  1. Our gameplan gave us the opportunity to kick a winning score in all games bar maybe the Hawks and Pies and even then you could argue we let our early dominance go wasted against the Hawks. I guess you could argue a better gameplan would see us with even more opportunities but I find it hard to blame the coach when players make skill/execution errors as they did yesterday setting up forward play and kicking set shots
  2. People don't like hearing it but it's true. Our lack of experience shows out in these types of games against battle hardened opposition. Our lack of composure is a symptom of our fear of failure. Once we get over the line in one or two of these games the players will start to have the belief and the confidence that they can do it. All of a sudden we're nailing those relatively easy set shots and putting teams away. It may not happen this year and it will be extremely disappointing if we throw away another chance to get some finals experience but the team is building. When we lost to the Saints I thought that was the game that would cost us finals. It might still turn out to be the case. Of course the irony is out of our 5 close losses that is the one we clearly weren't the better side on the day. I still have faith the wheel is turning and I am optimistic we will beat WCE this week. No nicnat, gaff, Kennedy, Schofield plus another one or two I'm forgetting. We play well on the road. We will go in underdogs. I have a feeling we will win or go down swinging this week.
  3. Similarly to the Hawks game in this respect, I guess a positive is we fought this one out instead of capitulating by 10 goals.
  4. We are turning things around. It feels like it's not because of the little losses along the way but the next few years we will be starting to hit our peak. Stick fat, it will be worth it.
  5. Our team doesn't mind the travel, they seem to panic most in front of the home crowd. I also think we match up well with WCE. Anyway I guess we'll see, that was my pregame thoughts but this one was there for the taking and we bloody [censored] the bed in horrendous fashion. Absolutely gutted over his loss today as no doubt everyone here is, it will be a tough one to get over
  6. We'll see, before the game I thought this would be a tough one, a real 50/50 game and I thought we'd have a better opportunity of beating the Eagles in Perth especially if Kennedy is still out. We won't beat the Giants tho so if we want to make finals it's next week or bust.
  7. He was terrible today, other than the goal he kicked with a few minutes left every time he touched the footy he turned it over or got caught holding it.
  8. Hogan owes us. 3 set shots missed cost us the game. TMac missed another sitter as well. So many opportunities gone begging I'm filthy. The maggots wrecked us as well, Sydney is the best team at pushing the envelope but [censored] me they were getting away with murder. Rampe continually has our players in an Indian armwrestle, they are just allowed to drop the ball out of tackles etc I'm absolutely filthy, I hate that protected mob
  9. Whitten was a thug on and off field if the rumours are to be believed
  10. I was showing my 5yo son the Electrifying 80s DVD the other night I couldn't believe the amount of elbows being thrown nevermind the fists and roundarms. It's just the way the game was back then whether we like it or not, Grinter did the same and we love him for it.
  11. Hawthorne been full of them over the years. They've also won a premiership every 4 years over the past 4 decades...
  12. I thought he improved a lot last year cementing a best 22 spot and has consolidated it this year. Early in the year I thought he was struggling but the last couple of months he's been fantastic.
  13. My dad kept giving me nervous looks as I belted out "it's a grand old flag" on the walk back to Hoddle St.
  14. He was dragged early on came back kicked 7 and we won a famous game (our last game at Vic Park) to knock the Pies off the top of the ladder - potentially costing them the flag. I was standing in the outer as a 10yo, great day at the footy.
  15. Any chance we get a rendition of Mustang Sally?
  16. Cancel my September holidays
  17. Yep the first quarter was brilliant Oliver's pass to Spargo a standout. After that I just wanted to make sure we got out of the game without injuries to key players..
  18. It was a tough crowd if you were there. I couldn't believe the amount of whinging going on when we were 70-80 pts up!
  19. "Yeaahh, good call ET"
  20. Having a look at the ladder predictor if we win our next 2 games we should be safe
  21. Game looks a lot better without navy blue and white on prime time
  22. Can anyone explain to me why Brisbane are favourites against North? Easy money isn't it?
  23. I find them boring to watch though. No long kicks just handball and short uncontested passes. Their momentum footy is frustrating to watch if you want the opposition to win as well, if you were playing against them you would just want to absolutely crunch them.
  24. That's part of the price for getting the Anzac Eve game. From the other teams perspective it's a bit rich to lobby for Anzac Eve and then complain if we don't get a prime time game the week prior to allow us a longer break. As long as we get the same break as our opponents I don't see the problem.
