  1. I think that we are maligning Robbo a little here. His games against West Coast and Port were excellent in his second efforts and tackles which until then were non-existent. I think having Liam down there with him has eased the workload. SOme of the commentators believe that he should stay for another year so that there is a senior player down in the forward line when the likes of Watt etc come to play next year. I don't know where he will fit but with a full pre-season under his belt it may be worth him staying on. I would however hate for him to have a shocker and go out of the game with us remembering him for all that he didn't do than for all the excitement that he has given us in the past.
  2. Does anyone think it is strange to the point of being obvious but last week Kerr was out with "soreness" then this week they are claiming a stomach ailment and when asked when he could be recalled whoever it was being interviewed stumbled over the fact that it was unknown. What a joke. I liked Grant Thomas comment tonight that Fremantle are perfectly capable of losing with Pavlich in the side.....
  3. We'll be there. I think I'll be bringing the tissues........
  4. After listening to G.Lyon tonight I am even more convinced that we cannot win another game. He said how many supporters remember the feeling of winning the game over losing the No1 draft pick for the year. Even CH and GT believe that Melbourne should not win another game. Only Caro thought that they should try and win all of their next games for their supporters. She said that the word was that West Coast were thinking of putting DKerr and Cox out for the rest of the season. I understand those here who believe that we don't need PP to rise to the top but as GT said Scully is a ready made footballer and definitely the best in the country. GT when asked how they would do it he said that it was the preparation, training, game strategy and player management. I get the feeling that this has been going on for a long time well before Carltank last year. Caro said that Mick Malthouse had a nerve to say that teams should be able to rise to the top without PP and that they had got (I cant remember who she said) by getting early draft picks. I am very very nervous. I am hoping that seeing Jimmy going into the Club today he was going in to tell DB enough is enough.
  5. Mousey this attachment is a little worrisome. Tell us more!!!!!
  6. Did anyone hear Aaoron and Liams interview on 3AW after the game when Aaron said that all the aboriginal boys had nicknames for each other with Wona being something turtle and I can't remember what he said Liam was. Can someone remind me Liam was so quietly spoken that it was difficult to hear what he said and obviously Aaron was bought in to support Liam. I wasn't impressed by Rex Hunt as he almost talked down in some respects to Liam but it was all taken in good humour. Aaron was very impressive and said that there were many more indigenous players that would make it down here. Since it was Aaron that alerted Barry Prendergast to Liam Jurrah maybe he could become our unofficial recruiter in NT.
  7. Aren't we all getting a bit beyond ourselves. There are still 7 rounds to go of those only two are possibilities - Richmond and Fremantle. North played well today and Richmond are playing better so the game which will be the most important to lose is Fremantle at the MCG. I still believe it will come down to percentage and we will see some of the players out with "soreness" etc. I hated sitting there today hoping that we would lose by a point but for long term gain short term pain.
  8. Whispher can you wear a red rose in the lapel or something so we know who you are. Don't know what reception I would get going around asking all and sundry if they were the famous WJ
  9. Tell us how the function went. A lot of us who live in the city on this forum I am sure would be interested in attending functions of yours when we play practice games at Casey next year.
  10. I saw it (reported yesterday 12.33pm)and I don't think he looked sheepish at all. In fact he was smiling when he said it. Will Mr. D call him in to explain? I don't think so. They will ignore the statement and just like last year when they wouldn't look into the Carlton fiasco - all too hard and it would expose other elements that they choose not to know about.
  11. Did anyone hear Terry Wallace on Sunday after he was asked if he coached to lose the last game last year, he said, that he did nothing. When asked to elaborate he said he did just that he did nothing and just let the boys follow their instincts and they lost. The team didnt tank but the Club did. Good option for Bailey. Personally I don't mind if they lose every game from now on but lose them with honour - honourable losses played with passion. We may lose the battle but we will win the WAR - Drafts 1 and 2.
  12. Did you see him at quarter time yelling at the players to get in and when they were there (midfielders etc) his eyes were bulging pratically with the force of what he was saying to them. Good God isnt this what we want from our team leaders every week. After one of the goals, I can't remember which one, he ran up to the player (obviously smaller than him) and grabbed and shook him up and down - funny as but great to see. I wish Cam was a bit more like this - where it on his sleeve more.
  13. One of the things Jimmy mentioned at his press conference was that Don would be standing in as President but that he had also asked the whole board to take on more whilst he was away. So the Roosts comment about Don not being able to work full time at MFC is not valid. Don is more than capable of doing both jobs and the Stranga's sniping comment about the silver spooner board I suggest you have a look at the board and where and how they have come from to be part of the Board. These negative comments do no good. For goodness sake Don has been in the job for two days. Of course no one could fill Jimmy's shoes but we are not asking them to. All we want is the board to continue what Jimmy has started. He has put into place our future plan which is the basis from which we will grow. Jimmy's example, I think will only generate more support from those sitting on the membership periphery. Just think next year when he has won the battle and is back at the helm he will rejoin a Club that has continued on growing its support base and gained the respect of the rest of the AFL. Don't [censored] and brood Stranga and Roost because these comments you will obviously repeat outside this forum and it is at this time that we need to show a united front to the rest of the AFL world. There will be those who will be happy to see the Club revert back to how it use to be. Lets not give them that pleasure.
  14. Agree totally. Don is not only a passionate Melbourne supporter but he also has the financial smarts and contacts. Do not underestimate what Don has done behind the scenes but also what he is capable of doing being our stand-in President until the end of the year. He will continue the momentum. We are in good hands. Notwithstanding he does however need the continued support of all the Board members to pitch in and do that extra that will be required.
  15. I liked what Cameron S said that Jimmy has the most magnificent ability when talking to someone to "listen beyond the words". What a gift.
  16. Win on Sat but no more definitely no more. Look at who WC left out for soreness - scoff scoff. Who do they think they are kidding so if they plan to win another game this year well I'll go he. Win for Jimmy and his recovery but then its team management time thereafter.
  17. I heard Dr. Bruckner say that he may not know what kind of cancer he has until he has more tests. Until then they wont know what type of treatment he should receive. It probably goes without saying but I also believe now that we should all get behind Don McLardy, support him and the rest of the Board so that when Jimmy does come back he will come back to a Club that will be even stronger and more committed to the future than when he stepped down.
  18. I think what Bailey was referring to was when Bennell had taken on two Brisbane players on their forward wing and was able to get the ball and them over the boundary. Not one Melbourne player came up to support him or after congratulate him. They younger boys need to know that what they are doing is being appreciated and backed up by the other players not just older players. The inability or unwillingness to block or shepherd and the inability or unwillingness to run on after disposing to make the second and third efforts are glareing problems that Bailey has to fix. That the young players may have bought this to a head is good and shows good leadership amongst the younger boys. The other good thing is that it hasn't come out in the press and they have been able to keep it in-house (apart from us and demonology). Look what happened at Richmond. We cant implode.
  19. Don McLardy would be an excellent Pres. He was the man behind the Debt Demolition and what a great job he did with that. I would be happy with him or Leoncelli as interim's but they are just not our Jimma.
  20. That was great doggo. Can we keep this in the files for future reference.
  21. Has anyone read the reports on Demonology about a team meeting early in the week where apparently some of the younger team members brought up a few issues with the team leaders. Does anyone have any information on this. I suppose this is insignificant given what is happening with Jim at the moment.
  22. If Jimmy is having an operation later this week it would seem that whatever is wrong must only been recently discovered otherwise he would have stood down before this. I am hoping that his standing down is only an interim measure and that we can all look forward to his return in the near future. Good luck and God bless.
