  1. Nice to see they added a token member from the continually kicked in the arse clubs.
  2. 2 of them are owned & operated by the AFL though
  3. Brisbane's resurgence coincided with Pedersen in the ruck last week.
  4. Yeah I was very critical of Wagner's selection in r1 but since halftime against the Cats he hasn't done a lot wrong. Salem has been fine, needs to get more of the footy but hasn't been playing badly.
  5. Hannan had 1 tackle, 0 tackles Inside 50, 2 score involvements, 0 1%ers & 9 possessions Bugg had 4 tackles, 2 tackles Inside 50, 6 score involvements, 2 1%ers and 13 possessions Not groundbreaking stuff but had a better game statistically and provides that forward pressure that is essential. Also did the job shutting down Hodge apparently and did a good job if that's the case. This also doesn't take into some of the other advanced stats like pressure acts etc
  6. Early last year he was talked about as AA potential until getting KO'd in SA.
  7. Why would you think that would upset anyone?
  8. I don't necessarily disagree with that. I don't think the MFC needs to be a martyr to the cause though.
  9. You just described marketing, advertising and capitalism.
  10. Yeah but he didn't punch him in the head, he missed a spoil and got him high
  11. Pigs might fly swyl. I note the AFL has recently stated that the CEOs salary will no longer be made public, if he was going to take a pay cut you can guarantee it would be all over the papers and tabloid footy shows.
  12. Fair enough, I'd say Pedersen is likely to get another year but the other two are likely on the chopping block.
  13. Oh please
  14. Is that a weird euphemism?
  15. They always come ready to play against us as they know they are a good chance of getting a win. We need to come out strong against them and not let them dictate the play and tempo of the game. If we let them come out hard without a response we will find ourselves down at quarter time again.
  16. Cigarette advertising IS illegal though; if it were legal I'd be for it. Maybe we should forego our partnerships with The Sporting Globe, Tyrrell's Wines and Coca Cola as well. After all alcohol abuse and obesity are both highly detrimental factors in society so it would be hypocritical to profit from them.
  17. That's fine that's your prerogative. I don't play pokies, I think they're horrible. I don't understand why anyone would pump money into a computer designed to take your money. But the fact is they are legal. The MFC selling their licenses to another owner makes no difference to the wider community but it does make a difference to our bottom line. I want to see the MFC be a successful and powerful club, we don't have the resources of other clubs like Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon, West Coast, Adelaide etc to draw on so giving up a highly lucrative revenue stream seems to be shooting ourselves in the foot. The benefit of doing so at this stage is unclear, maybe there isn't one and the AFL has strong-armed us into making this decision as we do not have the capacity to resist like a club like Hawthorn can.
  18. The only reason I'm not too concerned as they have made nothing but sound decisions since this administration took over in 2013.
  19. Would be nice if they assisted us by creating a competition with a level playing ground. AFL don't like clubs having pokies because they can see the huge windfall it is and more clubs willing to be independent of the AFL instead of just copping it sweet.
  20. Exactly bub, if the machines are to exist I'd rather the profits go to the MFC than anyone else.
  21. If the club uses the money from the sale that they otherwise wouldn't have had to invest in other areas that will reap similar dividends and if they are able to lure sponsors on board that wouldn't have otherwise come then I have no issues with it. If it puts a $2 million hole in our books every year it will be an idiotic move. This admin has the runs on the board so I'll hold my fire to see where this goes but it wouldn't surprise if they've been strong-armed by the AFL without having a real sense of how they will cover the loss of this revenue/profit.
  22. At least Moonee Valley Racing Club will pocket an extra $2 million a year.
  23. Why does there need to be a benefit?
  24. Mandatory 3 list changes every year. Who do you have ahead of him?
