  1. The AFL is reducing the impact of the TV rights holders by recruiting their own production team. They have around 215 of them. They will package the content and sell it off to the highest bidders that will overlay their commentary. If you want Friday night games or finals or blockbusters you will pay handsomely all the while buying the raw footage from the AFL. The you and I will be paying say $10 a week to have the content streamed to the digital device of your choice: smart TV, tablet, laptop etc. They will reap over $3bn from this is my estimate over 5 yrs. Up from the 2011 $1.3bn and the 2006 $760m. If you want to know the detail of how it will work just watch Major League baseball. they control every aspect of their sport. Just sayin.....
  2. Can someone please tell me why that weed Hayden Ballantyne was not suspended for the blatant and deliberate trip that cost the Dogs an almost certain goal?? It wasn't even a 50m penalty. This was supposed to be an automatic report?? it wasn't even looked at by the MRP!!!!! As if we didn't know the MRP was completely trucked. This confirms it yet again.
  3. If you have a spare $1.4bn you might be able to change it.... Public opinion and sentiment ain't gonna cut it....
  4. I think Dean Bailey could coach but was instructed to play a certain way (!). In essence had one hand tied behind his back. I think Neeld couldn't coach. But Roos is a master coach. And it shows in every facet of how we play, how he conducts himself, how the players respond etc etc.
  5. We have been complaining about getting 4:40pm sunday twilight games and the media are like " oh its Melbourne what do you expect". Has been going on for years. Bet you won't hear a song and dance about he number today though...
  6. ...without ever having seen Tyson play!
  7. Was supposed to be after the bye. And here we are....
  8. That's what I see as well. ordinary player in a good side. Every team has ordinary players. You can't have 22 champs.
  9. Just like we did with Neeld when Ess were 9 and 1 and we beat them from memory..... Just sayin......
  10. There is no doubt in my mind that press conference was called for political purposes. Eddie Obeid was in the witness box at ICAC. Labor were taking a drubbing in the press. Jason Clare was the new Attorney General and they were looking for anything to distract them from the Eddie Obeid ICAC mess. The ACC later admitted they had no evidence of any illegal activity. There was scuttlebutt only. So why did they call the grandstanding presser with the heads of all major footy codes??? Why are the Bombers so peezed off that they were 'coerced' into self reporting? Why haven't they taken their medicine and moved on. There is plenty that has still not come out and it s being hidden behind the 'we can't comment because of ongoing investigations' crap. oh, and Gillard was two weeks away from calling an election. It was a farce.
  11. I have had a bit to do with the Carlton F club from a business point of view and the word on Swann isnt good. We dont want him near the MFC.
  12. You can choose whatever mode you want....
  13. Quality individual Super competetive Good athlete Good football brain Does an amazing amount off the ball - has led the club for 1%ers I believe We all hope that his past two years are an aberration caused by his foot injury. Would love to see what he could really do with full fitness.
  14. I know someone who has had this. They are fully recovered but took around 3 years. Its a shocking illness.
  15. We've got Sheedy to thank. I have always thought he did it to F*** us over after we didn't appoint him coach. He has hated us ever since. Pretty happy we got away with that one.
  16. you're kidding if you think that's all we need.
  17. rd 17 2013 TIO we lost 56-84 rd 17 2011 TIO we won 113-92 rd 9 2010 TIO we drew 110 ea Our record against port in the NT isn't too bad. Looking fwd to it.
  18. One change. Out picket fence.
  19. GWS had a deliberate recruitment strategy of harnessing the best youngtalent. They stocked up on draft picks and shocked most (incl the AFL) when they didn't recruit decent senior players to give themselves a chance of playing competitive footy sooner rather than later. They spent their money on Folau (wasted), Scully (wasted), Ward (good get) and Davis (not bad get). No star or AFL leader among them. They know that their young guns will come out of contract and be targeted. Like Tyson they are prepared to change their talent around in order to get the right mix. When they lose talent they expect to get decent players in return. They are playing a long game and are quite deliberately following a strategy. Exhibit A their trading for the first 3 draft picks last year. This is quite different to the 'traditional' route that GC have taken and which is now bearing fruit. The AFL were apparently livid at the early GWS drafting and now GWS are going to be bumping around the bottom for some time AND take a lot of life support to stay liquid. Getting crowd support is going to be nearly impossible with performances like the ones they have shown this year (bar the Swans win - how the hell did that happen??). Its no surprise GWS are terrible ATM. They will be that way for a long time and the AFL must by very worried about their ablity to field a competetive team, draw crowds and gain a viewing audience. This is a terrible moneypit but with 60% of advertising revenue coming from NSW and SE Qld this is driving their decision making. They can't pull out now.....
  20. err, operating profit doesn't mean you aren't a not-profit business...
  21. Hartlett looks pretty certain to go. That is a big out for them... We are a chance and have always played well against them in the NT from memory...
  22. They sure as hell didn't pay him $6m to average 8 kicks a game either tee hee..
  23. Looking for Port to be in 'crisis' after they get beaten by the Dees. Same happened at Adelaide, Carlton, Richmond.. I'm loving it....
  24. It is Shane Crawford..... He's nearly 12,,,,
