Yes we did, and yes we could. In 2004 yes we had a great record at the MCG, but in 2005 and 2006 we dropped many games there. As a finals team you'd expect we would have won more at the MCG than lost but we were hardly a sure thing for those 2 years.

This has been an issue for the past 2-3 years. Unless we grow up as a team and consistently win the games we should, we'll never be more than a run-with as we were during the Daniher years. Opposition fans didn't respect us from 2004-2006 because we were pushovers and often lost to the likes of Carlton and dropped games against interstate clubs at the MCG when they couldn't otherwise win there. We'd go on losing streaks and eventually find a way to play finals. A bit like North of the past couple of years before 2017, although the irony is they always beat us, a team they should have and did always beat comfortably. I don't trust this team yet.

I went a few years ago. We got there an hour before the game started and had to stand behind the goals facing the sun. It was 34 degrees and just packed to the brim. Getting in was a nightmare. Left at quarter time and went shopping at Chadstone. Never again.

I missed the Essendon win in 2012. I promised myself never to miss a Melbourne game again so long as I had the time to attend. I went to every game in Melbourne from 2012 until 2013. Now THAT'S crazy. I remember going to a 4pm game on a Sunday vs Adelaide at the MCG. Freezing cold. We lost by 10 goals and I stayed until the final siren. There was maybe 5000 people left in the stadium at the end of the game. 2000 Adelaide supporter.

Our intensity around the contest dropped off significantly once he left the squad last year. Not saying he's the difference but he brings it and can be our Didak equivalent. Maybe not an outstanding player but if he finds form he can be a game breaker. imo he's going to surprise a lot here this year just as Nibbler did last year.

It might, MIGHT have to do with the fact that no scoring is just boring to watch and is bad for the brand of football itself. "Low" scoring in the AFL is considered 15 goals between two teams. When both can barely make it to 5, there's an issue.

I mentioned on her before last season that it will be terrible to watch because the talent pool is too thin and there are too many teams. Of course I was hounded for being a negative nancy. When it was just Melbourne v Bulldogs, the matches were exciting and intense. All of the best players across 2 teams. They added the Lions. It started to thin out. Now they've gone hardcore and added a bunch of teams filled with women who are unfit and have never competed at a professional level, competing a pro competition. Melbourne and the Bulldogs, who invested in this more than anyone, lose out because now their past players are "Marquee players" signed by other teams. It should have stayed as an annual exhibition match to build the culture and following. Establish the culture, build the foundations, and work from there. Where the league is now team wise probably should have taken 10 years. Way too hard, too fast. Terrible oversight by the league. It's ruined.

Do you mean to say it "looks great" or it's a "great look"? It might look great from an aesthetic point of view but from a branding and reputation standpoint it's a terrible look. You may dismiss the importance and need for sponsors, that's fine, but to say other people don't notice it is understating the significance. Sponsorship is a reflection of: 1. Amplification - How many people does the MFC reach? 2. Engagement - Of those people that support the MFC, how engaged with the club are they? 3. Purchase intent - How likely is someone that watches the MFC to purchase a membership, merchandise, or any a brand/product related to the club? 4. Reputation - How does the neutral fam and general public view the club and its brand? All four of those are either low on the scale or non existent. It is a terrible, terrible look. It literally means that no company ON THE PLANET is interested in committing to the club on the club's terms. Once again we have to compromise and go hand in hat to get someone to pump money into the club. This is what happens when you are [censored] for ten years and can't even lay a tackle in the first 10 minutes of the most important game of the past decade.

Has been a great servant but in the coming years as Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and co improve he'll eventually be pushed out. We'll come to see just how bad we were that he won 3 B&Fs. Love the bloke tho. Hopefully he gets a Shane Crawford-esque sendoff.
