would have actually won had Weideman, Smith or any of the other shots at goal in the last quarter been kicked straight You're confusing a strong club with a strong team.
  11. It's not abuse to discuss the shortcomings of players. It's been happening for 150 years, good luck with changing it now.
  12. Didn't cricket Victoria just create a large facility at Junction Oval? I'm sure we could find a way to work around the boxing day test and a few one dayers/20/20 I take your point but it's just frustrating that our home, the best home, is right there yet we are forever homeless. It would solve all our issues, not just training but actually having a "home" for the club. If summer training is such a big deal then just use Goschs as we do now. If the hydroponic set up is only after dark that's not an issue as pretty much all our training is done during the day now anyway.
  13. When he kicks through the ball he slots them. When he tries to chip/guide it through its anyone's guess.
  14. Doesn't matter what was said pregame. The actual game showed we had the ability to win, and didn't. I'm generally not one to be a perennial critic but it's time for the excuses to stop. The strong clubs do not keep making excuses for losses. You can have reasons, sure. But the reasons don't stack up when we clearly had the ability to win and flat out choked. If this were a one off I wouldn't be so annoyed. But it's happened so often it feels like it's inherent in the nature of the club that these losses will keep happening. As supporters we need to hold the club to account, continually excusing these performances doesn't work. It's not the loss, it was the inevitability of the loss/Crows comeback once we got out to a decent lead. How many long time Melbourne supporters were genuinely comfortable at half time thinking "we've got this"?
  15. Omac out Tmac in defense Preuss up forward
  16. And the worst administered.
  17. This is what we should be pushing for. The MCG is our home, we were born out of the ground. The MCC needs to come to the party on this, we no longer have reserves and under 19s playing every weekend, the field is immaculate and can handle a couple of training runs a week. Then it's just a matter of sorting out indoor facilities which shouldn't be hard to accommodate. Stuff being near the G, we should be AT the G.
  18. It's part and parcel of the game, the sport runs on the passion of the people. Part of that is everyone has an opinion on it and if you don't perform you'll be criticised. Don't like it? Go get a 9-5er like every other Joe schmo out there and live in anonymity.
  19. We need a sports psychologist. Not sure if we have one but if not it is every bit as crucial to our success as Missons replacement.
  20. Omac out Tmac to defense Preuss in
  21. We play better everywhere other than the MCG.
  22. Nah sorry bing that's garbage. That game was ours and we lost it. We had enough players out there to win, we had enough of the footy to win, we had enough scoring shots to win. We choked. Again. Not good enough.
  23. Oh please, there were multiple reasons we lost. Set shot kicking is one. Oscars terrible performance was another. Do you think he is a player we should continue persisting with? I have seen him take fresh airs at spoils at least 3 times this year. He is useless, zero intensity, zero footy nous, zero skills. What exactly is he good at besides being relatively tall?
  24. He's been on the list for like 5 or 6 years. Spud. Delist.
