Why does the AFL use an SC (Barrister) and the player uses Iain Findlay who is not an SC????
-
Melb are arguing it was the actions of Georgiou that caused Lynch's injury. This is interesting because if you go back to the sling tackle of Trengove then Georgiou has failed in his duty of care when tackling a player and the player was injured. This is the problem with the slippery slope of this tribunal system. Its so stuffed and throws up unintended consequences.

He didn't bump he braced himself for impact.
-
Its kinda been forgotten that Viney was bracing for impact from TWO players or about 185kgs travelling at speed. This says two things: 1. WTF was he supposed to do but brace 2. He is one tough mudder.......
-
Which is why its a crap award. Only 2 players in the history of the award have won it being nominated after rd 8 I think. Cousins and N Reiwoldt. It USED to be for a player that will BECOME a gun. Now its a B&F for young players who play lots of games. It BS as far as I am concerned. JKH can be very good for us. Don't care if he doesn't get nominated.

That's not right, you are confusing that with players that jump into a bump. Jack didn't do that. Maybe one foot was off the ground but he was running at full pace to the ball. To me he turned his body, braced himself and 'crouched' down so as not to jump up.

I am still smiling over Dawes tackle. What a beast....

This smacks of the 'get games into the kids' mantra that Bailey espoused. iTS ABOUT EFFORT!!!! And some of Watts' efforts have been below under 15 grade. We get he's not a crash, bash player. He doesn't have to be. He has exquisite skills. Everyone agrees. It's about his effort. But you have a brain. Compare his efforts on the weekend with lame efforts the week before. Its not hard. Watch the tape. If you believe that he put the same effort in then I'll be a monkey's uncle.

OK Sue. For you, next time, I will recite the magna carter

You didn't like my explanation?

Great summary. I would add that there is a difference between bumping abnd bracing for impact.Viney clearly braced rather than choosing to bump. But its the MFC - well oil beef hooked.

There is a real problem when the ball is genuinely knocked free in a tackle. Too often the player drops the ball and it should be incorrect disposal but the ump calls it a genuine attempt to get rid of the ball - play on. Because the umps stand 30m away from the action in defined spots, they can't see most of whats happening when there is a scrum. The genuine attempt has become ridiculous. Players pig rooting on the ground is unedifying. The inconsistency of prior opp is galling. In the back is being ignored when a player is on the ground.
-
Whilst its a problem in all games, its exacerbated in our games because we get the worst umpires (I include Ray C in that!) The good umps get the big crowd TV gigs... It won't change till we get away from the bottom of the ladder

The ump will blow time on. And btw its only a 5 second rule if you drop your toast......

Like Col Sylvia's broken jaw in the pre season comp a few years back??

My point is that the Adelaide player didn't bump or brace himself which you would reasonably expect him to in the circumstances. What was Viney supposed to do with two players bearing down on him? Stop? Run away? As it was he 'braced himself' which I would argue is different to the 'if you choose to bump' rule. If he gets pinged it will be because the Crow player didn't brace and I think it would be wrong..

Roos' trust in the playing group and vice versa

As was Watters for the Saints.... -
In case you missed it the initial comments were about ppl who who blindly what quote another poster has said and turn it in to gospel truth. It may be true but quote from your own personal experience "I heard him say this at the 3/4 time huddle" not 'Welsh hates Roos' crap game plan and has form bagging the MFC' type of quotes because one poster says it. Pretty soon 3 or 4 posters repeat that and guess what? You have now done a similar thing "I've heard him say the same sort of thing to a player the other year as well, bagging the Melbourne coaches gameplan, almost word for word to what you quoted. that time was against the current coach in Neeld. has form." When you attempt to assassinate someone's character best if you quote verbatim what you heard not repeat half truths, generalisations and now - you have added 'form'. 'Heard a similar thing against Neeld, therefore what one poster says about Welsh on Roos must be true.' And this was when 'a few years ago' - oh he has been doing it for a long time against multiple MFC coaches. How about you give it a rest. FMD.

Just watched the replay. Really happy with: Bail's first quarter Jetta's game Howe's form across half back picking up Jamars mark JHK's footy smarts Cross's desperation in the last quarter Vince's game How well we did with NJones being held quiet Pederson putting his body on the line Roos' coaching - Adelaide have been a scoring machine and finally, Dawes. What a competitor he is. Just makes the rest of our guys walk taller. Its a real shame Hogan is not out there with him - and Clark for that matter. Hogan will learn a lot from playing next to someone like Dawes. Forgot Grimes. Great game. Kept putting his body on the line by backing back into the hole. Very brave. Brilliant, possibly game saving spoil in the last quarter.
-
Right you have taken one comment from a poster a month ago and formed your judgement. Its now gospel apparently. FMD no wonder the internet is shocking for rumours and innuendo. Why don't you form your own opinion from your own experience before pot shotting a guy like that. Pathetic.

The ultimate indignation for Sheedy who thought he was shafting us. Did us the greatest favour ever!!!

What's the difference between bumping and bracing for contact? And 2 players going for ball, one braces the other doesnt. How is that the fault of the first player?

By the geniuses on Land? Oh we'll that settles it.
