  1. Lol so another sponsor that is "moving on" from pro sports after sponsoring Melbourne. That's three in a row now since Hancook. We're like George Costanza, turning straight women gay.
  2. Has anyone considered that maybe Melbourne is opting for another sponsor? Higher viewersip members and attendance. More sponsor money.
  3. Been thinking about this for a while. It is a stupid little thing that puts the club at risk. Having people jump onto a padded back is something you'd see at under 10s training. I don't know why they do it. The sprint is kinda fun. But most of that stuff is pretty [censored]. Imo they should have goal kicking tournaments.
  4. Why wouldn't he? I know he has to agree with it, but Watts ain't no Dangerfield or Buddy. His weight in this instance is limited exclusively to that very clause: he has to agree with it, and it would be a professional courtesy to agree to it considering the 10 years we've put into him. Players rarely say no to say trades. The ramifications are huge, and why would you want to stay at a team that is packaging you? Even Trengove agreed to go to Richmond. IMO we're likely going to have to part ways with Watts or Salem to get Lever. And I doubt either of them is going to hold off the negotiations just because they don't want to go to Carlton. Watts might have the right to say no, but at the same time, he doesn't.
  5. We'll need to trade to secure a second pick. Adelaide want two first-round picks, which is fairly reasonable because they have good luck at the draft like the Eagles. If it goes in that direction, we'll trade one of Watts or Salem for a pick in the 12-15 range, and then package pick 10, new pick, and maybe a player of the Kent variety for Lever and their first round pick. This could all also be part of the Gibbs trade, which might see: Adelaide: Gain - Gibbs, Pick 10 Lose - Lever (to Melbourne), Pick 17 (Carlton) Melbourne: Gain - Lever, Adelaide player filler (who is a reasonable option in this scenario?) Lose - Pick 10 (Adelaide), Watts/Salem (Carlton) Carlton Gain - Watts/Salem, Pick 17 Lose - Gibbs End of the day we're either trading for another first-round pick, or we're giving up players in the Watts/Salem area. Such a trade would probably include packaged players as fillers for Melbourne seeing as both Carlton and Adelaide have high second round picks that probably won't satisfy us. IMO this direction seems most likely. Not sure Carlton would go for this, although Salem would be another fine piece to add to what is already a good backline, and they're crying out for some forward line coherence but Watts is more of a "cherry on top" and not someone you draft to improve your forward wares.
  6. He was joking
  7. He reminds me of Andrew Obst.....
  8. Jayden Hunt is Obst 2.0 Anyone know what Obst is doing now?
  9. Every god damn year we're in the same position. Entering his prime and is being dropped. Will likely get one more year. But 2018 will be his last if he has a similar year. He needs a Stevie J circa 2007 year in 2018.
  10. As much as I love this story, there's little chance of me supporting a Swans flag. I'd rather Richmond win. I am sick of Sydney and Geelong.
  11. Roos tried to trade Trengove. Would have been a steal. We didn't get much out of him after that attempt. Thanking him for his service but ultimately he should have been moved on long ago.
  12. Why? He's a contested marker. Opponents try to avoid going one on one because 99/100 he smokes them. I'd rather him keep at it.
  13. Agreed. The more I think of the injuries this year and *who* we missed, the more I think we had a pretty solid season considering. Doesn't excuse the last game, though
  14. In our case though it's an important statistic because we barely scored more than our opponents collectively for the entire season. If we're not scoring much but defending well then it doesn't matter. Should we have scored more or defended better against Brisbane? Either of the two leads to more percentage gain. For GC it doesn't make a difference but for a team on the verge of a finals appearance and one that missed out on percentage, it's an important statistic. Either we're not attacking well enough, or we're defending poorly.
  15. Nah. WC was always going to beat Adelaide regardless of whether we won or lost in round 23. So either we finished 7th and played Sydney or we missed out.
  16. I hate West Coast but gee you gotta admire that football club. And Port. Lol. You scrubs.
  17. Let's not forget how utterly awful Richmond was last year. 8 wins. 75%. Many a belting. 12 months later they're on the verge of a GF appearance and should be second favourite behind Adelaide. There will really is no excuses for this team next year. The "We're learning" and "it's a journey" excuses are done.
  18. Standard Saturday night for me even during the off season...
  19. *slap* Please don't compare Jurrah to Jako. Jurrah was fantastic. Jako was god like who regardless of the club he was at, would have had a short career.
  20. They're not really wrong. As fate has it the whole scenario landed us Hogan in the end but Damian Barrett has proven right in that Tyson and Salem for Kelly didn't (or hasn't yet) worked out well. Sure, Salem and Tyson filled needs we desperately had to fill at the time, but I'd trade both in a heartbeat if it landed us Kelly. That Richmond game is part and parcel of the horrors that were the 2011-2014 years.
  21. Backed them to play in the GF tbh. They'll win tonight.
  22. Aaaaaaand now I'm depressed.
  23. He'd have played ten years regardless but the coverage around that tackle in Australia is what got me into NFL. It's a terrible sport but I do love it.
  24. He played arguably his best football of his career when he was in and out of the ruck, though. That's a position that demands accountability whereas a forward can go missing easily and the many variables - such as delivery - thrown up as an excuse. Imo playing him simply as a forward allows him to get too comfortable. He needs to be thrown out of his comfort zone every now and then, for his own sake to build confidence, but also for the team's sake because he can be a liability when his defender gets the better of him. Imo leaving him forward exclusively is a mistake we've made time and time again with this bloke. He's somewhat of a downhill skier and needs to be actively pushed into positions of accountability.
