  1. Gone but never forgotten... I had the pleasure of hearing Jimmy speak at one of the Reach events that I attended as a corporate volunteer. He has left an amazing legacy to youth work and this program is absolutely inspiring to any of the youth fortunate enough to participate. A great man who has left a sadness in all our hearts now but will always be remember dearly. RIP Jimmy.
  2. Sure thing. Go along with my little guys in their full demons outfit and they love it. Will post a report (hopefully I can concentrate on speeches for you!
  3. Doesn't matter what his dad does. He will get a job with phat phil anyways!
  4. Yeah. Not meaning to be pedantic but scully has nothing to do with clark. Clark was for pick 12 in 2011 draft. So if stars were to align it would be two compo picks for gaff (or gaff for scully) and Viney for first round f/s pick in 2012.
  5. Agree. You would back him far above all others on a set shot prior to watts and jurrah arriving. He used to only require a limited number of opps to convert and he would do it. Woyld love to see him get that laser left boot back in action with set shots for goal.
  6. Anyone attend? Hanging out for more training reports
  7. Thanks Satyricon. So it is really only Tappy and Jord that it is not so clear when they will commence. Other than that (and of course big Maxy) we are looking in pretty good shape for a full list to select from for round 1.
  8. Guys, Great training reports. In relation to injuries, we hear who is in the rehab group. Would be great if anyone can update us to how many weeks it will take for them to get back to full fitness. Can anyone upfate us as to how long it will be until each rehab group member is back to full fitness? Thanks in advance.
  9. I've entered demonland tragics as demonskis - thanks MrReims.
  10. Assume training was on today? Any reports for us from anyone who attended - this is such a valuable service for us footy starved Demons who can't get to the open trainings
  11. Just on demonoid's point. Was at new balance factory outlet in cheltenham. They have a massive area just devoted to dees gear. The guy told me they had boxes out the back. Got a tonne of hugely discounted gear for myself and the kids - jumpers, training ts, singlets, shorts, everything. The shop guy thought the club sent it back cause colours not right. I cannot for the life of me see the colour issue. So either it is a tiny, almost undetectable flaw or something else is afoot. Anyway, good gear at dirt cheap prices and all sizes for babies through to the big men for those interested.
  12. According to recent tweet from Clark at herald sun "Gut feel is dees race down to youngsters Trengove and Grimes. Green's days as skipper prob over. Frawley a smokey. Either way new era." Bring it on I say!
  13. Without doubt, Liam Jurrah. Clearly it takes all types and styles to have a successful team and that is what we all want. I know a lot of you guys might like to watch the workhorse V8s on the track, but for me I prefer the F1 Ferrari! Players like Liam are why our game is so magnificent.
  14. I saw most of training as well - a bit late. The guys above summed it up pretty well. Perhaps lighter on the running side than previous training (from reports I have seen anyway). I was really impressed with both Bennell and Howe in the skills drills - watch for JB to make big strides this year. I had previously heard knocks on Jurrah's work rate and running. Well I thought he was really committed and was working at a good pace the whole session while most others were working on their skills. Perhaps he is now finally developing the fitness base and it has been a gradual build up from the fitness staff and maybe we should trust them a bit more that they actually know what they are doing? I was watching the mid drills closely when they split into groups. Geesh we look small when Moloney, Bate + Sylvia are not there in those exercises. When the groups worked together, I was actually quite pleased with our skill level. I watched a session at the same time last year and thought we were a long way off the pace then. The guys who missed targets more than once were probably more from the first year players which I would expect. Watts' skills are sublime. Others to catch my eye were Howe, Bennell and Trengove. Jonesy (while missing one kick that I can see) is a consumate professional, always encouraging and advising the others. He is really leading the way with the midfielders - good to see. New guys hard for me to work out. Saw Couch with midfielders and he really can work a clearance (although he has a really weird running style!). Sellar looked confused at times as to where to run as a backman with one of the drills but i thought his skills were servicable for a big guy overall. I also thought Fitzy has improved a long way from his kicking skills (although he still looks slightly ungainly). I liked the drills, short, sharp lots of coaching involvement. saw Wattsy having an in depth chat with Neil Craig post training. Hopefully, the old guru can provide his wisdom!
  15. We still need a quality mid or two. Clearly the weakest area of our current structure and I can't see us progressing too much further in 2012 as a result. However adding viney next year and two first rounders (maybe one or both as an experienced mid) and all of a sudden all of the pieces of the puzzle finally come together..
  16. Intersting we are only paying 92.5 of cap. Next year's draft with viney + two comp picks may mean we actually look at comp picks to trade for an elite midfielder rather than draft as we can afford salary level.
  17. How do you know we haven't 'propositioned' in advance anyway. Apparantly we have been active in commencing talks with players/managers that we like and we think are feasible, according to Harrington. Some things advance, some don't. Why not have a go at walsh, as someone earlier said misson would have a pretty good understading of where he is at...
  18. My twitter feeds from thesport journos telling me that afl has knocked this gws nonsense on the head. Looks like grubby and his dodgy plans finally getting short shrift from their bankers at the afl.
  19. So if we think it will take the two $cully first rounders to get o'meara, whAt would it take to get crouch? I think he tested well this week inc a good sprint time and is rated highly as well (with no risk of 'go home' like o'meara).
  20. Bugger missed it. Ayone want to give an update?
  21. Yeah would have loved a camera on joffa. But the camera on eddie mcchins was priceless. About 20 of us watching at a mates and all went up as one cheering when that happened....pure gold.
  22. Ps: FWIW as a member (and from my perspective as a club stakeholder) I think matt is doing a great job managing different club stakeholders and managing the communications program. Great appointment by the club since he joined I think a year or two ago.
  23. The op bagging Matt is clearly knifing him as he wants his job. Problem is op has no idea what Matt's job is. Matt is the club's pr. He is no an independent journo. His job is to communicate the positives about the club and manage the negatives/issues. He is not an independent journo that is going to ask the hard hitting and probing questions. No OP you cannot have matt's job. He is far better at it than you.
  24. What would we have to give up though? I am not a fan of trading until we get closer to working out gaps to take us to next level. Still a few years away. All about roi...
  25. Agree. Perhaps dees can create our own version of a :aka pre game? That would pump them up surely..
