  1. I don't necessarily disagree with that. I don't think the MFC needs to be a martyr to the cause though.
  2. You just described marketing, advertising and capitalism.

Yeah but he didn't punch him in the head, he missed a spoil and got him high
  4. Pigs might fly swyl. I note the AFL has recently stated that the CEOs salary will no longer be made public, if he was going to take a pay cut you can guarantee it would be all over the papers and tabloid footy shows.

    Oh please

    Is that a weird euphemism?
  7. Cigarette advertising IS illegal though; if it were legal I'd be for it. Maybe we should forego our partnerships with The Sporting Globe, Tyrrell's Wines and Coca Cola as well. After all alcohol abuse and obesity are both highly detrimental factors in society so it would be hypocritical to profit from them.
  8. That's fine that's your prerogative. I don't play pokies, I think they're horrible. I don't understand why anyone would pump money into a computer designed to take your money. But the fact is they are legal. The MFC selling their licenses to another owner makes no difference to the wider community but it does make a difference to our bottom line. I want to see the MFC be a successful and powerful club, we don't have the resources of other clubs like Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon, West Coast, Adelaide etc to draw on so giving up a highly lucrative revenue stream seems to be shooting ourselves in the foot. The benefit of doing so at this stage is unclear, maybe there isn't one and the AFL has strong-armed us into making this decision as we do not have the capacity to resist like a club like Hawthorn can.
  9. The only reason I'm not too concerned as they have made nothing but sound decisions since this administration took over in 2013.
  10. Would be nice if they assisted us by creating a competition with a level playing ground. AFL don't like clubs having pokies because they can see the huge windfall it is and more clubs willing to be independent of the AFL instead of just copping it sweet.
  11. Exactly bub, if the machines are to exist I'd rather the profits go to the MFC than anyone else.
  12. If the club uses the money from the sale that they otherwise wouldn't have had to invest in other areas that will reap similar dividends and if they are able to lure sponsors on board that wouldn't have otherwise come then I have no issues with it. If it puts a $2 million hole in our books every year it will be an idiotic move. This admin has the runs on the board so I'll hold my fire to see where this goes but it wouldn't surprise if they've been strong-armed by the AFL without having a real sense of how they will cover the loss of this revenue/profit.
  13. At least Moonee Valley Racing Club will pocket an extra $2 million a year.
  14. Why does there need to be a benefit?
  15. I was trying to look for him and barely saw him at all except for the odd handball here and there. He's such a great kick and only getting one per quarter he'd want it to be a bloody ripper
  16. Petracca Oliver Gawn (minus last 20 seconds)
  17. Did he play full forward today? I only caught half a quarter or so at the start but it seemed he was the deep key forward which is interesting if that's their plan for him this year.

I'm not writing him off, just saying I'll see it as a bonus if he comes on.
  19. Dr. Gonzo replied to Pates's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Some of his performances last year were underwhelming. I'm not saying he won't make it but I'm not banking on it

If Weideman ever becomes a consistent senior player for us I'll see it as a bonus and pleasant surprise.
  21. Just an update on this - it came in the mail yesterday (2 days after my son's bday) and was sent express post so not sure when they actually sent it, must've been Friday at the earliest. The balloons and candles are no use but my son will love the card signed by the players abd the personally autographed pic of Petracca.
  22. Did you try a different browser?
  23. What's your query?
  24. I'll add another one. I rang the membership dept a week and a half ago to clarify whether I had purchased the additional "birthday club" pack for my kids so they would get a birthday card signed by their favourite. All confirmed and advised that the cards would get sent early in the week to ensure its received before my son's birthday which is tomorrow. Still hasnt arrived. It's not a big deal because he doesn't know about it but I thought I'd surprise him with it and it's just the fact they can't seem to get things right. I know it's a busy time of year etc and Australia Post is horrible these days but really if it was sent by Tuesday it should've come by Friday at the latest. I'm not gonna slam the club/membership dept as it's not that big a deal to me but it's just another example and if it happens to someone else who is not as rusted on it could be another dissatisfier that sees them decide to not renew.
  25. She probably just got back from Xmas break.
