  1. Mate. Totally fair rant. I agree with your summation of all players above. The only thing I am unsure of is bringing tappy straight back. I would give him a week at casey with reduced game time - we don't want him to ping a hammy againt tiges. Bennell stays to take small forward instead of bartram. So two changes with gys and jamar in and bartram/gawn out. Anyone think they might debur blease this week - he is putting in some good games with casey apparantly.
  2. Don't think bartram and jmc were in the same stratosphere in relation to errors against the shockers. Bartram was cringeworthy - most times he got the ball my head was in my hands hoping he would not turnover yet again. Jmac was actually quite clean with his disposal. For me Bennell takes Nahas, has the speed to go with him and his skills just better than clint b. Blease to debut. Ins: jamar, blease Outs: gawn, bartram Tappy back through casey first.
  3. Spot on. All I could hear was extra loud applause and cheering when he came off the ground. Dees supporter did not boo him. Load of karp from the previous poster...
  4. I find it bizzaire that anyone would suggest to drop jetta after last week. I think we have been selecting well and playing on form and not reputation or seniority. Why wouldn't this continue?
  5. Don't count on fev playing afl for anyone next year. Saw him at beach rd v sandy and (while he has def lost a few kilos) he has lost a yard of pace and hardly got near it. The game can pass you by so quickly and his time out of the game means he will probably never get back to his best. Especially now that all forwards need to apply forward pressure - it is just not in fev's nature.
  6. Hey All, Went down to beach rd oval to watch game. Love the reports for others for a VFL game, so thought I would return the favour. Bear with me though as it is a) my first report and B) I had my two little guys with me today (2 and 4) so I probably missed a bit. Anyway, here is my summation of the Melbourne players. Cook - wow. First time I have had a good look at him and I was super impressed. He seems like he has put on a tiny bit of size since earlier in the year but what I loved was his use of the ball. Exceptional. Not overly quick at all but has such great awareness he does not need to be. He set up number of goals with some exceptional foot skills on both sides of the body, even though it was blowing an absolute gale! Moves so smoothly. He will be a player and worth the wait. I would like to know his stats today as he never seems to waste a possession and he does not need as much of it as some of his teammates to impact a game as a result. Blease - you know I did not notice him that much and was surprised his numbers were so high. Had a few errant kicks but he provides great run and carry from defence and really links well with his teammates. Tackling was solid and he certainly got involved with some strong work at stoppages. Campbell - took me a while to work out who the big Scorps ruckman was actually. Competed well but obviously a bit underdone. Not an easy game for the big blokes with the wind I guess. Pettard - did some really smart things and could have kicked more goals if it was not such a windy day. Worked really hard and worked up the ground. Locked it in the forward line as well. McDonald - big strong young guy. I really like him - pretty skilled for a big bloke. Links well, defends well. May get a run sooner rather than later. Bate - too good at this level. worked hard and provided a target (played deepwith fev most of the game). Good game with a few goals. Also a cult figure for my little guys who screamed out 'baber' non-stop for a few minutes before losing complete interest in the game. Maybe they thought he was ronald mcdonald - I dunno but he has won a few fans at our house and we have talked about him since getting home as well! Warnock - gee he was good in the second half. A number of spoils when sandy looked like getting into scoring range. reads the play and rebounds well. Good game. Dunn - hardly saw him. Doesn't work hard enough to get into the game. I think he will disappointed with that. Maric - did a few clever centering kicks to give his teamates an opportunity when going forward. Also played behind a number of times when he was played deep forward and got outmarked - a quiet game. On form on today only (and diregarding matchups and previous Casey form), I think Blease, McDonald, Cook and Warnock would be most likely to earn a call up.
  7. Totally agree mate. I was also in the members. It was a proud moment and there was an awesome noise supporting the lads. It was also a bit of screw you Essendung, you all thought you were gunna whip us and you sure don't like the shoe on the other foot. I loved it. Why not celebrate?
  8. For all my fellow dees os or interstate, was a great atmosphere at the game. Dees supporters were loud, proud and (at the end) kinda arrogant. I loved it. Very young but very talented side. We will have some more yo yo performances, no doubt. But there is a bit of steel with these young guys to match the talent. And our supporters have a bit of spring in their step. If we can keep improving, keep mving forward, who knows where this group will ultimately take us. But for now, yessssssssss u beauty.
  9. Mckenzie in for bartram. Other than that, wow I would be lovin that lineup.
  10. So from those in a better position than I to judge, it seems Gawn not yet ready. But does that mean we have to play juice again as a backup ruckman? God help us. Is there any other option do you think?
  11. I love aaron and how he has worked so hard from a rookie toa gun mfc player. My four year olds fave player is aaron. But I was embarrassed for him today. He is having a shocking season. Even with all our injuries he may need a few weeks at casey.farck it is locking bleak. Most of the lads tried hard but we are a long way off the pace and let's face it the saints are tres ordaniare this year. With our injuries, we will struggle ti win a handful more gsmes this year.
  12. No thanks. Morton has some deficiencies in his game. That's why he is working on this at vfl level. I wouldn't want to invest this time in him to see another club capitalise eg gws. If he were to go ( I would be v unhappy) what pick would we get if he is out of contract do you think?
  13. As I said, get back to me. Unlike you, I don't suffer from your prematurity affliction.
  14. I'd like to pass judgement on anderson. Incompetent, hopelessly out of touch with afl fans and a total dipstick. And if the Afl administration had any accountability whatsoever, he would have been the one suspended - for good.
  15. Bennell will be a very good player. Please bookmark my call and feel free to bag me in a few years if I'm wrong. He can have moments of sheer class. Yes they are few and far between at the moment but younger players are clearly more inconsistent. He probably has as big an upside as any of our youngsters and I for one, feel more excited about this guy than most. He'll be good, very good.
  16. Blame Trengove. He must be held responsible for the ground's actions in injuring Dangerfield.
  17. Guys, I read this today in the newspaper....we really do have some influential supporters. Congrats to Mr Andrew. Sounds like he was a pretty darn good sportsman as well as a gun businessman. Surely KPMG would be a great sponsorship fit for the club ;-) Last night KPMG’s Asia-Pacific chairman Michael Andrew was appointed to the position of global head of the financial services group...... Mr Andrew grew up in Victoria and attended Melbourne High School. He was ranked as a junior tennis player along with Paul McNamee and Peter McNamara. Mr Andrew has been treasurer of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and supports the Melbourne Demons in the Australian Football League. He commenced his career as a lawyer and accountant at ICI (now Orica). He joined Peat Marwick’s tax practice in 1984, becoming a partner in 1988. He worked on the Peat Marwick and KMG merger. Mr Andrew said that the rise of China is behind an influx of Australian executives moving to the top ranks of multinational companies.
  18. Martin Boulton article on the Trengove appeal in today's Age has a final quote from Scott backing the verdict. No vested interest at all of course. Must be running scared that Trenners will carve them up. Hopefully this fires boys up even more - norf really have this sense that they own us and will beat us any place, any where, any time. Screw that, unleash hell lads.
  19. Except when the afl is the one doing the talking! Really there is no diFference between the afl and the third reich!!
  20. Agree. Can't run risk of brining too many talls in so martin/rivers not answer to replace grimes. I liked our structure with lots of runners on the weekend. Also I think warnock deserves to stay for mine...
  21. Absolutely smashed a few crows today with some MASSIVE tackles. Just awesome..
  22. I just think we have gone down a certain path...that is build through youth and draft picks and get rid of dead wood, that there is no point changing paths after poor early season form. Hold tight Clay. A few older harder bods aint going to help us if we have stuffed up our overall direction. If we get closer to top four with the core of youngsters we have once they mature then maybe we bolster our list. If we don't have the core out of our younger group now ie under 22s we are farked for a long, long time....
  23. Based on that logic, let's trade bruce and miller back from their respective clubs and bring junior back out of retirement.
  24. A bit harsh. Tell me would you rather be a forward in a team with at least twice as many inside 50s and accurate passing from guys up the ground (cue darling) or the odd rare and slow I50 with woeful disposal from up the ground (cue watts). I'm not a smart man but I reckon I would prefer the former. Can't you take the anti-watts blinkers off and see one of the few positives from the game. Oh yeah. And the other positive besides watts...more early draft picks at the end of the year. Oh bugger, that's right, gws falafells get them all...
  25. Last night eagles players 'rubbing our noses in it'. What I mean is that they would tackle or bump or make a play and then. Get in our faces either verbally or with some choice words. Looks to me like they were agressively pointing out we don't have the stomach for a scrap or to do the hard things. What do others think?
