  1. As long as our 1's don't play like this on Monday...
  2. Grimes isn't good enough for any of the positions, but he'll play a couple of games towards the end of the season.
  3. Matt Jones turns into traffic instead of going to a spare man in the corridor, is tackled and holding the ball. Urgh. Where's this depth we've been talking about?
  4. Spencer has been the only impressive MFC-listed player so far.
  5. We're talking cross purpose again. I took umbrage with Abbey's comments that the current Prime Minister practically invented the internet. I was scoffing at those comments.
  6. Let me retract my original comment and say that it wouldn't be done everywhere by now, but I'd have it in my area. And we can categorically say that it would be cheaper, because in the short to mid term this inferior system will have to be replaced and another costly exercise undertaken, instead of doing it properly the first time. Also, I was referencing Tone Abbey with my quote "the man who invented the internet in this country". Still not sure who you're talking about.
  7. That could well be the case CJ, but that means waiting a year and not fixing this defence everyone seems so keen on tending to. How about instead we fill as many needs as we can at once and allow the defence to continue to develop?
  8. And who is the so called expert you're referring to? There are a couple mentioned in that video. Consumer Group Choice is one of them. They're considered clowns are they? And are you saying they're all wrong? There's no issue here? Righto. It's all Labor's fault and we shouldn't have to pay for it. We should privatise it, because that's worked so well for Telstra. I love receiving calls from India at 6pm at night.
  9. Well that's not what independent experts are saying right now. Take a look at these clowns. "The man who invented the internet in this country...". Are you serious? http://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/the-project/extra/season-7/who-to-blame-for-the-nbn
  10. That's absolute rubbish. Get with the program jnr. Having fast internet allows our businesses to compete and as the world is built around the internet (from the home, to the school, to every bloody business), Australia needs faster internet in order to compete and function properly. It's okay, we'll pull you into the 21st Century eventually. The internet is a service every individual uses (aside from some very, very remote communities). So everyone's taxes should go to pay for it. If the Liberals hadn't stuffed it up with NBN lite, it would have been implemented properly by now for the projected $40 billion. Instead, we're left with an inferior short term copper solution - that has now ended up costing more than the original $40 billion independent projection of Labor's NBN system - that will need to be replaced - there's billions and billions of dollars gone again. It's a disgrace. The Liberals have cost us literally billions and billions of dollars. As Choke says, this should be seen as country's biggest blunder in the 21st Century (aside of course from this government's asylum seeker policies leading to the UN's listing of these policies as a violation of the Convention Against Torture). And what's more bewildering is that anyone with half a brain could see this coming 2.5 years ago.
  11. This sort of argument for not going after someone is getting tiresome. You can address multiple priorities at once. Only Salem's disposal can compete with Hibberd's, but the latter can kick it much further. It's a weapon, particularly with the zoning in modern footy. We can get Hibberd AND an A grade mid in Prestia. Not to mention Hibberd would then release Salem further up the field. Also, if Hurley re-signs with Essendon, who is the KPB option we're going after?
  12. Not quite true. Murdoch's plan was to use his News Corp arm to ensure the Liberals got in at the last election, so that the then Communications Minister (now the Prime Minister) would prevent the rest of the NBN implementation and instead roll out an NBN lite (the copper wire equivalent). Despite the argument by the self-described 'fiscally responsible adults' that the original NBN would cost upward of $40 billion, the Liberals greenlit an apparently cheaper version. This has now ended up costing the tax payer close to $50 billion and counting. What's worse is that Australia has to wait until the dated copper system needs to be replaced (in a decade or so) and then fork out the billions again to update the infrastructure that they've only just installed. So not only has NBN lite hampered business practices for small businesses (like mine and many others), it means that we continue to fall behind the rest of the world in basic internet delivery for individuals. All so Rupert Murdoch could keep the wolves from his door for another decade. And it quite possibly means that the AFL won't sell the rights to their game to a streaming service for at least a little while longer. As I mentioned somewhere else earlier, I'd say this is part of the reason why a dedicated sports streaming service is yet to bob up in Australia. The market isn't strong enough yet and people are basically waiting for streaming to take over the 40+ demographic. At the moment the younger audiences are gravitating to streaming services and the older audiences are sticking to traditional medias. In 5-10 years FOXTEL will be dead and there will indeed be a sports streaming service. I think it'll be more than $10 a month though. You get the exclusive rights to a number of sports and you'll be able to charge closer to $20 or $30 a month for the privilege. In a sports-mad country, the streaming service and/or services will make billions and billions of dollars and that will become normal.
  13. I reckon the thinking must be they're inexperienced players, Jeffy's been around a while and should know better. But I agree. How Kent has survived as long as he has, yet Jeffy plays two bad weeks and gets dropped. Kent's played 2.5 good matches this year. Pretty poor return, IMO. Well, clearly not. His lack of second efforts haven't gone unnoticed, but his team mates have picked up the slack a bit. I reckon he'll bag 5+ this week and then announce a 5 year extension next week. The game will be won in the midfield, not by Jeffy. The tip is more likely based on whether Viney plays.
  14. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how the banned Essendon players come back next year. Will they have lost touch? Will they run out of legs half way through the season? How will it impact on their entire season?
  15. I think if anything we'll only get more games as we rise on FTA. But I have FOXTEL and can't stand the commercial broadcasters, so less games on FTA suits me.
  16. Sorry, but who does Grimes come in for? He's not fast enough for the pressing half forward role and isn't a goal kicker. There isn't a spot for him.
  17. Good post. The inexperienced players aren't the problem at our club, it's the senior players. Naturally, much of our inconsistency will be down to the inexperience on our list, but also the up and down form of players with experience who should be doing a whole lot better.
  18. Hawthorn, the great family club. Yeah, right.
  19. Frawley leaving made our Petracca/Brayshaw decision a whole lot easier and allowed us to set up our midfield for the next decade. I'm sure we can find a role player that can develop within our system and game style.
  20. I actually think both would have stayed had we showed we wanted them. I'm glad we didn't want either, although Frawley would be handy now.
  21. You're just taking the [censored] on here these days aren't you?
  22. I don't mind Vanders, but he's vastly overrated on these boards. He's a big body whose game is based around physicality. I know he's still young in a games experience sense, but I'd never say he's classy or that he has a particularly strong footy IQ. I'd be replacing Vanders with Kennedy, who is more suited to our new game style than Vanders, who lacks pace and polish.
