Agree your gawn. If we could get all those options (moneyball approach) plus high draft pick we are looking good. But don't you think other clubs will competing for these options as well? We might get one or two but highly doubt we woyld get them all. Worth a try but...

He is well worth 13 in my view (especially as it allows us viney in round 2). Good point re an onfield midfield leader. I think jonesy would be just as good as boak in that respect. Grimes and trenners another year under the belt. I reckon we are ok but would be ok if we decided on an older free agent for a couple of years eg: a chappy to bring some outside expereince froma successful club into the mix.

I like getting caDdy with 13. Throw in pettard as well if they want him (a gc boy who we will likely delist anyway). And get gc to agrEe not to nominate viney with pick 2. Gws tanking to get whitfield at 1 anyway. Happy with 3, 4, caddy and viney.

Wow my head hurts guys... I think gws will beat gc easily and gc will finish last. If that is the case, we do have option of a 'handshake' deal with gws and say if you don't touch viney we will trade pick 4 for martin in u17 deal. So gc 1, gws 2, melb 3 + melb 4 (martin) + jv second round. Or as someone else said earlier we deny the handshake deal existed and keep pick 4!

Why the hell would we trade 4 and 12 for boak + 7? We could offer 12 alone and cats could not match that pick for port. In addition we can up geelong's salary offer easily. Win for boak and port.

either way, I'm not that fussed if we finish last, second or third last. either way it has been a season from hell and wont make much difference. Whitfield, Grundy, Stringer/Kennedy and Viney sounds ok to me as a compensation for the spoon.

Problem is that regardless of doing any deal with gws for u17 and not touching viney, is that we still need to come up with an arrangement with gc. How about we trade pick 3 to gws for u17 pick and pick 13 to gc for caddy. Gc and gws don't nominate viney. So assuming puck 1 and 2 are gws whitfield and grundy and gc get martin, we get: - hogan or crouch u17 - our choice of toumpas or wines or mayes at 4 - caddy at 13 - viney second round

Um, am I allowed to have an alternative perspective? I was pleased with our efforts today and think that we have slowly improved over the year. Seriously undermanned with two on the bench and a number of key player injured. Don't forget freo were playing for a finals spot and had a lot to lose today. Mind you I am watching from byron bay after a week away and so feeling mighty chilled!
