  1. IMO they'll start well and then drop off around halfway through. Wouldn't be surprised if they beat us round 2 and imo it won't be the end of the world. They'll have a lot of top-up players who will be trying to prove themselves and they'll be up and about. They'll knock off a few mid-range teams in the first half, bookmark it. By round 10-11, though, we'll start seeing some beltings. They're probably still destined for the spoon. I predict 5 wins.
  2. It toe-tally sucks that he'll miss a good chunk of pre-season. I'll let myself out.
  3. BREAKING: Workplace union misdirects criticisms, disregards responsibility
  4. I've taught myself to go in to a season calmly. I'm not excited but I'm looking forward to it, if that makes sense. I've been let down way too much since 2010 and so it's easier to expect is to be mid-range then to set a higher bar for the club.
  5. Pretty sure this was also the case in the 90s, 00s and 2010s.
  6. I'm not [censored] about the injury. I'm [censored] about how he did it. In the US, most athletes aren't allowed to engage in physical activity outside of that approved by the team. When they do, they need a team approved trainer with them. Michael Jordan had the famous "For The Love Of The Game" clause in his contract (that's where the saying comes from) that permitted him to play basketball whenever he wanted under any circumstance. I find it strange that AFL clubs don't already have a "don't mess around and play backyard sport" as part of the contract. Simply telling a 20-year-old that's bouncing off the walls with energy not to play backyard sports over Christmas isn't enough. No doubt that if any club put this in the contract, the AFLPA would breathe fire down their necks.
  7. True, but why not just wait until the club says something? A broken food is pretty significant, sometimes worse than an ACL. A broken pinky toe is really nothing. I'm sure that if it were late in the season and we were in finals contention, he'd get a few jabs and would be playing. Roos looked mad.
  8. A little crack in his picky toe. Everyone needs to calm down. Not ideal, but gee, stop acting like it's major.
  9. Also remember that game well. I was only 10. My dad was sitting undercover with his mates, I went down to sit near the front, ground-level. I'd only be supporting the team for a few years. I'd seen too many horrid belting in such a short period of time. I was breaking down, so much so some random guy consoled me. I remember we kicked the first few goals and we were dominating for a good 5-10 minutes, but then they scored like 16 of the next 17 goals.
  10. Get this up in ya: http://youtu.be/kIDDKevpdZ4
  11. "We want you to feel bad, we want you to feel negative and then we want you to embrace that negativity."
  12. I don't want him at the club. He bashes women. He is a scumbag. NO!
  13. Yeah, that seems about right
  14. Not a fan of Col but he was at the club for 10 seasons and played 150 games. IMO that should be enough for life membership. He was a stalwart of the club and if people remember, he re-signed TWICE between 2008 and 2012, despite the club being in the pits. I don't think "not fulfilling potential" or "getting [censored] drunk every now and then" disqualifies you from being honoured for your loyalty. Some of you need to lighten the hell up.
  15. Gee, they couldn't take the photo again to at least have him in focus?
  16. I'm sure it happened during the Dunstall/Ablett/Lockett/Modra days.
  17. Facebook showed me a "memory" a few weeks back. I said something like, "Trengove, Scully, Sylvia, Mclean, Watts, Morton midfield = Melbourne flag in 2012". fmd.
  18. Okay my username and original display name is a bit embarrassing so I'm glad we're going with current display names lol.
  19. Cross-dominance is actually a pretty good trait to have. I write with my right, but everything else with my left. When I used to play football, even though my left-side was dominant, I was able to pick up kicking on my right really quickly because my brain could process an act with that side in the same way as the left side. It helped me get as far as the final 40 for the under-18s Knights squad but didn't get any further than that unfortunately. Every scouting report I got would mention "great with both feet" as the first positive. But don't ask me about the negatives...
  20. Will he be the terrifying new xenomorph in the new Alien movie? An alien-leech-human-Carlton staffer hybrid. Horrifying.
  21. I'd say 94. Even without Jako, Lyon and Ox were a more formidable forward duo in an era of dominant full forwards. Pike was very reliable. And Charles kicked a few bags of 5. 98 was good, but Ox was well below his best (at least the best of 94), Neitz was still finding consistency, and Farmer was too in-and-out. Ultimately, had we had both a fit Lyon and '94 Schwartz to go up against North in the 98 Prelim, it might have been a different outcome. Probably not, but maybe. Even with a fit Lyon, he was well past his prime by 98.
  22. If both teams get off to a flyer there will be 70,000 there. I'm not hiding from the fact it's a commercial bonanza for the club.
  23. This thread is bad and you should feel bad. Seriously, I just threw up in my mouth a bit.
