  1. Lol I thought he was referring to Daniel Wells. Don't ask me why. Friday.
  2. Ox and Jako brought it week in, week out, and adapted to their opponent to find ways to better them. Putting Wells and Sylvia alongside them is just silly. How many flags did Robert Harvey win?
  3. This is coming from Roos though who came in to a damanged club. Eventually the players and clubs need to be made aware of their mistakes and faults, not just cuddled and nurtured until we win a flag. I keep hearing about the "culture" Roos has established but maybe our inability to put sides away and our frequency in losing to teams we should beat is due to the playing group being complacent and not worrying too much about their faults and mistakes. I can understand why Jack Watts and co. would have needed to be nurtured with positive reinforcement back in late 2013 but we're 4 years on now. This BS has to end. You don't win flags by saying, "Oh look Wattsy, we won't focus on your negative, let's focus on the positives like your elite kick...." meanwhile forgetting about training standards and leadership. It seems like we're still in the era of the Brad Green numpty cuddle. If things aren't going well, seek out a compliment....or just bend over on game day and lose by 186 points! Seriously, we seem to be the only club that always has a divide between playing and coaching groups. And it always seems to happen. At some stage these blokes need to get over themselves and step into the real world. Watts included.
  4. This seems like as big a test of character for Watts as he's faced. The club has essentially said he can stay so long as he commits to what is expected of him and raises standards. Or he can leave. To me, leaving shapes as being almost vindication of Melbourne's concerns. And I think we'll be better off if he leaves. If he stays, he has 2 seasons to save his AFL career.
  5. Oliver or Hibberd. No one else even comes close imo.
  6. That kick out against Collingwood was just under 10s stuff. It slaughtered our momentum and seemed to kill off our chances. Had an okay season though. Still think his 2015 season was his best.
  7. It may be because Watts' comments came at a private function and not an official press conference, whereas Goodwin's comments were made while representing the club in an official capacity during an AFL branded show. Maybe.
  8. I actually think he's a smart player that can read the play well, but crumbles a bit under pressure and rushes his disposal. Maybe it's just me but there's something about him. Let's not forget that Jetta was similarly ineffective in his first few years. I think he's worth keeping around for a while longer. He's depth at best but imo he brings more than Kent.
  9. If we could trade pick 10 and somehow end up with, say, two picks in the 16-18 range, then fair deal. But if we throw in 10 and another first-round pick, it's major overs. If it's pick 10 then a pick in the early-mid 20s will get it done. And if Adelaide baulk at that, then we can point to Dangerfield, Eddie, and Scottie Thompson.
  10. One of my first games was against I think Footscray at the MCG in 1991. They were building the new stand. Jako and Jackson both went on a tear and it locked me as a delusional melbourne supporter.
  11. Further, dismisses words of the coaching team.
  12. Still, it's a fairly grounded and honest response. It's reasonable to assume Melbourne won't accept a second round pick just to get rid of him. If we're getting a good young player in return then it would happen.
  13. I'd rather Sydney's first pick, but if it's watts for a second round pick then Tippett could be handy filler.
  14. Don't worry guys we've got an elite kick in our team. 2018 Premiers!
  15. Hungry, pressure football. It is one thing to be skilled. You need to be HUNGRY for the win. 22 players all hungry. Watts stands out, not because he's an easy target, and not just because he's a key forward. Because efforts like his one against North are so damn obvious. It stands out. We can't just keep saying he's an easy target, because he's not. It's one thing to not be good but still have the effort like a Simon Godfrey, or a Tapscott, or a Kent. It's another to not have the obvious drive and hunger to compete. Today only further highlights how badly out of touch he is.
  16. If you watch today's game and think we should keep Watts, you're out of your damn mind. A downhill skier, "cherry on top". Elite skills are negotiable. They can be taught. He lacks the ability to apply non-negotiables. TRADE.
  17. It won't make a difference. He's ten years into his career now. Are you watching the game today? PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE. I can't fathom how anyone could be in the Watts camp. His elite kick is worthless. On Grand Final he will be absolutely owned by someone who wants it more. We need to stop with this crap of keep fan favourites who have "elite skills". You can't have elite skills if you don't chase and tackle. They're non-negotiables in this game. Ffs!
  18. PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE. Forget about the free kicks. Our game against the Bulldogs should set the standard. Manic pressure.
  19. I'm surprised people continue to underrate them. They win out of defense, and their midfield pressure is elite. That's where you win flags. And to think people are crying about Watts being traded ffs. ACCOUNTABILITY
  20. Richmond will win this. They are just superb defensively. Adelaide is as well but I think Richmond's is that little bit better atm.
  21. Yep. Has a Nick Davis quality about him. Even when he's not doing much, you just like having him around. He bobbed up at random moments and his goals always either stemmed the opposition's momentum, got us going, helped seal a win, or a combination of the three. He's a natural and a keeper.
  22. Round 23 and vs North both had me genuinely questioning my support and commitment to the club. I'd never been more angry and disillusioned.
  23. So as I said, improvement alone is no longer a gauge for us. We're beyond that. It was improvement when we were looking at a 2 win, 4 win, 8 win side. I improved in my job this past quarter but I still missed key KPIs. My team leader was not happy. It was a failure. Improvement isn't enough if I'm not reaching the goals set out as a reflection of my skill set. If you think Melbourne was genuinely not ready or good enough to play finals, then sure, it was an improvement and success. But I can't see how you can apply that logic when we lose to North Melbourne with finals on the line. Or Freo at the MCG. Or Hawthorn coming off a belting. We were good enough to play finals but didn't. Therefore it was a failure.
