  1. It was the second efforts especially Scully in the last quarter, the running on, the gang tackles thats what did it for me today
  2. I presume there will be another letter....................
  3. A comment was made on the radio this afternoon that Garry is by coaching the U16 which were coached by Buckley last year, still is undecided and is keeping his options open.
  4. If that is the case will we see Cam Bruce at Casey. I don't think so. What must it look like to the younger players when an older player is stuffing up but is treated differently?
  5. I had to laugh today when the Ox on SEN commenting when Newton was kicking for gaol said that there wasnt much wrong with Newton apart from dragging his kick to the right and oh also his work ethic..... please
  6. I'm not comfortable with Bennell out. Surely his leg speed is better than Cheney
  7. I sat very near to Rivers today and he was walking very freely so what are the chances of him coming back next week Frawley for Rivers - dont know what the match ups are like though.
  8. Does anyone know what happen to Spencer pregame. Injured??
  9. 1. Pettard 2. Jamar 3. Grimes 4. Davey 5. Green 6. McKenzie
  10. And what does it matter if mistakes were made today. They were made making the play with very few examples of using handball to get out of trouble. Scullys errors were made by youthful endeavour - ENDEAVOUR - something that we didnt see last week. A Collingwood "friend" said that he thought it was amazing that all the Melbourne supporters seemed so happy and the Collingwood supporters looked liked they lost the game. Didn't everyone here say that we would be happy if we saw a team play with passion this week. Well that's what we got and heaps of it. Lay of Baily too all you Bailey bashers.
  11. Why on earth would Chris Connolly go - he is the football manager. There is not a person who does more at the Club than he does. And for fear of being shot down here, I have been reading some of the absolute rubbish threads here about the players responsibilities and accountability and I think some of you should look at the photo of the team coming off the ground after the match. There was one player with his head held high and that was Jamar who incidentally won the ruck on statistics. The others all looked how we supporters felt. They new it was crap and they do not need us to rant and rave and send in messages to the Club to bellyache. If you heard Jack Grimes being interviewed after the game you would know that they knew it all wasn't good enough. Expect "improvement" this Saturday but keep it in perspective. We have a team of average "seniors" and a lot of classy young boys who are playing out of their developmental depth at the moment. We are playing a team who just may win the big one - heaven help us all!!
  12. On SEN on the way home OX said he felt that Miller should return down back where he played he said his best games. I think he said that Warnock should go to forward line. The other noticeable thing today was Hawthorns ability to shepherd a Melbourne player off playing the ball. We looked insipid in the strength department and why didnt anyone go to Strauss/Grimes aid when he was put down behind play. The comment was also made that Bailey was recontracted because obviously the Club knows what it is trying to achieve in the development of the younger players and that during the period of development it was better to have stability. Today showed that we just have to accept that we are still early into that development stage and we all should concentrate on what the likes of Scully, Grimes, Trengove, Pettard. Strauss etc achieve each week. A comment on one of the stations also worringly stated that the club were disappointed in the way Watts had not developed as quickly as they had expected. On the plus side we have Garland and Blease to watch later on. Of course hopefully Col will be back next week. I just hope that next week is not like today because it would be doubly worse to have sit with all those bogans laughing at us. It was bad enough Hawthorn supporters but at least they are civilised if not smug.
  13. Everybody should re-read that article. Expectations began to get over the top preseason. We are what we are at the moment. But we all know what is coming.
  14. MFC doesn't have 3 game memberships!!!!! Hopefully we can exploit Darwin like the Hawks have done with Tasmania.
  15. I sat behind the goals at the Gabba last year and the work that Miller did behind play when the ball came down to Jurrah was outstanding. Put aside his kicking for goal, he has a football brain and whilst we have so many inexperienced players it is imperative that someone like Miller is in the forward line doing all those unrewarded and unnoticed things that are essential to the team as a whole.
  16. Catch the Cranbourne train and there is a bus service to the ground. There are details of the bus service somewhere else on this thread.
  17. I too am in absolute awe of the man. My story happened late 2008 when standing with a friend at a MFC function DB was walking past and stopped for a "chat" and told us amongst other things a few home truths about Chris Johnson. What was obvious to us was that he is an up front and an absolute no BS type of person. If that is the impression that he gave us just in the ten - ffiteen minutes that he took out of his precious time then I think the Club has a winner. Whether he has the football smarts to go with his down to earth and honest personality only time will tell. What is so important is that Cameron Schwab and Chris Connolly and the Board believe that he is the man to lead our impressive group of young footballers into the future. Now is the crucial time to mould that group. That says it all to me.
  18. Unfortunately nobody else thinks so going by the latest betting out for the wooden spoon. Hopefully we will have the last laugh on all of those disbelievers!!
  19. Just renewed the rest of the family and the dog and cat and was told that memberships should be started to be posted out in about a weeks time. Can't wait to drive around with my 2010 membership to show the world (of Melbourne).
  20. Does anyone have anything to report from last night's function?
  21. Has anyone wondered why Richmond has shown no interest in Mitch Thorpe despite Hardwick's obvious intimate knowledge of Thorpe. Is there something they know that we don't!
