  1. Some of us need to get over ourselves. We need draft assistance. I'm not embarrassed that we've asked for assistance, I'm embarrassed by our performance yesterday, which underlined just how bad a shape our list is in.
  2. A bloke called Daniel Cross was, I'd argue, more important than Jones today. Unfortunately, there were about two others that I cared for. Tyson and Vince. Michie did some good, but other than that...?
  3. Patton would be off my list now. Poor bugger. Two knee recos. Would still love Shiel and Treloar though. Can't see any bloke wanting to play for us though.
  4. I attended both 186 and 147 in 2011 and 2013. But third to those performances, this was bloody hopeless. Absolutely no pride.
  5. It makes a little bit of sense. We need another ruckman, but also a KPF that can ruck. That'll leave Dawes and Hogan to play true KPF.
  6. Barry has always appeared to me to be an aerobic athlete, as apposed to an anaerobic athlete. That is to say, he's got a decent tank, but lacks that burst of speed that many smaller players tend to have. As for Michie, I think we've built up a few nice inside midfielders. We actually have a little bit of depth there, if blokes like Michie continue to improve. It's been said countless times, but where we need reinforcements is on the outside.
  7. I agree. 4 disposals is ordinary, but we barely had space in there and IMO our delivery was pretty ordinary going in there. Most of the time, he was chasing Hawthorn defenders off half back. I dunno, maybe I'm making excuses? I just don't subscribe to the opinion that he didn't want to be out there.
  8. Disagree. He looked lost to me, but if he was near an opponent, he would put up a good chase. I think the way Hawthorn moved the ball yesterday was an absolute lesson for our players. I hope our FD point out how we were dissected time and again. Move the bloody ball quicker. Anyway, JKH had no influence, but the ball wasn't in our forwardline and he doesn't have the tank yet for the midfield. This means, he'll struggle to impact any game, unless we're getting inside 50s. When we do, his clean hands, good decision making and ability to keep his feet are an absolute asset.
  9. Michie shows poise and smarts with ball in hand. As I said in another thread, he gets to the right spots, his disposal is neat and he can lay a solid tackle. Really liked his game. Baby steps, but positive nevertheless.
  10. I thought Barry read that play really well, which gave him a slight break on Hill. Nice bit of play though.
  11. I agree to an extent. Our disposal needs to improve across the ground and this will allow us to take more risks and move the ball quickly. That's where you get uncontested possessions and this is an area that they dominated us in. It is the true indicator of the side who is generally on top. I'd argue that our midfield's inability to lock Hawthorn down and get back into defensive areas, due to their superior skill level and therefore ball movement, resulted in many of Hawthorn's goals. The defence could do very little with the ball streaming forward so quickly and placed to the advantage of the forward continuously.
  12. I don't know about that, but his contract size will certainly work in our favour, not against us. We hold the cards here.
  13. Well, that's nice. Maybe you should remind your Sydney mates that he isn't getting a game with them. He's not therefore worth a first rounder. Ridiculous.
  14. I'd still be offering a third rounder. He's not playing AFL, so I think that lowers his trade value, despite the all star team he's trying to break into.
  15. Rohan's (maybe) worth a third rounder. I wouldn't throw anything lower at him.
  16. I think he needs to improve his marking on the lead. He needs to be stronger, but otherwise, I'd agree with the above, RM.
  17. I'm going to continue gushing here, because, hey, we have to look for the positives. One other thing I really liked about Jetta's game today was that when he made that poor skill error and kicked it on the full, he looked filthy on himself. Okay. Many an MFC player looks filthy on themselves when they make an error. I'd hope to see that, so that's merely a start. It's how he proceeded to play after this error that impressed me so much. He didn't go into his shell, he didn't drop his head. He stayed focus and the next time he was near the ball, he crunched an opposition player with a thunderous tackle. It was really pleasing to see him lay another two or three crunching tackles after this moment too. I think this example really bodes well for his future. He appears to be a bloke that continually demands more of himself. It's terrific. He's found his position now. He has such great balance and strength in the hips. Oh and I really enjoyed that interception in front of Roughead later on in the game. He read it quickly and moved with a blistering burst of speed to get back into the area. His name should be one of the first on the team sheet every week, if he keeps this form up. Well done, Nev. You've really turned your career around. A little credit should probably go to Roosy too, for his faith earlier in the season.
  18. Disagree. Watts' tackling has improved, just not enough, but don't rob him of some marked improvement. He needs to win more one on ones though. I counted one that he won today. There may have been more, but a couple of weak tackling efforts and a failure to keep his feet cost us goals.
  19. He showed quick hands, some good awareness, got to the right spots and his disposal was neat. Definite tick for me this week. Let's hope he can follow it up again next week.
  20. Neither are good enough, but at least Grimes can occasionally read the play. Evans is a half decent runner. I don't see much else in him. I'd be moving them both on once their contracts are up.
  21. Yeah, but not every player can be or needs to be a game changer or hardball earner. He needs to keep his feet and attack contests with more ferocity, I agree, but you need to realise that he's not who you want him to be. He's not a hulking key position forward. He's a highly skilled, good reader of the play. That's all, but it doesn't mean he's for the scrap heap. His skills alone will ensure he stays on the list.
  22. No he wouldn't. He's been terrific since coming in, but he hasn't played enough games this season. Fast becoming one of my favourites though.
  23. I thought Nathan Jones was pretty ordinary today, despite a good first half and a high possession count.
  24. And Nev Jetta was outstanding. Easily the best defender on the ground and comfortably in the top 5 players on the ground too.
