  1. But you're happy to pay 700k for him to play in the reserves? the new Sheriff in town laid out the ground rules and CO said 'I'm off' Says it all for me. He has let us down repeatedly in the past 2 years. What's changed that is going to make hime play better?
  2. Howes has played 28 games He's a good size, has taken a while to get up to pace of seniors but he has a chance to cement a spot. I watch other clubs and see how some players transform themselves over a summer. Maybe they get specialised training maybe they decide to give it a real crack but they come back like they mean it. I hope Howes does that. Has some tools and now has the pace of the game. Go well young man.
  3. This is a thread about a new recruit Tom Matthews I am happy with this guy. Leadership, hardness, skills, speed and goal kicking. Was nominated as the best 'trainer' in their pre-season. A little bit of Jamie Elliot about him from his highlights - one can dream. Let's hope it can translate to senior level. I wish him all the best.
  4. Imagine if a male supporter did that at an AFLW training session....creepy
  5. It's the opposite of easy. But perhaps your being your usual jaunty self :)
  6. We have a business where the revenue/spending is very heavily impacted by onfield performance, player contracts and sponsorship. Even merchandise and club events get heavily impacted by team performance. Its not as easy as you seem to think it is.
  7. Dont know for sure but if we have the cap room it makes sense we do it. And yes we should get the higher relief. There are lots of ways to move a LT contract around and this makes total sense
  8. I don't want to pot the guy as I have only seen his 3 mins of highlights but they dont appear to be as high as some of the other draftees. Will be watching his developement keenly
  9. Watched his highlights....hmmm he's tall-ish...
  10. Jeff whites recent video explains it very nicely King has all the IP needed to implement a better structured forward half game. And 2 of the biggest butchers in the middle have left the building
  11. It seems his thinking is back in the 70s. " kick it to snake!"
  12. Ease up its only been a pipedream since 1965....
  13. @Cranky Franky will be distressed that JT is "hyperventilating" about a bloke who has yet to play a game.....
  14. Ess got spooked last year with Kako
  15. This data is a bit out of date (I think c2021) but the AFL was: Harry Sharp 5:28 Jay Rantall 5:50 Finn McGinness 5:51 Fraser Rosman (!) 5:52 Dylan Stephens 6:01 This may even be the Draft Combine best but the interesting thing is that none of these has set the AFL word on fire
  16. No but in fairness the takeaway for me was the focus on Geelong and what hopefully King will bring to us
  17. Watch Mihocek's goals from 2025. 85% of them are from a hit up kick. Under melbourne's structure he would have kicked 10 goals.. White is spot on. Our fwds have no idea where to run. COuple that with a midfield that couldn't hit the side of a barn we were always going to struggle. Excited for what Steven King will bring to the table in terms of our structures
  18. That is seriously impressive!
  19. What does a great or innovative Board look like to you?
  20. He's fit, has good evasive skills, tackles well and his disposal is generally very good. From what I have seen he hasn't delivered at senior level and has looked a bit fumbly but the pressure of not making mistakes when you re a fringe player is massive. Would like to see him get a half decent chance He's basically like Bowey but not as good overhead.
  21. Gee the photo of Heath standing next to Culley shows how big Heath is. Huuuge. And he likes a contest apparently. Good stuff, nice pics
  22. We're at the stage where everybody is starting at square 1. No preconceived biases. Train well show the coaches what you've got and if its any good you play. Goodwin had his favourites and his selection policy was a shambles so it will be interesting to see how King plays it out. I'll take him at his word and say that everyone has an even chance. Those that want to grasp the nettle now is your time. What we do know with new coaches is that at end of year 1 there is usually a decent clear out so the message to our players is simple. If you don't want to be gone at the end of the year show something solid.
