Prodigal supporters - come back now
Longsufferingnomore replied to jabberwocky's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've booked my trip away mid Sept thinking next year I would be watching the finals - I'll be spitting chips if................ -
I just saw Cam Schwab's twitter and the film of Norm Smith talking about his sacking. He said I'm Melbourne, Melbourne through and through when asked if he would go to Richmond to coach. If you havent seen it, have a look. Sad part of our history.

Changes for Next week
Longsufferingnomore replied to Lil_red_fire_engine's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let him have another week. Playing for VFL is entirely different pressure wise than playing AFL. He needs to get that week behind him and having played in that game will do a lot for his confidence. He is a player that needs that little bit of extra time given that his background is not football but basketball and he is still getting used to all the nuances that AFL has in comparison to VFL. He's certainly regained his confidence at Casey having played at least three decent games but what he needs in the seniors to be able to believe that he is making a contribution. I thought he did on Saturday because he provides so many more options for DB with him in the team. -
Kelly O'Donnel I think this morning said that he would play this weekend that after a horrendous injury last year was right to play a couple of weeks ago and then was "ill". Did anyone else hear O'Donnell this morning because I thought he said that Tapscott was six weeks away. I think I am wrong given the operation but can anyone help here.

Listening to Kelly O'Donnell this morning on SEN his comments with regard to Jack was that a KPP takes longer than a midfield to reach the moment when he plays senior football. He also said that many people have forgotten that last year Watts was a partime player sho was concentrating on school an not on football. Also the couple of injuries he has had has set him back and that he will continue to play at Casey but will play with the seniors sometime this year. O'Donnell said that Jack was good mates with Natanui and has spoken with him. He said that he played a very good game two weeks ago but last Sunday did not play as well and he thought that was due to the zoning game that Collingwood played. He went through all his attributes but said that he was a dream to coach, was level headed, positive and despite being desperate to play senior footy was also patient. From that I am very happy for Jack to stay with the Scorpions and get good game time and also allow his body to develop to play FF or CHF

Kelly O'Donnell said today on SEN that Wona will be back at Casey in two weeks.
-
Martin will play next week.
-
I've gone all goosey reading that.

Scully needs a week off and not to run with scorpions. He was really dragging his legs late in 4th quarter and could not run. Better to manage these young boys well and not burn them out. Melbourne manages the young guys really well. Martin will be back next week after another good performance this Sunday.

I am a MCC member and dont need to have everyone signed up prior to round 1 but our memberships including cat and dog are all paid up as soon as they are available. Obviously our memberships are a donation but the sooner the club gets the money the better. I have one more member to sign up as well.
-
Hopefully now that Jimmy is on the mend from his recent operation, the club will go ahead with the ring around of each of the 7000 unsigned "members" and get them back on board.
-
Main thing is to make sure that your membership allows you entrance into the ground so ring the club and explain your predicament to them. They may have some suggestions.

Mouse, google YMCA here in Melbourne. I know it sounds a bit naff but would be right for the budget. Leave more to celebrate our win! When you ring the club find out if they are going to have a function after the game even if it is an away game. Have a great time whilst you are here.

We need a key position forward. ASAP
Longsufferingnomore replied to wolfy's topic in Melbourne Demons
What were Melbourne players supposed to do - watch the opposition move down to their forward line but hope that by some miracle a melbourne defender would get it out of the backline to where unmanned Melbourne forwards were waiting. Get a grip -
Trengove - Dees first rising star nominee?
Longsufferingnomore replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was it Trengove who got poked in the eye last week. At half time he came up the race clutching a towel to his right eye. May have played with limited vision in the right eye. -
How can inaccurate handballs be blamed on the coach?
-
To my mind Newton is still the weak link but unfortunately we need a tall to help out Jamar who was absolutely "rooted" in the last quarter. He could barely pick his feet up.
-
It would only work once and the opposition would click.

Just received a reply from the Club and everything is on hold because of Jimmy's health. If there is ever a time its now to "say a little prayer".

Dean Bailey on Footy Classified
Longsufferingnomore replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are in good hands. Bailey spoke well actually answering each question which is a breath of fresh air. I liked the way that he answered Garry without putting Garry down but forcefully stating why he should have been given an extension. -
Hawthorn's mongrel tactics were discussed this morning by KB on SEN with Patrick Smith. PS wanted to discuss Guerra's tackle but KB seemed not to but they did confirm that Alistair Clarkson likes his team to play this way. They also mentioned Mitchell's tackle and that Brown should focus more on the ball than the man. I think (cant confirm) they both referred to Hawthorn as the "thug" (or something similar)team of the competition. Nice

Are the ABC telecasting VFL games again this year? Does anyone know?
