  1. Has turned into a better player than Wrecker I reckon.
  2. The mechanism is a first round pick, which despite the speculation on here and in the media, we can in fact trade at the end of this year. As long as we keep bringing in good young kids, I'm okay with us being strategic with our first round picks.
  3. I don't necessarily disagree with everything you've said here, PD, but did you see his first two kicks to forwards yesterday? Only Watts and Petracca are capable of those bullet passes in our current team. His interrupted pre-season has certainly played havoc with his form, as he has been a little bit up and down this year, but in a couple of games this year (in an incredibly ordinary team), he's been one of the standouts.
  4. Yep, good post, Steve. The way I see it Oliver is a Mitchell clone with the ability to make the right decision under extreme heat. But I actually think Wagner has great poise and decision making for a first year player and will only improve. Jetta is decent in this area as well. It's our talls in the McDonald's and Frost that lack it. The worrying thing for me is that Tom McDonald doesn't so much lack composure but is just a very poor decision maker under pressure. This kills us and he mist improve in this area.
  5. Imagine the booing if all that transpired. Hurley marks. Boooooo. Chips it over the top to Melksham who breaks the line. Boooooo. Handballs it over to Hibberd. Boooooo. :D
  6. Exactly. The creation of GCS and GWS and their excessive access to talent has robbed the rest of the competition. Except, we were down when they were and have managed to build from the draft too. But everyone else? Not so much. I think a bunch of teams are going to fall off a cliff in the next 1-3 years. North, Hawthorn, Carlton, Essendon and Richmond at least. While the QLD teams are in dire strife over the next 3 years. And who knows about Collingwood.
  7. He'd be leaving because he's [censored] off at the club, so that should cancel any allegiance to them out.
  8. Would be great to be hated by Essendon even more. Love it.
  9. No we wouldn't. We need more midfield depth, experience and class.
  10. Whilst I agree with a lot of this, but I'm still convinced that the other important element of Roos' plan was stockpiling draft picks and improving the list from the draft. It doesn't take two years to build defence and contested ball numbers. You can do that across a single season, but we didn't want to win too many and blow our draft position. We kept it respectable (as much as we could with a VFL-like list) and keystones as such defence and contested footy was focused on. FWIW, this is precisely the correct approach for the football club and we've built brilliantly through the draft and if we continue to do so (outside talent and skill being an important attribute we don't have enough of), I've no doubt we'll have sustained success.
  11. You go after players that can win their own ball and Crouch certainly can. FWIW, if it came down to decision between Crouch or Prestia I'd take the latter, but I certainly wouldn't scoff at Crouch.
  12. Before he even kicked it I knew Omac would drop it and it'd result in a momentum changing goal. We were holding on at that stage and had just kicked one or two. That effectively killed the game.
  13. Those who aren't interested in Prestia, would you say no to Viney as well? Both are leaders too. Prestia being the VC of the Suns...
  14. Disagree that Tyson will never be in the leadership group. When discussing whether Viney could be the next captain the other day, Roos mentioned Tyson in the captain conversation.
  15. I had to get straight to the airport to fly out and it took me half an hour to hail a cab in the pouring rain. Had I been up there solely for the footy, I would have been very disappointed with the scoreboard, but as I was up there for the Film Festival, I only had to buy my ticket to the game and everything else was paid for. Even a cabcharge! Didn't get a boat ride though.
  16. I agree with this, mate and with Jaded's post too, but it is frustrating to see him play for free kicks and at times fail to even provide a chase if the ball is spoiled or spilled. This happened a couple of times right in front of us on Sunday and it's not a good look. But it's funny. I feel like he still hasn't had that break out game yet and reckon he might this year. He has the potential to kick 10+, it's really only a matter of time. But first he has to work on his attitude, his defensive work rate and keep things simple with his kicking action.
  17. Are you seriously comparing Jack to Dom, mate? Dom knows how to find a lot of footy at this level and is a goal kicking mid. He just needs to find consistency like Trenners, but his ceiling is a lot higher. You can only teach someone so much and Dom can be a ball magnet. Trenners' career high disposals is 29, which he managed once against the Gold Coast 2011. Dom has reached 30+ 8 times.
  18. Well, the Sydney leaders were certainly their best players. McVeigh was outstanding.
  19. When our talls fail to take marks (and the conditions didn't suit them today obviously), we fall down badly. We're not clean enough in the midfield and we don't know when to go between wet weather and dry footy. Tom McDonald's kick across goal to his brother had turn over written all over it. Don't take the risk! Kick it down the line. We also over handballed when we should have simply gone long and got the ball moving forward. Petracca is going to be a superstar. He'll [censored] all over Stringer soon. Dangerfield like at his age. He is so clean and a very smart footballer. Very glad he's ours. Hunt was also terrific today and I thought early, the defenders did a pretty good job considering the conditions. But, it's the second time in recent memory that we haven't been able to handle the conditions and it's effectively cost us the game. Harmes in for Kennedy next week and hope that the deck chair shuffle works.
  20. They are the cleaner team to this point. I don't hold much hope for the second half. It feels like we're hanging on. At least it's not cold. The cleaner team will win.
  21. He's also assuming they haven't been signed already. The club is historically pretty strategic with its announcements. Let's wait and see.
