  1. I'd do that deal, M. I'm not sure Adelaide would though.
  2. Dangerfield this year and come back for Prestia the following year.
  3. Demonlanders are getting too precious about these top picks. It's one of the reasons I never got attached to any of this year's U18's crop. I thought there was a good chance we'd be trading whatever top picks we received. I would if I was on the MFC recruiting team and I have an idea Roos would too.
  4. And unless Trengove is somehow involved in the trade, he should be injured less.
  5. It's dreaming, but if we could somehow convince Shiel to join on an overinflated long term contract for a trade of pick 10 received in an Adelaide trade, we'd be laughing. And we'd have a midfield all of a sudden.
  6. Yeah, Dangerfield for picks 2 & 3 worries me. Dangerfield and pick 10 for picks 2 & 3 doesn't. We get a chance to bring in two guys, for two picks, one of them is a game breaking A grader, the likes we haven't seen since Lyon or even Flower.
  7. Any luck, Chook? The potentiality of this news got me through the night, after another insipid display from my other football team Liverpool.
  8. I think Demonland has jumped on this and run with it. We've still heard nothing from Mitch.
  9. You would have been one of those people saying Roos had said definitively he wasn't coming to Melbourne, where the truth was he'd never said such a thing. Journalists can imply whatever they want. I was quoted in an industry publication recently and my words were completely taken out of context and used to build an entirely separate argument. You can manipulate words in almost any manner. Therefore, you need clear cut quotes.
  10. Gee, there's a culture problem down at Hawthorn.
  11. As long as there aren't too many messages there. It's essentially a three year contract. I'm not worried, but I'm sure there's a contingency in place. PJ seems like a sharp, professional operator.
  12. Yeah, Moggs is a lovely place. Point Roadnight's better though.
  13. I didn't see the interview, but you could pretty easily quash these rumours by stating categorically that you're not going anywhere. By the sound of things, he didn't, which says to me the door is still very much open.
  14. It depends what the rumour is. You can't blame MFC supporters for wanting to believe Dangerfield toured our facilities. :D
  15. Sewell, for mine, is still a better option than McKenzie. Although, ideally it'd be good to not need either. Sewell would still be ahead of quite a few of our guys, IMO. Unless we experience some drastically improved list changes.
  16. Yeah, I'm not sure we need to offer the world here. I think pick 2 or 3 could get the deal done. It's either that for Adelaide or a mid first round compensation pick next year when he leaves as a FA or whoever finishes bottom next year giving up pick 1. If I was Adelaide, I'd certainly consider it.
  17. From a supporter point of view (ie biased), of course we get frustrated by players not willing to show loyalty. But we can't forget the on-field rabble we still are. I am hopeful we'll take further steps next year (7 to 8 wins hopefully), but losing gets tiring and wears one down. Just ask our supporter base, which has been whittled down over the years. When our on-field team shows signs of life, we might be able to attract suitable FA's and marquee players, but for the moment our entire cred is founded on the off-field team of PJ/Roos/Viney and arguably Mahoney. It's this source that I hope provides a surprise or two this trade week.
  18. I think we need to pick the best players. I don't care if they are in the draft or from another club. We need to lose the pretension and just develop an AFL standard list, however that comes about.
  19. But it may only be a case of a differential of $100-$200k. In which case, Dangerfield may well sign with a club (with a deemed brighter future) for slightly less than what we're offering.
  20. I see where you're going here, Roost, but I don't think we should underestimate the distabalising effect of getting rid of your heart & soul player and captain (again). Junior Mac should have taught us that and even Barassi's defection. I don't think there'd be much gained here and if anything it could send us backwards. I'm not saying Jones is a better player than Dangerfield necessarily, but it's too fraught with risk. For the record, IMO, Jones is more consistent, but Dangerfield is a game breaker.
  21. Absolutely. That is the main stumbling block to this dream, IMO. Still, if Crouch was offered over a mill a season, his brother may say, take it.
