PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Membrey always kills us.......oh wait.

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Plus they would have to go to a score review any time there was a contentious OOB

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Typical AFL. They bring in a rule that ruckmen have to start 1m or so apart and they enforce it for about 5 weeks then its forgotten. Probably 20 or so rules like that

He's only played 4 games. People's expectations are out of whack

I counted at least 4 goals as a direct result of AJs work including the hand off to Sharp. BTW Sharp was the super sub of the week and perfrmed well when he came on....

Callum Mills
Kozzie got two for his legitimate bump on Baiey Smith, who continued to play the game.

Short Boundary Throw Ins
Is there any other game in the word where an official or umpire requires a significant skill like in AFL? It's ridiculous when you think about it. And when they have to run 8-12 kms a game.....

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
tilthorp and Hogan are pretty rare players is what I'm saying. They are hard to find. We don't have one of those and have to rely on players who can bring the ball to ground if they don't mark it

I have been a strong Fritch critic - and he deserved it IMO - but he is getting better. But WTF has happened to his set shot kicking? His left foot has a massive left to right swing - he used to kick his leg much straighter. What does Choco actually do for hte club if he's not fixing this stuff. Same for petracca and Gawn. Its U12 stuff at the moment

You're kidding yourself if you think contested marks is a benchmark. Very few fwds take more than 1 or 2 a game for a shot on goal. Its great when it happens but its not that often

Yes very happy. It was our most comprehensive 4 qtr performance for some time. And particularly given the pressure of the Swans in the first half. People saying Swans were putrid but in that first half they were pouring on the pressure. Our structures behind the ball were generally outstanding. There is also a genuine understanding between our players now about where to run, spread, corral etc. Our fwd half tackles were impressive (20 tackles i50) which allowed Pickett to run riot. I also watched Spargo closey and his work off the ball is very good. Measuring his performance on goals alone is shallow analysis Our running between the arcs is at a very high level now with Lindsay, Langdon, Langford etc doing a great job. We are buildoing nicely and if we can beat St Kilda it sets us up for a great Kings Birthday clash.

Similar to your thoughts I thought Rivers played a really good game mostly on heeney despite Heeny getting 3 goals. he is really becoming one of our most important players but doesn't always impact the stat sheet

Max was 9 months old the last time a ruckman won the brownlow To be fair though he could win it as a midfielder....

Shame he dropped the chest mark 25m out but I think you are being harsh. He crashes packs like TMac used to do back in 2019/20. Its really important for our small fwds and there are no stats for it. He gives max a decent chop out as well. Having said that I wouldn't mind seeing what Campbell has got..

Jeff White - Analysis
not very generous. I'd say in large part to our pressure. Thats the whole point of the zones we set up- removing the easy short kicks and putting the kicker and receiver under pressure. You could see from the first half where we didnt get that balance right and Brisbane waltzed the ball throug the middle It's fine lines and looks terrible when it doesn't go right...

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
Swans lose Frances (Concussion), McInerny and Amarty (both suspension) but regain Mills and likely McLean (back from concussion) Their goalkickers this year are: Hayward 14 Amartey, McLean, Warner 11 Heeney 10 Campbell 8 Hanily, Warner 7 Blakey 5 Sheldrick 4 Thats quite a few goals from mids - often the case at the SCG - but no real monster forward. That says to me one of TMac or May gets rested. And maybe Chin to take Warner and Viney to Heeney Sydney will run with Jordon on Petracca

They might rest May. No natural opponent for him

Time to go Goody?
Let me know when you find a coach like that. Just sayin....

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Was at that game. Notably Grundy in his first outing for Sydney pantsed Gawn. His tactic of running straight at the body at the centre bounce was something Max was unprepared for. Pretty sure you'll see a different Gawn this weekend. We also lost Bowser to the shoulder injury and the ball was like a cake of soap, We dropped everything. A terrible night. Despite that we were only 2pts down at 3/4 time and were overun. Suspect the boys have a lot more belief this time around.

Any word on Lindsay?

Maybe, Bowey missed 8 weeks with a shoulder but could still run I guess. Hard to know exactly what Windsor could or could not do training wise. It doesn't seem from my limited perspective that he has lost any pace or evasiveness more the skill that is possibly more under pressure playing in the backline. And where every mistake is amplified. 2 weeks running we have been screwed

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
To me he tries to hang back and launch at the ball but is prone to being blocked or bumped. Many times he tries to outbody backmen but with little success. Rarely do you see him run straight at the ball carrier OR do 2 or 3 dummy leads doubling back to wrong foot defenders. A lack of a credentialled forwards coach screams at me.
