  1. Recruiting players, recruiting coaches, recruiting board members Then developing players. All a shambles. No leaders since Neitz and Junior. Our 200+ games players are non-existent because of our Gutnick related lost draft picks in 99-00. Imagine how much more crap we would cop if we still had Scully?? Amazing how we stuffed up that pick as well - what a Dud. We are rooned.
  2. It has made me think more about the role of Craig, What actually has he done??? He has escaped all criticism, He has coached a finals team and is very experienced. He is very active around training and yet he also seems incapable of changing the train crash that is Melbourne. Remember, Viney, Rawlings, Connolly have all coached at senior level as well. They can't all be shocking coaches. There is something very very wrong.
  3. He has a point though. 2 Its chicken and egg. He ain't telling to play like that but they are and he wears the heat.
  4. A samurai sword would have been a better instrument.....
  5. You sound surprised? We have been doing it for a year and a half six years now. Neeld is a dead man walking.
  6. This isn't simply a team that is not playing well. We have zero intensity, structure, game plan, commitment or idea what we should be doing. 28 tackles to 3/4 time against GC shows that the players do not want it, are not playing for the coach club or supporters. If the players are trying to kill the club they have almost done it. Our lazy warm ups, pre season, first quarters are symptomatic of a deep malaise at the club. It appears the players could not give a flying about the fundamentals of the game. Either they realise the club is teetering and this is what they are trying to do or they are stupid dumb footballers with a stupid dumb coaching panel. Frankly I think they are clueless. Why they aren't playing man on man football is beyond me. If they haven't lost 75% of the supporter base by now it can't be too far away.
  7. Not true. Loinchop asked has mate Craig Kelly whether Lyon was available and he said no. I don't call that chasing.
  8. Are you trying to justify this crap?? Geelong had 10 players with less than 50 games and beat Essendon. There are none so blind as those who will not see. We are f*****d
  9. Steve Johnson at 49. More like 9.
  10. Corrected. cheers
  11. Looking since 2006 we have started the season appallingly almost every year. Every year we seem to have no momentum at all from the pre-season with lack lustre performances that carry over to the year. Its rare for our full team to play together before the opening game. When are we going to change things around so that we train over the summer like we want to play rather than the bulltish 'training loads' and slow build ups that they make each player endure. How about getting a footy early and playing games the way we would like to play - against each other or whatever. I am so sick of the way this club struts out all the positive rhetoric over summer and then lets us down at the start of every year. Its killing our supporters and our corporate revenue. Our kids have given up as have many adult supporters. Why can't we take a different approach?? 2007 Lost first 9 games. Finished with 5 wins 2008 Lost first 6 games. Won 3 games for the season 2009 Lost first 3 games, won 1 game then lost the next 9 games 2010 Lost the first 2 games and won 8.5 for the year 2011 Drew 1st game, won another 8 games for year. Infamous 186 game 2012 lost first 9 games. Won 4 for the year 2013 Win 1 game out of the first 6. We can't seem to get one aspect of our game under control. Defending a kick in for example. If we at least worked that out we have something to build around. But no every year we stink at it. Same is our own kick ins. Real basic stuff that kills us week in week out.
  12. Essendon did not volunteer their information initially to the AFL. They were informed by the AFL that their name was knee deep in the ASADA and Govt report and that they had better come clean otherwise the AFL would have no choice but to castrate them. They then held a press conference to 'fess up'. They are a protected species and the AFL has tried to shield them from day 1. Luckily it is largely out of their hands. I hope they cop a lot of grief from ASADA and WADA.
  13. Sorry I disagree. I think it is a bulltish argument. Excuses to cover off poor performance. I don't expect young sides to win flags but I do expect them to run and run and run. and tackle. And to be able to see where the ball is coming down the field and run to an open space to receive it. Our intensity, commitment is appalling. The speed with which we move the ball is terrible - that's not experience its just dumb football. Other teams do it with young sides. We don't. The games excuse is a crutch for pathetic efforts. Bailey used it for 3 years and it creates a pizz poor culture of allowing players to put in less than is required.
  14. My thoughts in a lot less words: Until we can find players who can: - hit targets - run and spread - tackle effectively - pick up their man when we don't have the ball then we will remain useless and unwatchable
  15. Oh yeah and Geish and the Ump should be sacked
  16. Wow. What a farce. Remember what they did to Brad Miller. He was actually quite a good enforcer before the tribunal officiated him out of the game. They would scream blue murder at the pies if it happened to them. I hope like hell Tappy doesnt change his style one bit.
  17. Someone who bleeds red and blue does not pot the coach in public like that. Most unhelpful.
  18. Yep we are doing great. Our I50s are the lowest in the comp. Even lower than GWS. Our avg losing margin is nearly twice GWS. Keep Dreaming. And don't bother regurgitating your stuff from your self-proclaimed "post of the century". I think you'll find I argued with you vociferously that we needed to demand better accountability form our players and you were firmly in the camp of giving them game time and things will be sweet. How did that work out for you?
  19. Stop it Stuie ( or Mrs Watts) Everyone but you can see it.
  20. Take out JBrown and the total games changes significantly. Brown did nothing yesterday so its reasonable to view it that way. I agree. We are trotting out excuses and the players justify it to themselves. DEMAND BETTER PERFORMANCES!!!!! It sounds like Bailey crap -"oh wait til they get 50 games into them and then we'll be competitive." How did that work out for us?? Hmmm?? Defeatist bulltish.
  21. It is crap actually. You made a point and it was plain wrong,
  22. I swa numerous times when Brissy had the ball that we had two or three players on their own jogging through the middle. There were clear Lions players free but no one bothered picking them up. Its obviously not the same as being at the game but t is blindingly clear on TV that we do not work hard enough when we don't have the ball. Lazy, dumb, lazy and dumber
  23. The rule says that the ball must cross the line completely. AN umpire standing behind the line can see perfectly whether or not it has crossed the line. A goal umpire in the field of play is ridiculous. The number of times they get hit by a ball or player shows it is a problem. It worked for 140 yrs until some genius changed it.
  24. Do you really think it is instructive to look at theLions record in a premiership year to determine our performance yesterday? FMD
  25. People around here are delusional. It doesn't get any worse than we are playing.
