I think 2 years is fair especially as our only veteran for 2012. Does anyone else qualify as veteran eg davey or jamar for 2013? Would be good to free up another senior list spot if that is the case.

Even on a thread about the new coach, someone somehow finds an oppotunity to take a pot shot at cale morton. Give the guy a break, get behind him and he might surprise you in 2012. At least don't weave every post into a backstab cale opportunity.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
mdemonski2 replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks JRiv. Reports and updates during the game would be brilliant. Cant wait to hear how jack plays today. -
The timing as to when we use our compo picks could be really interesting for the reason you outline above. I would think that we will use our compo pick post our first round pick definitely next year (or even this year as part of a 17 y o trade)as it will most likely be most valuable in 2012 when we arr still working our way up the ladder. The other pick does not matter where we finish as it is post non finalist first round picks. I wonder whether we might keep this second pick up our sleeve and use it a few years down the track to trade for a top ready made player when the real gaps in our list become apparant and we start to push towarfs the higher echelons of the ladder. It could be really valuable at this stage to a club just embarking on a re-build. What u reckon?

His potential to be a star is largely due to his well known work ethic and be able to continually provide 'bursts' of speed. If this degenerative condition restricts his speed plus pre season loads, surley this is a massive concern. Will be interesting to see how it spans out. Hope for GWS not well and that we have dodged a massive bullet...

Good suggestion. At least all parties have given something to get something. Problem is that gc could blow deal out of the water if they really want omeara. However if dees and wc gives up a decent player (esp wc) it might get done as gc has better picks but maybe not the players (big bodies) to trade.

+1. Spot on - the guys is a damn good liar clearly. So who knows how much of his injury this year was real? I am not so sure. And secondly... How do you keep kids interested in AFL or any professional sport for that matter when they see these shenanigans going on? What example does it set in life and do you really think AFL will not suffer from a longer term bleed as kids grow up and get disillusioned with the sport they love? From my perspective, it gets harder each year to keep the enthusiasm up when you keep getting kicked in the teeth. So I would imagine when you are impressionable and not as 'rusted on' it would be even harder. Some real longer term issues I believe. I know other sports it is even more extreme but I don't like where then game is heading and I can see why some people prefer going to watch their amateur teams play. It gets harder to invest the money, time and most importantly enthusiam, even when you are a rusted on old man supporter like me....

See you judas. Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. You are a first class liar and if moloney doesn't iron you out when you play dees at mcg next year, maybe the sniper rifle will (kidding about sniper but not beamer!!).
-
Motlop. One thing. You've just been tapscotted...
-
Scores level. 84 each.
-
What has howe done to the umpire? Snaked his wife, kicked his dog or what? Three clear marks disallowed. Dees back to two goals after a great kick from morton to trenners and goals. Thee q time. 84 to 72.
-
U r joking. Howe took a screamer and not paid. Even commentators can't believe it. Bennell injured and off ground but no sub available as tapscott (sub) and on ground. Port just got a goal and one goal up.
-
Motlop just had it so long, he almost hatched it. Still no free kick but...ridiculous.
-
No leg thank god. Looks like knock to head/concussion.
-
I will shut up now morton shanks that one for goal!
-
None of the Morton baggers will be happy. He had a damn good first quarter. Let's see how he goes for the next three...

I went last year and year before with brother and a few mates. It is a big bit of coin but I would definitely recommend. It is a great night. Really well produced and excellent entrtainment with the b anf countdown, guest speakers etc. Players are all relaxed and enjoying themselves with the supporters as well. Can't go this year as interstate for a wEek for work. But will be back in 2012!

Thanks Ox. My bad. I thought it was foxtel only. Maybe my father's day present can be a dees win over a beer in the comfort of lounge room (and hopefully sing song with kids at the end of the game). Is that too much to ask for?
-
Game on Foxtel only. Where is everyone watching game today? PS preferably bayside/south east..
-
Same injury that a bloke called Judas had back in AFL season 1 AD.
-
Correct. GWS can only take one uncontracted player per club over the two year window.

MFC Memberships - how many lost to MCC ?

Totally agree. Clearly many on here are far more experienced on a keyboard than on a footy field. Our delivery skills would be a nightmare for any forward. 40 g under these circumstances is a good effort. Not many can make something out of nothing like liam can. As someone else mentioned, I wish we had a neitz type playing alongside him...
-
Totally agree. If we are going to trade, why wouldn't we trade for list gaps to build towards a flag. With fev it would be for a one (two max) bandaid solution..
